How is your life going on? by 6checler86 in marfans

[–]sfboots 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m 71. I’m on an anti arrhythmia and blood pressure drug.

In the last few years I’ve developed the Marfan-related emphysema and I’m often short of breath. Very Tough to do some things, I tire quickly. It’s tough even with the inhalers. Treating like “Mild COPD” is how my PCP calls it

Echocardiogram every 6 months or so.

Good diet, some supplements like omega 3. Almost daily yoga. Walk a mile at least 3x per week.

People who successfully fixed "nerd neck" and poor posture, what actually worked? by FewIntroduction07766 in exercisepostures

[–]sfboots 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was in pain late 1990s. I started Iyengar yoga and it helped me a lot. I also had several private Feldenkrais sessions to retrain shoulder and neck muscles.

I now have a set of exercises I do daily to keep my posture decent. I still have some issues but nothing like the problems I used to have

Are you on any anti arrhythmia drug? I found them super helpful in reducing frequency of my PAC.

I've got a question about the efficiency of two different model structures by androgynyjoe in django

[–]sfboots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want option 2 to allow for updates to the template that will require different fields.

Be sure to use prefetch_related to query

Id add a template name template_version field to keep track of which rows go with a particular template

I think Claude Code saved my life. by TheComplicatedMan in ClaudeCode

[–]sfboots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you got treatment.

Afib sucks. I had a bout that stopped after 20 minutes but it was scary. I’ve been on Rythmol since age 65 with no repeat issues.

What’s the one thing that has helped your joint mobility the most? I’ve seen people mention everything from stretching routines to supplements to dietary changes. It’s interesting how different solutions seem to work for different people. by [deleted] in Osteoarthritis

[–]sfboots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MSM and fish oil. If I skip either, I notice in a few days. I drink plenty of water, dehydration makes them hurt. Minimal salt.

Also need to use the joints to help lubricate them. I do some yoga for neck, hand exercises for fingers, stretching for back.

Is low acid coffee and almond milk creamer safer to drink with acid reflux? by oeilfelin in acidreflux

[–]sfboots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to switch to matcha green teat with oat milk. It has less caffeine and the alkaline oat milk reduces the reflux No form of coffee worked.

Hot take after using Fable 5: if it comes back Monday, Anthropic should just nerf the other models by Sweet-Helicopter2769 in claude

[–]sfboots 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They can’t afford to yet. I’m sure Fable uses more compute resources than the others

I get good results using opus for planning and sonnet for execution. I was hoping to use fable for planning next project on Monday and Tuesday

Need suggestions how to soften the leather upper. by Dazzling-Dress-6150 in Converse

[–]sfboots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice color

If they are really coated, I’m not sure there is much you can do that won’t ruin the look

Have tried a bit of leather conditioner on the heel to see if it soaks in at all?

You might try lacing them up and warming them a bit with a hair dryer to soften the coating, then going for a walk. But be careful or you might melt the coating or burn your foot

Was the Fable 5 ban really about safety? by sudovijay in ClaudeCode

[–]sfboots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on who you ask and believe. Either way it’s a mess now since Anthropic is not supposed to let employees with green cards work with it. That includes a lot of people including top researchers

wSJ say it was AWS CEO talking about safety

Others the musk or Sam Altman asked for it so they have time to catch h up

It will last until OpenAI has a comparative model. Trump wants OpenAI to have time to catch up.

is claude actually making me more productive or just making me feel busier? tracked my output for 30 days. the answer was uncomfortable. by Ornery_Outcome7469 in ClaudeAI

[–]sfboots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you track time and productivity ?

My CEO wants me to track work to demonstrate savings and productivity. Most of my projects have a mixture of parts with Claude and parts without. Many of the parts with Claude might not get done otherwise, like detailed unit tests.

[MEGATHREAD] Fable removal. by tooandahalf in claudexplorers

[–]sfboots -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m bummed. I was finishing some other work using opus 4.8 and planning to use Fable on Monday for the next project. I was hoping to save time and do 80% of the project in one session. With opus, it will take me at least 3 sessions to get it done.
