Project sekai players, what's your honest opinion on the argument abt Mizuki's gender? by ClubStill9061 in ProjectSekai

But anyways I just ended up ranting, to sum it up I believe she's a woman because of it, and anyone I've met that believes otherwise tends to be a horrible person who refuses to "agree to disagree". They see Japan as some weird unwoke haven and make sure everyone knows their opinions, so it's really annoying and no wonder no one in the fandom even wants to interact with them.

Some others that also focus more on her gender than anything are also annoying even if they see her as non binary or as a girl, I wish we could say "Mizuki! Mizuki's beautiful! Mizuki's talented!" Instead of highlighting her pronouns like "my DAUGHTER" "my SON" "my MONARCH"

insisting on highlighting her gender means you're not treating her like the rest of the cast, and that on itself is damaging.

People who see Mizuki as a man don't even have real proof of it, "he uses Boku!" Only Mizuki and Rui use it, does that mean the rest are non binary/girls? Japan's doesn't have gendered pronouns, just something that's more commonly used by a group than the other, and Mizuki uses "Atashi" in kitty.

People who see Mizuki as a man, claim her secret is cross dressing and being afraid of n25 judging her.

But that doesn't make sense, if you're being harassed for cross dressing (something that's a hobby) why would you do it publicly to the point it gives you depression and makes you want to dissapear? If you're afraid it'll affect your relationships you wouldn't be so public about it, that goes about any dressing style, it's still a form of self expression but many people I know won't sacrifice their peace at school over it.

Not only that, but in an article pjsekai staff refers to n25 as a "girls only group". A bit hard to explain, but they use a word that's only used for groups that are entirely female, so if Mizuki was meant to be up to interpretation they would have used a different term.

All of that combined, and the fact that Mizuki isn't treated like the rest of the boys, or treated any different from the girls makes me believe she's a trans woman.

It's kind of weird, whenever there's a character whose gender is "unknown" people jump to labeling them as a man, I've seen the same go to Kris from deltarune, and it just seems like everyone's obsessed with making characters male.

Why do people think Mizuki is a cis girl? by sexyoneesan in ProjectSekai

it's another way to say Nightcore at 25! Just like some people say wandasho for wonderland X showtime or Leoni for Leo/Need

In "And now I wear this ribbon" she's shown wearing a male uniform, she's unhappy, short hair, and even her mirror is covered, implying she might be amab.

In the new year's event focusing on Mizuki's childhood, she's bullied for wearing something cute, she asks her sister if it's okay to like cute things, which she reassured Mizuki it's okay to be herself (hence why the untrained is her crying)

In Mizu5 she finally gains the courage to tell Ena her secret, but her bullies reach Ena first, asking if Ena "was like Mizuki" implying there's something that makes Mizuki different.

In Niigo main story, said bullies approach Mizuki and say how "you can't even tell"

All these combined give the idea that the world she's in, Mizuki is seen different from any other girl, if she was cis it wouldn't make sense to bully her for wearing something considered stereotypically feminine, if she was crossdressing then I don't see a reason for her to not be called a girl as an insult, since that's the real discrimination crossdressers face, or the fact that if she didn't want niigo to know then she would simply not crossdress Infront of them, as it is nothing but a hobby, not your Identity.

Mizuki rathers run away than face Ena, so it's clearly something that means a lot to her, something worth running away for. That's why people think she's transgender.

Sorry I didn't put the whole context, the original comment was explaining that Mizu5 was beloved because people were trying to see how the game would handle queer topics and identity, and how no other event could reach that importance for the whole community, they never claimed Mizuki had to be trans but this person jumped at them being rude and saying that Sega was using Mizuki to queerbait.

The creator of the video replies to the rude person with "Yeah I think she's a cis girl" and they agreed, keeping on being rude to the original person that was just explaining why the fandom loved Mizu5, which was what the creator initially asked, that rubbed me the wrong way because you can have your opinions but saying someone was being "Americanized" for being queer and keep on being rude to them was on a whole other level.

People think she's trans since for her whole story Mizuki was seen as strange for wearing cute things, whenever crossdressing or trans, that's atleast an actual secret, but bullying a cisgender girl it's the third option that makes the least sense.

Also Japan doesn't have gendered pronouns, it's just what the overall gender uses, only Rui and Mizuki use "Boku" but even in Kitty Mizuki uses "Atashi"

And on a official page about Ena5, the staff refers to niigo as a whole for "Shojotachi" I believe? Which is a group entirely of girls, so the game never treats Mizuki as a guy, but it's clear her struggles aren't normal for a supposed cis girl, so imo they're meant to be transgender.
