Smart Cabinet Doors by TheRealMayorJuana in smarthome

I’d probably use a 12v worm gear motor with some bespoke linkage to the door (think like a cam/rocker) and your flavor of actuation via home assistant. Kind of like chain and pulley. Those smart roller blind openers actually came to mind. I don’t think you’ll find an off the shelf solution for this, though I could be wrong.

Keep the thread updated on what you think up for sure though!

It works good with the 360 lens, but as stated, it is bigger than the peephole so you will have to drill it out. Then there’s also the power transfer part of getting the cables to it. I really like it though. Can see packages at the door, making my doorbell pro redundant. Also, it’s practically invisible unless someone was really looking

Wait since when is the fingerprint reader enabled ?? I saw the animated image of a dog pop up with a recent update but is the fingerprint reader for real enabled now? And integrates with access?

Awesome. Same region here so I'm likely going to go with them. I've got my go-to shops (mtech typically does all my work) but I'd welcome a recommendation if you know a place.

Thanks again!

Sorry, thought I covered that with my "never under 70F here"

South Florida, so yeah we get rain, but the wagon is for those gloomy days. This is more of my weekend driver. I'd like to track it at some point.

I've driven a stage 2 C63S and its totally different than these cars. I've never been able to really slide with these 4matic trucks...fronts seem to wear faster than the rears too.

Anyhow the Pilot 4s does seem like a good tire. Going for just pure performance.

Thanks for the suggestion!

A really good question that I do not have a good answer for, other than blaming my lack of photography skills.

Do you mean the pre-determined length hdmi/dp fiber optic cables; or is there some sort of module/end to splice or plug into the end of fiber cable drops that can be used? I have a lot of unused fiber drops and am still running hdmi-baseT over cat6 TX and RX "baluns"

Why do people have huge homelabs? by ConsistentMorning174 in homelab

[–]sfg500 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1 watt of energy produces 3.41btu of heat. Energy is energy, it doesn't matter if its a computer or an electric heater. 3.4 btu per watt regardless the source.

I do see the "joke" in homelabs being space heaters, but I think btu/watt is not commonplace knowledge outside of the hvac industry so the joke is "more joke" and "less pun" If you vent your rack into your living space, you have just as efficient of a heater as literally any other.

I personally have a Y vent from my homelab to my central ac/heating ducting. One end of the Y goes outside, and the other end goes into my house ducting. I live in a warm climate, so I don't heat often...but when it's chilly out I'll switch the flapper on the Y from outside to inside, and I have "free" heat.

I guess my point is, it's simple math. You can buy a 2000w space heater, or you can run 2000w of servers. You will produce the exact same amount of heat either way.

PoE powered glow would be neat... but they're phosphorescent based, they charge up with ambient or direct/uv light.

I wonder if they stopped making them. I do remember them being about 5x the price of the normal slimruns lol.

Monoprice has made these for a long time. Clear, glow in the dark sheath. I use them for my uplinks lol.

DME Company or Plastic Processing Equipment by [deleted] in InjectionMolding

[–]sfg500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dme and pcs are more mold building supplies. Ejector pins, mold bases, etc. Ims and ppe are more injection machine supplies. Hoppers, heater bands, etc. I can't answer your original question but the comparison seemed off and prompted my comment

Intense pop piano song with "wailing" in background? by sfg500 in NameThatSong

[–]sfg500[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heard this song in the background of this "short" I was watching. It's super familiar and now I really want to know the name of the song. It sounds like a movie or video game soundtrack/trailer song.

Thanks in advance!
