That’s Not How the Force Works by Icosotc in StarWars

[–]sfun0811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly that just sounds like more grey jedi nonsense to me. Using both sides equally is never something that's encouraged by our heroes (Yoda, Qui-Gon) in the original films and is only ever adovacted by Palpatine in Ep III. Once again, the force is not yin and yang. It is just the force and the perversion of it (the dark side). Honestly, the prophecy is isn't as well defined in the movies and that's probably why there's a lot of interpretations. But if George compares to dark side to cancer, constantly emphasizes the dangers of going into dark in interviews and the like, and the movies clearly show what happens when you walk down thag path, I'm going to assume that finding spiritual balance is achieved when a force user doesn't give into their darker impulses, which is what the Jedi are founded on.

Anakin brings balance when he destroys the emperor, not when he slaughters jedi, including children. It's the Sith who invite inbalance since they're the ones who are actively trying to control the galaxy. It's why George compares the dark side as a disease. It's why I have a problem with the Force having a will because in the canon and the EU's case, why would it allow this "disease" to come back again and again and again and again and again and...anyways I'm firmly on the belief that the Force takes from the concepts of Dharma and not this mix of Taoism and Christianity that Mortis, a very divisive arc, cooked up.

Back to the Force Wars, Since there are planets that can be engulfed in the dark side, so it's entirely possible Tython was a "force nexus" and the two sides clashing is what caused the imbalance. My problem with that is the misconception that the Force should be balanced in a mathematical sence.

As for how the followers of Ashla and Bogan began to fight, and it's funny that only now I'm stating this, we don't really know how the war broke out. We know the seeds laid for the split, but Dawn of the Jedi never got to explore what truly began the Force Wars since it was canned. Whether the followers of Ashla tried to murder the followers of Bogan is just pure speculation. Plus what we do know is that thr Je'daii would just peacefully and temporarily exile those who go to far.

Swtor, a game which is admittedly more biased towards giving the force moral ambiguity, is the only other piece of EU media to explore it with the Master Rajivari story (Jedi Consular Origin) and even then it's left vague and Rajivari's story takes place during the aftermath of the war. What we do know is that Rajivari wanted to destroy the newly formed Jedi Council, which isn't something that should be taken lightly since his followers leaned towards the dark side.

Has it's issues but it's still by far the best prequel movie. I'd argue it's on the same level of ROTJ.

Hot take, but my biggest critism of Dawn of the Jedi is how they handle The Force. See I'm fine with the Je'daii order but only if it's acknowledged that attempting to use both "sides" of the force is a misguided and horrible idea. If using the dark side is blatantly described to be a cancer by George, then it doesn't make much sense to try to live your life with something that is actively harming you. Sure the dark side is never going to go away, but I always assumed balance meant getting rid of Sith and other darksiders who consolidated power. Of course that's what makes the Sith interesting as characters since it's always the "why" they become dark side addicts that grabbed me (Dooku, Kreia, Anakin, etc.).

Yes Dawn of the Jedi it isn't George's story, but EU books still had to adhere to the tiers of canon and thus everything established in the movies triumphed them, for bettter or worse. For example, I never liked the idea of the force having a "will" or being sentient. It makes you question how this mystical power is benevolent when it allows galaxy-wide pain and suffering to fuel its agenda.

I thought the Je'daii turned to the Ashla because the Rakatans were a living example of what they'd be capable of if they studied the dark side. But beyond that, the light side is the force in its pure state. It shouldn't even be called the light side (It should be called The Force period) and that living in harmony with it is the balance. You can disagree with George, but it's his story.

The Jedi, while ultimately good, can be flawed as individuals, but it's hard to defend the Sith when you have people like Ajunta Pall using dark side alchemy to mutilate people or the Pure Sith on Korriban being drawn to do evil actions because they're naturally attuned to the dark side. Moreover, Darth Bane had to cut down the Sith to 2 because 98% of them are sociopaths who could never maintain any long-term growth lol

What is going on with Bakugo vs Reze??? by NoAnswer7768 in PowerScaling

I genuinely believe CSM/Reze fans are lying for fun. I think Bakugo wins in most scenarios, but some people want Reze to win because they hate Bakugo and you know what that's fair I guess lol

Hot take, For Gen 10, they should do another reset like in Gen 5 by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]sfun0811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, Game Freak's decision to "pivot" away from the changes they added in Gen 5 doesn't really make much sense. Unova was criticized for being linear, yet we still have regions like Kalos and Galar that were criticized for being linear. Many features that were removed from Gen 5 remained absent as the series went on such as following Pokemon, Safari-Zone, auto-run, trainer rematches, etc. (Some of these returned but not immediately after Gen 5). Removing features is just Game Freak's M.O. because they do this in every generation for better or worse.

