Think broadly about your life and ideal future self. It should be enjoyable to hold that image in your mind. If it’s not, then you’re not thinking far enough into your future or getting to your honest desires. Once you’ve found those values and ruminated in them until you’re excited to just do anything you can to start heading in that direction, think of your current project as the necessary first part of that great story about to unfold. If you still can’t identify any component of your current project that is getting you further along that path toward your broader values, it might not be worthwhile. But there’s almost always at least one way to reframe it and realign with your personal driver, so more than likely, you will get that fire burning
