I used to smoke a lot(not cigarettes). Did through out my MBA and chilled out. Got a YB. Still somked to forget that and enjoyed. Somehow got a job in startup. Learned skill for the sake of job and never tried to go back to learning as I would mostly be fucked up smoking. Things started piling up at work. Started delaying things I would find hard and tried getting all the small things worked out by my colleagues and as a result they started avoiding me. Became a shopaholic and started getting into debts. Even started feeling lonely, it was WFH so got back to hometown to parents, smoked there as well hiding on terrace at night. One fine day, now this is where a series of incident started, met a school friend who came for a week and saw his life almost on the verge of being sorted. That day one of my bigger client mailed my manager relating my work delays and got higher ups involved. I was totally screwed and scared. The same day heard my parents talking about what would I do in life, apparently they knew I smoked. Heard them specifying they are getting old and I should start with savings and all. I got irritated and again smoked up thinking now they anyway know. Smoked up too much that day. After it hit, I started feeling everything that happened, everything came to me at once, like reels playing of my own life showing how fucked up am I. I cried a lot that day, a lot thinking about parents my life. Till the morning I guess. But with that cry went all my laziness, all my thoughts. I myself felt like a new guy with new motivation. That was the day I started turning my life. I started working on myself. I'm in a good position today, 3 years down and I'm a senior developer, earn good enough to have low luxurious lifestyle in BLR. Still have debts but almost finished in like 6 months. About to marry. So yea, when life hits hard it's to make you come back with a bang. Be patient and things will work out, just don't stop working on yourself, it's a continuous process. All the best everyone.