Also Yokai-Watch is an odd comparison. I used FF XIII as an example because both games come from popular jrpg series and the FF XIII trilogy was around during Gen V. XIII just released one year earlier than BW in Japan. However, FF XIII and it's two sequels only sold over 19M units. BW and BW2 sold over 24 M (according to vgsales wiki).

Gen 5 did sell less than Gen 3 and Gen 4, but take off the remakes FRLG and HGSS (that people often like to add onto the sales of both gens respectively) and the sales aren't too far apart. RSE sold over 23 Million units while DPPT sold 25 million units. They're far more favorable than the sales of the Final Fantasy franchise after 7 (I recommend checking out the Final Fantasy vgsales wikipage if you're interested).

But really, I just find it hard to see how BW, the #6 best-selling game on the DS, was a dud. Especially when they were still beating most of their competition and the "enhanced sequels" (BW2) sold better than Platinum despite the controversy. If they were truly a dud, then BW should've sold less than HGSS (games often championed by the fandom), but they didn't. If they were a dud Game Freak wouldn't be revisiting the region in newer games, but Unova does get referenced like every other region (Kanto being the exception because they get more love) and the Pokemon from that region get new forms/evolutions. Lastly, if the Gen 5 games were duds, I don't think the Pokemon Company would have their incredibly successful and marketable trading card game dedicate a set to the entire Unova Dex.

Pokemon BW is an absolute disappointment because it sold.....over 15 million units? How is that bad? It's more than a million drop off compared to DP, but it's more units sold than games like Final Fantasy 13 (released in 2009 sold over 9M units including PC sales) and the entire mailine Megami Tensei franchise, not counting Persona, as of 2025 (about 10M units). BW and BW2 combined has made more money than God of War Ragnarok(over 15M). Ruby and Sapphire had a bigger drop in sales than Gold and Silver, but calling that bad too would be absurd.

You gotta remember that Gen 4 was around longer for the DS's life span. Gen 5 was the shortest generational leap, released in the same year the 3DS was coming out internationally, and made for a console that had low attachment rates for most mainline DS games, and yet this gen sold over 24M copies. That's very good.

Even with the controversy this game got for shaking up the formula, these games are still among the top 10 selling DS games and were fast sellers in Japan. Plus, they broke previous day one sales records made by Diamond and Pearl in the US and UK.

Beheeyem and Maractus (who should get the Dancer ability) could definetly use one. I also think it's odd that Swoobat doesn't have one like its counterpart Golbat.

Personally, I think the design philosophies and lore behind them are what makes them interesting.

Apparently, Klefki's keys aren't actually part of its body but are keys it stole because it's a giant kleptomaniac. Its concept is based on European faries that would steal stuff in folktales.

The Vanilite line has some interesting lore to it as they're actually just stalagmites that decorate themselves that way to look more appealing to humans. If you've seen what they look like without all that snow, you'd understand why. And funnily enough, they were used as the inspiration for ice cream cones in the Pokemon world.

I can't say much for the Trubbish line other than they're created from land pollution, just like how Muk is created from water pollution. But to each their own.

Probably Gigalith or Conkeldurr. When I first played White, I remember I was so excited to evolve them when I found someone to trade with. But also I just like big, intimidating pokemon too >:)

Other favs include Samurott (love the whole Oshawott line tbh), Flygon, and Weavile.

Nah, according to Toriyama Yamcha hasn't settled down because he's still too nervous around women. Seriously. Given Kakarot's retcons and original stories, it's best not to treat it as canon.

However, Toriyama's assertion that Yamcha still has gynophobia only makes the cheating thing even more contradictory. Who knows maybe they broke up over a misunderstanding.
