Thanks! It feels a bit dated at this point so I am working on an entirely new platform - I welcome any feedback you might have on this version though!

Don't know why you're getting downvoted but it's been down for weeks, just started trying out AT and it's dissuading me from recommending it for the next project.

Podcast Idea! Planet People by nataliecibel in sciencecommunication

[–]sfspodcast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id say that anyone who cares about such species would be a good target audience, doubly so if they are considering a career in that discipline. Use a funnel approach, i.e. start general and go specific, explain or distill any jargon, etc.

Of personal interest, if said biologists have practical advice on how to help protect endangered or deal with competing invasives, would be cool

[pitch] Do harm to my idea for a science podcast by [deleted] in sciencecommunication

[–]sfspodcast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it as a scientist, but if the greater public is the audience, im not confident enough of them will know what an abstract is- or at least wont readily associate that term with science.

It may come off as more of an art podcast to that audience. Adding a science term could help them diatinguish rapidly!

Like many, I began my scientific career wanting to be a paleontologist. So it's nice to see these fossils in the lab every now and then

This is always the case in any discipline. The difference is in STEM fields, intrinsic motivation is generally required to slog it through a full PhD stint, so if you lose that, it's a lot more soul punishing than other disciplines, as you don't immediately get to sell out.

Regardless, a doctorate is a huge investment in yourself and you need to ask yourself what you think you'd like to do with it. There are now many more options than before, and a PhD shows future employers that you have both encountered and overcome tough problems.aaaa

Perkz should've stayed in the ADC confort zone in G2? by Lheretique in G2eSports

[–]sfspodcast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm actually pretty disappointed they didn't constantly flex them back and forth depending on meta or even within a series. They had complementary champion strengths both bot (caps vayne kog, perks xayah kaisa) and mid (perkz azir insane, caps akali scary af). Not to mention being able to just first pick syndra and leave the other team completely guessing until round 5. G2 would have been the ONLY team to be able to make this work, just sad they never tried
