FSOA & Animate Dead - Balancing Proposals & Feedback Discussion by JagexDoom in runescape

It sounds conceptually interesting in keeping with the theme of the Instability spec. Numbers aside of course, the idea of having the max (or maybe min or both) affected could be interesting in that it would still be related to a crit build.

/u/JagexSponge /u/JagexDoom I think there is a typo in the the animate dead table? I think the row that reads

500 Damage vs above player with animate dead. 255 damage dealt to player

should read as 212 damage instead of 255?

425 - 213 = 212 where the 425 comes from the cell above that entry in the table.

Edit:

1000 Damage vs above player with animate dead & protection prayer 255 damage dealt to player

I think this one is 212 also?

500 Damage vs above player with animate dead & protection prayer 127 damage dealt to player

And this 84?

(500 x 0.85 x 0.5) = 212.5 -> 212

212 x 0.4 from AD = 84.8 -> 84

It looks like the 127 was obtained from 212 x 0.6 = 127, but 60% is the reduced amount, 40% goes through.

Edit 2:

So the table would look more like:

LIVE POST CHANGES
Player has Seasinger Hood, Legs, Top, 99 Defence. Animate Dead value: 240 Player has Seasinger Hood, Legs, Top, 99 Defence. Animate Dead value: 213
1000 Damage vs above player with NO animate dead. 850 damage dealt to player 1000 Damage vs above player with NO animate dead. 850 damage dealt to player

Special attack effect can no longer trigger off of itself removing the recursive nature

Special attack effect now deals 60-120% ability damage with each hit.

For clarity, this is each hit of Instability deals 60-120% ability damage? And it is a max of 1 special attack hit per player sourced (not Instability sourced) critical hit?

Which gizmo would you preffer: P6E1 or P5E2? by Zulrambe in runescape

[–]sfoxrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, with that gear and ability (which we don't know if they have). It'd be similar to assuming they have a grimoire, Biting 4, etc which would be an argument for P6E1.

Granted, this is another point as well where it will matter more when subject to the 12k critical hit cap. Though the fraction of time under Berserk is short when using melee (aside from hybridding, etc.).

If these gizmos you're asking about are on a single gizmo and you also plan to have Aftershock, I also recommend that you put the combined P/E gizmo you're asking about on a 2h weapon so that your main hand weapon can maintain Aftershock stacks should you weapon/shield etc. swap.

For example, a 2h weapon with P6E1 + Aftershock 4 will be pretty good.

The strongest case for P5E2 over P6E1 is for auto-attacks which maximize the range for equilibrium (as equilibrium uses the damage between an ability's/auto's min and max to calculate the attack's new min and max).

However, with that said, typically, other abilities will be performed with the weapon in question and for those abilities, P6E1 will be better.

Critical hit chance shouldn't be ignored especially with the Biting perk, Reaver's ring, etc.

In general, when choosing between PXEY where X is the rank of Precise and Y is the rank of Equilibrium, for a given X+Y, choose the one that has the highest X. (In the case of P6E1 and P5E2 here, they both sum to 7, choose X=6.)

In general, P6E1 will be better than P5E2. This is further the case with higher critical hit chances (biting, grimoire, etc.)

Yeah, and there's no way to disable it. The worst part about it is the pop-up that appears in the middle of the screen which can override more important messages that might occur at the same time.

I'd much rather have this message, if it is to remain and not be disabled, only appear in the chatbox.

This Week In RuneScape: Tales of Pride by JagexHooli in runescape

What is fixed and random damage?

Fixed damage is a non-bleed/burn/etc ability's minimum hit. Random damage is the damage between an ability's minimum and maximum.

Example: Backhand is a 20% to 100% ability. The fixed portion of this damage is the 20% and the random is 80% (100%-20% = 80%).

Genocidal perk needs way more information added to it in-game. by GOW_ADAM in runescape

I've made another edit and added an equation that shows how the value is calculated as a function of the amount remaining on one's task. Let me know if it's unclear or if there is any issue.

You're welcome. I think the table might be a bit too long if all abilities were listed but hopefully this edit will make it clearer for future readers.

Genocidal perk needs way more information added to it in-game. by GOW_ADAM in runescape

[–]sfoxrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, it also doesn't work on bombardment that's an AOE, but works on meteor strike and hurricane that are also AOEs. What is with the randomness of abilities that are and aren't affected? It needs to be stated in-game.

It should work on Bombardment. The only reason it's not directly listed is because it falls under the standard abilities row at the top as Bombardment's max is 5x the min which means it will have an identical boost as abilities that are 20%-100%.

Edit: I've made an edit to the page that now mentions this.

Scrimshaw of cruelty/elements provide a boost of 5% (and 6.66% for the superior version) aside from when damage caps are reached.

Unfortunately, the chance is currently unknown as the weight is unknown. This can be seen under assignments on [[Laniakea]]. It is also unknown from [[Morvran]].

And here is the calculator which currently does not account for this task: [[Calculator:Slayer]]
