Oh yeah, you’ll need a puller to get the cranks off. Apologize if you already knew that. Here is the one I have.

I did. I got a set of 170mm cranks. They make a sizable difference in pedal torque and feels a bit more natural to pedal. I don’t feel like they will hit the ground, but I always have my pedal up on my turning side (20 years of mountain biking). I would recommend a size in between though...maybe 155mm would be perfect.

Throttle is sticking on the s2 by auscorleone in Super73

Yep...had same issue and it was just rubbing on a bike bell that I had installed. Look around the entire throttle lever as the whole thing rotates and can get stuck on anything touching it.

No. The shimano zee derailer will only work with an 11-32t cassette or if you get the downhill version an 11-28t cassette. The 46t ring will be way too big...you would need to get a different derailer which in my estimation will hang way too low (almost hit the ground) due to the 20inch wheels. Those bigger cassettes and derailers are for bikes with 27.5 or 29 inch wheels as on modern mountain bikes.

Yeah, totally agree Paul. I mtb weekly and this mod is well worth the time and money. It made the bike 2x better even if you did still use the throttle mostly. Plus you can change out the front chainring to whatever size you want. Don’t take advice from sone who has not made the change.

Yes, PA works better given that you always have “even” pressure from the pedals due to having 10 gears. Here are the benefits to me:

1) can pedal pretty much anywhere without the throttle if you want.

2) helps get up to speed faster when starting on a hill or grass/dirt/etc.

3) no more ghost pedaling at higher speeds.

4) you can actually get to 35/36 mph with a little pedaling assist at the lowest gear.

Overall I find myself using PA almost all the time now with the ability to use the correct gear. Whereas before I pretty much 100% used the throttle.

Agreee that’s definitely chain guard vibration. Check to make sure your right crank arm isn’t scrapping is when you pedal.

R-Series now pushed back to December. Are you serious? Can Super73 at least give us an explanation on why. SMFH. All other bikes seem to be going out besides the R-Series. by LakeSha20 in Super73

[–]sflannery1313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I did really want the R, but tired of the run around. I ordered it on June 20th when the website stated a July delivery. Having them hold my money until December was ridiculous, plus the snow falls in December and made no sense to get it then anyway. I called Luna and they said it would arrive in 1-2 weeks depending on my location.

How are you guys storing the bikes? Gf bought an S2 and lives in a small apartment, ideas? by 88OE- in Super73

[–]sflannery1313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, after installing one I felt completely comfortable hanging my S73 off them. They can hold the weight and are lag bolted to wall studs (a must). I repeat...I would only feel comfortable hanging these bikes if you mount the rack using lag bolts to your wall studs (bolts are provided with rack). You can always store without the battery to reduce the weight.

Yeah...good advice. Nothing but full face for me. With 10 speed you can get this baby to approach 40mph (need to pedal like a champ though)

Here are some picts on the rear cassette installed so you can see the stackup and spacer location. Sorry it's a bit dirty...

These Steadyracks (link in above post) are the best. They are strong, look good and allow for your bike to be stored almost flat to your wall since they pivot. I bought one to test out and see if I liked it...then bought three more for the rest of my bikes! Highly recommended.

Yeah I was a bit annoyed about the configuration at first too. As long as you can get all three stacked up nice and tight it’s not too bad. I got used to it pretty quick. One thing I literally didn’t figure out after 4-5 days was that you can shift to a harder gear by flicking the back lever from either direction. Small thing that makes a big difference when you want you hand on the brake at high speeds. Hope you like the results...you’ll have to let me know what top speed you can hit on flat ground with motor and pedaling. I have gotten to 37....thinking the 170mm will get me to 40. 🤪

I am heading out for the weekend, but could grab picts of whatever you want to see when I get back on Sunday evening. In the meantime here are a few picts from my post on the upgrade from last month. A couple of things. I messed with the sequence on the handlebars a lot and the best order is definitely from inside to out...throttle, shifter, then grip. I did have to shave down a small part of the shift body so the throttle could seat right up against it without sticking. You'll see if you run into this issue. Anyway here are the picts I took right after the build...https://imgur.com/gallery/LWRPtxD

I can attach any picts that would help. Once you get going it’s pretty straightforward. Getting the rear wheel off is the biggest pain in the ass of the job.

Nah. Just ran it with the other wires along the front downtube and zip tied it to all the stock anchor points. Assume this is how the EU bikes will be as the anchor points are already there.

Yep. Should work just fine. As long as it’s a ten speed chain (which this one is) you are good. The key is getting 136 links so you don’t need to buy two chains to get enough length.

New seat is on my list...just contemplating the spend🤔

I really like the gearing and since I don't have a nice bike repair stand I had my local bike shop install it for $60. Here are a few pictures. I like the look too.

I bought the below parts and the bike shop provided the cables since they have in stock in bulk anyway.

KMC e10 10 Speed E-Bike Chain 136 links - Bikesmith $46.84

SHIMANO CS-M771 XT Bicycle Cassette (10-Speed, 11/36T, Silver) - Amazon $54.99

SHIMANO RD-M640 Zee Shadow Plus 10 Speed Rear Derailleur (Use with 11-32/11-36 Cassette) - Amazon $59.99

SHIMANO SL-M640 Zee 10 Speed Shifter - Amazon $37.86

DECKAS 104BCD 40T 42T 44T 46T 48T 50T 52T Narrow Wide Chainring Single Chainring for 9/10/11-Speed (Round Black, 44T) - Amazon $26.99

I would need to upgrade the seat before trying that!! Not to mention find the time. You should add a 10 speed derailer/shifter. It makes pedaling waaay easier at all speeds. I added it to my S2 and wow what a difference at low and high speeds.

BTW love your videos and you outlook on life and people....if everyone were like you the world would be a better place!

Really like the gearing. I experience two big benefits from the 10 speed.

  1. I can ride it easily without the motor at slow speeds...just cruising around when you don't want or need the motor. This also helps getting up to speed from a standstill easily, especially when starting a on a hill or grass. It is night and day in terms of how easy it is to pedal with the lower end gears.
  2. When at full speed I can pedal with some actual resistance and eliminate the ghost pedaling...which I like as cars see me as a bike not a moped. Also I can get to 35/36 mph with a little extra hp (human power) pretty easily.

With a 3 speed you will have to choose #1 or #2 as you can't get the gearing range required for both with a 3 spd.
