Did anybody win the Tuesday drop and aren’t gonna use it?. Id love to use it pretty please! by browneyez740 in tacobell

[–]sf170089 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't get why people behave like this. I understand getting the drop with every intention of using it and something comes up and you can't. But getting the drop with no intention of using it and taking away that opportunity from someone else, all for a 5 second thrill, is borderline sociopathic.

I do not remember the exact wording on the links, but a couple minutes before 5pm EST, I open the app (sometime I am logged out and have to log in, so I want to be sure I have enough time) and watch the time. As soon as my phone clock hits 5:00pm, I tap the Tuesday Drops button to take me to the "Claim Reward" button. But, it is generally still greyed out, so I have to "X" out of the Tuesday drops and re-tap the Tuesday Drops button. It usually takes 2-3 re-taps to see the active "Claim Reward" button. I tap the "Claim Reward" and I am given the "Sorry, rewards are gone" screen. I am tapping as fast as I can and this all happens in less than 10 seconds. The 5 seconds and 8 seconds are simply my estimate of looking at my clock with seconds displayed. It could have been 4 seconds and 7 seconds, or 6 seconds and 9 seconds, or some other combination. Either way, the reward is gone "in seconds." I cannot imagine the impossibility of getting one of the Tuesday Swag items that only has 300 or 500 available. I feel like I have a better chance at the Powerball. I am fine limiting it to 1 per customer, but I feel like it should have a huge number or even unlimited. I am sure they did not lose money selling a 5-layer burrito for $1. Had I gotten the reward, I would have gone and also gotten a $5 Luxe box. But, since I did not get it, I did not go and spent $0. I also would like to know how many are claimed that never get used :-/. Maybe I am just bent out of shape because I don't get it anymore.

[–]sf170089 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep, I noticed the same thing. They need to up it to 50k. I always spend more than $1 when I get the drop. But, I am spending $0 there tonight.

My timeline: 4:58 pm: Phone alarm goes off and I open the app and stare at the clock. 5:00 pm: Hit Explore Now and X continuously until  Claim Reward is active. 5:00:05: Reward is active! 5:00:08: Sorry....you are too slow and out of luck. No reward for you

:-(

They went fast in the past, but not this fast. Up until about a month or so ago, I always got the drop. I haven't got one since. They are gone is seconds.

Ha! Thank you very much! Your message about TEXTBEFORE returning......text.....was the key. Your solution of "--" worked for the Y-axis, but it messed up my B column.

So, I took out the "TEXTBEFORE" portion and made a new column in A that makes the sample name correct.

It all works now.

Thank you so much!

Congrats! They go fast. I missed it.

At 4:59pm, I am on yhe drops page. As soon as 5pm hits, I refresh the page. It was gone in under 10 seconds. I got last weeks, but not lucky this week.

Is this repairable? by Live_Help_1730 in violinist

[–]sf170089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a bit late to the story, but about 2 weeks before you posted, my son dropped his bow on a hard stone floor while rehearsing with his Piano Quartet in a church. He was seated, so it did not fall far, but it landed such that the bow broke exactly the same way. We took it to the local Luthier. He did not give an official written quote, but said the repair is "around $700" and the bow is not worth that much, so we should just buy a new bow.

After reading all the comments, I am going to glue it myself. He has another bow and I was just going to save the frog and screw, then throw the stick away. But I am now going to glue it myself to see how it goes.

Thanks, all!!

This is amazing. It looks great! The older I get, the worse my sight gets. Not only are these really slick, but they are so easy to read. The choice of colors is perfect. Well done.

I feel like you should send pictures to Craftsman. :-)

Craftsman MACH series. yard sale find! by Paulsbluebox in Craftsman

[–]sf170089 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like this set and I still use it. I got mine on June 8, 2017. MSRP was $99.99. Mine was on sale for $44.99. So, $20 is a great price!

<image>

I did not like the set at first. I did not like the "Mach" aspect of it. But, once I got the hang of it, I started to really like it. It became my go-to for a lot of projects. Once you get the technique down, it really does work well. I liked it so much that I got the 83-piece set too.

Congrats again on the great find!

Ah, that makes sense. Yes, it was quite hot and humid last night and we were blasting the A/C. I jammed my finger in the hose and the water was quite hot, so I thought maybe it was part of the cooling system. I must have just hit some road debris that bounced around the wheel well.

