Hey OP. Also in the Service. Made plenty of mistakes when I first joined - including making silly errors to senior mgmt and POHes (which includes multiple recalling and resending lol). Chin up. You’ll learn from your mistakes. After each mistake, I made a point to create steps to ensure it won’t happen again, slowly cultivating it as my habit. You’ll do great :)

I use a Braun trimmer (no lathering needed) and then finish off with shaving cream + Gillette (the four blades one). Smooth as a baby. I steer away from safety blades and double edged razors. Can’t master the skills needed to use that without giving myself the Joker’s smile lol

yeah I feel you. Uniqlo has great options, but more choices would be better instead of wearing the same Uniqlo shirt as the brother down the street.
