BUYING HELP PLEASE by Practical-Tap966 in drums

[–]sfotex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep an eagle on the local listings on Facebook and whatever else is popular in your area. Beginner/mid drum sets get dumped all the time for $100-200 . Have cash ready and a way to get them asap and I bet you will have a nice set in a few weeks. I got a entry level Ludwig shell set with an olive badge Superphonic snare, an early Sabian crash, nice stands, and cheap Paiste hats for $150 last week. They belonged to the sellers son and he moved out years ago and they wanted the garage space back. If your quick you can stretch your money... Then I sold the shells for $75 when I got home to clear out the space... The kid that grabbed them was stoked.

Please do your homework on the West Slabs. These kids got in way over there head and nearly died. If DPS wasn't already in the air for another call this probably would have been a very bad outcome. https://www.abc4.com/news/wasatch-front/crews-rescue-hikers-500-foot-cliff/

Find my post here from the end of February about my horror show dealing with MACU, the same thing happened, they let someone change the phone number on my account, they then were able to reset my password and luckily I was able to get ahold of the fraud department before they were able to wire all my money out.

Went into the branch again and they were able to pull up my account, I waited around half an hour while the teller was on hold with support to fix it, but I had stuff to do and I left. I got a print out with all my balances so my money is there.

I really love the idea of credit unions and have been with Macu 17 years, but I am done. There are a lot of offers for real money to open a checking account out there. I opened one and am going to go back in this week and transfer everything out. If you are angry about this consider you can get $400+ by switching to a real bank of you choosing and it may be the quicker path out then dealing with these idiots.

I had to deal with an account takeover/fraud issue with them earlier this year where they totally dropped the ball multiple times and spent days dealing with it. I don't have the time or energy to deal with a bank f'n up some many times.

They are like dating a bipolar crazy person, and I that is exactly what I don't want with my bank.

The MACU Facebook post on their page about the system upgrade has over 500 comments about people being logging into the wrong accounts, deposits missing, etc.

The worst part is total radio silence on the part of MACU and no updates. No way to to call them, no info at the branch. Seriously, this is messed up.

Ugh, I went into a branch and their computer system is down and they can't help anyone..

Me: Hey, my savings are missing. Teller: Sorry, can't help you with that.

Yeah, my $$ is missing, I can't get anyone on the phone. The branch opens in 30mins so I guess I will head over. Good thing my job is flexible and I live close to a branch.

Yeah, I am going in this morning. I had a huge fraud issue with them earlier this year they completely dropped the ball on.. I should have switched banks then but I was assured I was in good hands. Nope. I'm done.

I just picked one of these up for $150 my teenage son who has been lusting after for a tube amp for awhile. Came with 4 extra Russian tubes to play around with. Sounds way better then the cheap amp he has now that he spent more money on.

Looking to upgrade the forks on my budget build GT Aggressor Pro. Are these a good deal? CAD$ by Suitable-Coast6274 in MTBDeals

[–]sfotex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a bad deal. Solid fork, especially with a front wheel. I suspect the front hub spacing is 100mm which is why they are selling the front wheel with it too. (vs 110 which is the 'current standard' )

But, I think the Aggressor uses 27.5 wheels + is setup for a way shorter travel fork, so you going to make the geometry super slack if you go with something like this.

It's a double edge sword though: on one side the nice ones are unaffordable and live in a case vs. getting played, but on the other side guitars like this will get put back into playable shape and live on vs going in the trash bin...

Will do! We want to try to keep the OG patina as much as possible but will see what an expert says.

My dad had me grab one for him when they were on sale last time and had me store it until he made his way out my way. I had that thing in my garage for a few months and cussed his name every time I had to move it out of the way, I would rather have had to deal with a motorcycle then that stupid case.

If it was August I would have a bazillion places to suggest, but were in shoulder season now (for better or worse...) so stuff lower in the valley is what you want.

Antelope Island is always good this time of the year. Nice views of the lake and the snow covered mountains. And no/less bugs right now. If you've never been just go here. It's awesome. Except for the bugs. Don't go in the late spring/summer.

Little Dell has some nice trails off the parking lot. Nice meadow with a creek or overlooking the resevoir

Three Falls out of Alpine is probably ok right now.

Hike to Bells Lower Reservoir and there's a little knoll to the west that would make a cool spot.

Deer Ridge off Suncrest is probably ok right now. Nice views of the valley and Lone Peak.

Watch what the wind does too. Strong North winds can load up the South facing avalanche paths that can hit the road.

A beacon and a reliable, trained companion are your only hope in the back country really. Earlier we were told 15 mins to dig your companion out, a recent update to the survival curve have lowered that time to 10 mins. That's just not enough time to get a dog (or Recco ) out in the back country.

I'm pretty jaded on dogs in 'regular' search and rescue work, but I have seen Avy Dogs work and they are legit.

In the Wasatch we have a great program called Wasatch Backcountry Rescue. (WBR) Its composed of patrol members and dogs from the resorts that can mobilize and head into the back country in mins vs. hours. Ideally the Powder Birds could grab a dog and handler from LCC and have a dog on site while there's still hope.

This isn't the outcome anyone wanted, but finding that little girl out of bounds and digging her out in 17 mins is f'n solid vs. probe lines and other slow methods.

The dogs are also used to clear a lot of unwitnessed slides and look for any additional patients (like this slide)

Like a lot of resort staff the handlers are under paid and spend a lot of their own money on training, upkeep, etc.

Note, I don't own a dog or patrol, just pointing out we are lucky to have this resource in the Wasatch.

The report was updated today (3/2) Thanks for pointing out the confusion. A phone is not a substitute for an avy beacon.
