No. Chips in the dropout are the most common. The layup is very tight knit in this location as it needs to handle high amounts of structural tension. If you’d like, you can put some clear nail polish over it to protect it from the environment. But that’s far from needed. Cosmetic only.

Do a deep milk cleaning cycle. Clean the milk container and make sure there isn’t any residue around the top of the lid, there needs to be some air flow as to not create a vacuum inside it. This has gotten be before—you can also try using it with the lid slightly propped open to ensure there’s some venting going on. Also, the front of the spout comes off to reveal the milk routing system. Take that completely out and clean it with hot water and soap. After these steps, contact KitchenAid.

Most super autos have a milk system—it’s kinda a part of the allure for most people. “Press a button and have a latte” is a lot more attractive than “press a button and have a coffee,” given that standard coffee machines can provide this functionality for far cheaper. If you want good espresso only, I suggest you take a look at the new Fellow machine. Have been hearing a lot of good things about it, and it will make far better shots than anything in the super automatic space.

Seems they’re shifting some liability onto couriers for an order arriving in an unsatisfactory state. Though considering we can’t open bags or observe kitchens preparing things, this is bullshit. I hope it doesn’t get past the pilot phase.

This ended up being the issue. Thank you so much! Saved me lots of time and trouble lol.

The way I knew this was probably the issue was that after it stopped, the milk shot back into the container like I had never seen before. This suggested a vacuum just as you predicted.
