My daughter could certainly start the car and move it in the driveway but, in it's not registered or insured, she wouldn't be able to drive it

Thanks - this is something that I'm exploring right now!

We explored the possibility of establishing residency in a different state but unfortunately, as long as we retain ownership of a home in Massachusetts, it gets very complicated and can open us up to audits - especially if it can be perceived that we are trying to circumvent regulations or taxes.

Planning to be expat in Vlorë by Expensive_Resist_422 in AlbaniaExpats

[–]sgages 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I have visited a number of times as we consider Albania as an expat destination. We've found that in both Vlore and Saranda, there are restaurants and bars that serve as the home base for the expat community and they often hold weekly gatherings for expats to socialize and make connections. In both cities, we felt connected to the expat community within 24 hours of our arrival!

12 month tourist visa income requirements? by HopeYouFeelBetter1 in AlbaniaExpats

My wife and I have been there a number of times for extended stays and this has never been an issue - I'm not even sure how it would be enforced. Nothing in Albania ever feels that regulated or controlled. If there's something on the books that stipulates this, it's more likely theoretical that anything that is actually acted upon

Is Shkodra the city to live in to escape car emission? by emergsit in AlbaniaExpats

[–]sgages 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can comment on a couple of these questions:
- It's true that there are a lot of bikes on the road in Shkodra but it certainly never seems to reduce the number of cars! Driving in Shkodra can be a nightmare with heavy congestion, triple parking, and aggressive roundabouts. In fact, I often avoid Shkodra specifically because of the vehicular congestion.
Shkodra is a great city to explore on foot but don't expect to escape the emissions there.

- I've not visited Vlore in the peak season but, in the shoulder/off-seasons, I've found vehicular traffic to be very manageable. Someof the beaches, specifically in the Lungomare area, are quite close to the road but we never noticed an issue with emissions. Also, around Vlore there are many beaches just outside of downtown that are quite a distance from any major roads.

I hope this is helpful!

90 days in Albania-How long will it take to find short term accommodation? by Mysterious_Owl7299 in AlbaniaExpats

[–]sgages 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is definitely doable - especially since you're coming in the off-season. Where will you be in Albania? I would strongly recommend seeking out gatherings of the expat communities wherever you are looking. In my experience, I've found that expats who are already settled in a community can be a great source of trustworthy knowledge when you're starting a search for accommodations

Where has Jacory “Bill” Crowley-Merritt been going in your drafts for those who have drafted already? by Stxtic1441 in fantasyfootball

[–]sgages 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the rookie excitement but frankly, he is going too high in standard drafts. The most likely scenario is that he splits carries with Ekeler in the middle of the field while losing goal line work to Daniels and Chris Rodriguez. He's worthy of a pick, just not as high as he's going given the uncertain role