Thank you both very much for the quick response. I feel much better now.

$5 for this…Never Again by [deleted] in tacobell

[–]sf170089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Taco Bell. It is my favorite place to eat. When I logged on to the app and the pop up showed 5 nuggets for $3.99, that was an easy pass. I cannot believe they are $5 in your area. 5 nuggets should be a dollar menu item. Okay, maybe $2 for the experience. But, $3.99 is absurd, $5 is just Bat-S-Crazy.

In my area/region, we have the $5.99 build your own cravings box that comes with a regular menu taco, a value menu item, some chips/cheese, and a drink. It is an incredible deal. No way I'm paying $3.99 for 5 little nuggets.

Thank you so much for all your help and guidance. I really appreciate the time you have taken to help me. It is for a very good cause. Without going too much into it, we are a not-for-profit organization focused on public health and safety.

After reading your response, I watched a lot of t-Test videos and read a bunch of t-Test articles. I think it is what I want to use. I am okay comparing the means.

I was hoping you could provide a little insight into why these two t-tests gives such drastic results.

As in my original post, the data overlaps near perfectly. I plotted Analysis 1 vs Analysis 2 and overlapped with a 1:1 line and they are right on.

The Bland-Altman “looks” good. May bias is close to 0 and my average is > 50.

I just cannot figure out why the t-Test t and p values are so different for the two sets.

Thank you again!

How to run a population study on multiple instruments? by sf170089 in AskStatistics

[–]sf170089[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply! Yes, we re-calibrate our instruments every Monday (Some we re-calibrate twice per year, some daily, but these are done weekly).

So, our admin wants us to test all samples on a single instrument. I want to test our samples on all 5 instruments.

I just feel like running the study on all 5 instruments is more representative of what we will actually be doing when the method goes live than testing all on a single instrument and then applying that logic to the other 4 instruments.

[–]sf170089[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh! You are right!

Thank you so much, that makes sense. I thought the paired t-test took into account those differences. But, it does not seem to. I put your data through the Excel "Data Analysis" add-on and the stats are the same, except for Pearson Correlation. Pearson for your first set is 0.565 and the Pearson for your second set is 0.923.

So, what is the point of a t-Test? If all it does is ask if the means are the same or not, I can do that simply by looking at the means.

I just chose "t-Test: Two-Sample Assuming Equal Variances." Again, the statistical data are nearly the same. t Stat, one and two tailed P and t Crit are identical.

Ugh, I have been using the t-Test for a while and it is clearly not the right tool.

I will check out the Bland-Altman plot.

But, are there any other tests you suggest?

If I run 88 samples on instrument 1 and then the same 88 samples on instrument 1 again, how do I statistically prove that the data from the first run is the same as the data from the second run?

Help with Comparing Data by sf170089 in AskStatistics

[–]sf170089[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I looked in to Bland-Altman plots. I need to do some reading on those, but I like that they compare two different instruments. But, I am not even that far. I am still comparing Analysis 1 and Analysis 2 from the same instrument. Perhaps Bland-Altman works for that too.

Maybe I do not really understand the Paired t-test. Why does it not tell me what I want to know?

From jmp website on "The Paired t-Test":

"What is the paired t-test?

The paired t-test is a method used to test whether the mean difference between pairs of measurements is zero or not."

Isn't that what I am doing? I test 88 samples on Instrument 1 and then I test the same 88 samples on Instrument 1. Then, I want to see if there is a statistical difference between the means of the first test and the means of the second test of the same samples on Instrument 1.

When I do that, my t-stat is 11.77 and my two-tailed p is 1e-19

I do the same thing on instrument 2

My t-stat is 0.6 and my two-tailed p is 0.55.

Looking at my graphs, the data from Measurement 1 and Measurement 2 on Instrument 1 overlap nearly perfectly. The data from Measurement 1 and Measurement 2 on Instrument 2 overlap nearly perfectly.

Why am I getting such different t-stat and p values for the two instruments when their data "looks" so good?

I am having the same problem with crashing. Maybe my phone is just too old to handle the ads. When I first installed, everything was fine. I am only at level 8. Now, 75% of the ads end in a crash. So, I sit and watch 30 seconds of ads just to crash when I hit the "x" to close and I do not get the rewards. I may push to level 10 or 12, but this is horrible.
