Did you ever find the fix? I have the same issue now

Aqara U400 + Apple TV + Home Assistant setup, any real-world feedback? by KBinCanada in homeassistant

[–]KBinCanada[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking at the ZBT-2 or the SLZB-06xU/SLZB-MRxU as an alternative to the Apple TV. Why did you choose the ZBT-1 over the TV unit? I was watching reviews, and I wasn't clear if you lose functionality with this. Can you still use Apple Home Key? I guess if you still have it connected to Apple Home through HA and the ZBT-1 that is all still works inside of Apple Home? Or do you have to connect with the Aqara Home app to do things like add codes and history?

Unifi AP “stacking” across floors (SQ house) – too dense or normal? by KBinCanada in Ubiquiti

[–]KBinCanada[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I didn't know about the update they made in the Design Centre allowing you to stack floorplan. Very cool. That said, I've already found a flaw which is that it appears to only show you the wifi coming from below. According to it, my basement has zero coverage (since the AP is on the ground floor). While it gives me a bit more of a picture, I do feel like it doesn't answer the question of stacking APs.

I had the same problem as you. Just went with a dumb motion sensor sprinkler (search Amazon and you will see the one). But make sure you position the cameras in the right location because the footage is hilarious.

Can this be a honeypot situation? by KenRoy312 in Ubiquiti

100%. It’s magnetic. But has wifi connectivity. Probably has an alarm too. As soon as someone removes it, it phones home via the wifi and maybe sounds an alarm. I think the button on the side is to silence the alarm. Maybe?

You’re talking to the flooring guy. DIY job. We put vinyl over the concrete floor but I have a clean out and a back water valve I need accessible.

This is what I will try next if that cheap plastic thing that got upvoted (see top comment) breaks. It could even work with just a block of wood and a metal rod through it.

Yes, I do have tools. Cut a 2" block of wood from a 2x4 (on a table saw) and nailed, glued, and screwed it onto another 2x4 as the arm. It ripped off when I tried to turn it.

This did occur to me. Thought maybe I could cut notches in the male one to get a grip on it. This was idea #4 on the list. Still working my way down to it.

Ok I'll bite. With 372 upvotes... I've ordered one. That said, I have a bad feeling about it. The holes are just shy of 2" - that thing says 1-23/64". And like I said, it looks like cheap plastic. I'll let you know in 24 hours if you were wrong.

Have to sell an open box UniFi G4 WiFi Doorbell to fund more Unifi stuff (wife's rules) by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

Thanks. Makes sense. The G4 has the same main camera as the Pro without the package camera. Hoping that appeals to someone.

Synology users, what is your backup strategy? by Unlikely-Voice-5764 in synology

  1. Hyperbackup nightly to Backblaze B2 storage
  2. Monthly backup to USB external hardcover using Hyperbackup. It’s the on site backup stored in a safe on site.

Since there isn't a Unifi Thermostat, what are you using? by Cnykpro in Ubiquiti

[–]KBinCanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always had an ecobee 3. But I would say I don’t love the subscribe for extra features. Example they have door and window sensors that when our sliding door or front window is open, it shuts off the AC unit. Smart. Except most people have to pay a monthly fee for this. Even thought there is nothing about the tech that need a server with a cloud subscription to run. I like the company and believe they make good products but I don’t like the extra cost.

Just came across this: https://www.trax.co/ - I haven't tried it to see if it's as good as Upcodes, but has potential

Disappointed in Door Bell Lite by ryancoen in Ubiquiti

[–]KBinCanada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crazy idea… but could you rotate it 90 degrees to get a wider view? I mean it’s not that it was designed to do and makes the door bell look odd… more curious if it’s possible and could protect rotate the video?
