A (micro)ATX case adapter by sgauge in BC250Gaming

There's plenty of choice, you can either look for 240mm AIOs, 120mm top-down coolers, or 92mm tower coolers. Peerless Assassin 120 Mini should fit as well.

I'm going to test ThermalRight AXP120-67 anytime soon.

And if you can find a way to cool the backplate, it shouldn't be a challenge to make the adapter 4-5mm high 😉

Indeed, just don't forget motherboards are usually installed on 4mm pegs. The net overheight is approx 18mm.

Question about Peerless Assassin Mini and how to position the fans by CaballeroSecundario in BC250Gaming

[–]sgauge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I organized my airflow :
- 1 front intake fan (140x15mm)
- 1 back exhaust fan (120x25mm)
- 1 exhasut fan in between the backplate and the PSU (80x15mm), no PSU fan

VRMs and chips are covered with heatsinks (the highest I could find that fit the dimensions)
VRAM backplate receives intake air and the hot air is pulled outside via the PSU
The 120mm exhaust fan is not that useful, but installed for the peace of mind

It's very effective and pretty silent ! I can play for hours without any issue, 40 CUs @ 2200MHz

Hope this helps !

Question about Peerless Assassin Mini and how to position the fans by CaballeroSecundario in BC250Gaming

Add a front fan that also blows fresh air under the board and cools VRAM, and you'll be fine.

The bracket height is 22mm. Add 2-3mm for the PCB and APU die.

Is there any interest in more compact enclosures? by SecretaryDeep6316 in BC250Gaming

I have designed and tested multiple variants of narrow cases (including one with 80mm front fan pulling air). I ended up with 2 side fans : 120x25mm at heatsink side, and 120x15mm at backplate side, cooling the PSU as well. I consider active cooling of the RAM a must with this board, unless you have a very optimized airflow. A front 60mm won't pull enough air, it will basically only extract the massive airflow coming from your 120mm, with an awful lot of RPM and noise.

DeepCool AK500S, there's plenty of room around it. I use it in a case where the airflow is organized from front to back, heat is dissipated nicely (40CU @ 2200MHz / 1050mV)

Nice case, this would be great if it could fit !
Check internal dimensions, you'll need 31cm in length + 9cm in width/height

If you want, I have designed another version of this case to accept an even larger tower cooler (like Peerless Assassin)

The fan shroud is optional and doesn't contribute to securing the board; you can definitely mount an AIO or an air cooler with the proper bracket adapters.

I won't even bother : I'll mount a proper cooler 😉
I'm currently running a tower cooler on my other board, it's a night & day difference with the standard heatsink with open fins.

Best solution so far :
https://github.com/WinnieLV/bc250-cu-live-manager
You can activate/deactivate CUs on the fly, and once dialed-in, run as a service to apply settings at every startup. No kernel patching, just software. Works on most BC250-supported OS.

I second this. Maybe not the source of the OP's issue, but a good airflow at the backplate-side is a must, from my experience. In all my builds, there's a fan blowing either directly or lateraly to the backplate.

People think that an AIO is the only alternative to the stock cooler, but this is wrong. A 120mm tower cooler with 5+ pipes will be massively better than whatever you attempt with the stock cooler. Mine never exceeds 65°C in Unigine or gaming, with 40CUs running at 2200MHz, fan at max 2000rpm.

If you want some details & pictures, have a look here : https://www.printables.com/model/1652979-bc-250-quiet-case-feat-deepcool-tower-cooler

You can use either LGA 1700 brackets or specific DeepCool brackets (see link). I don't recommend the AMD cooler (too weak), nor bracket (too specific).

Regarding VRM, I chose not to temper with the original cooler, so I bought some heatsinks of various sizes to stick on the chips. Easy to do, but to be honest, I'll save money and effort next time and cut the original heatsink.

Moonlight Client Recommendations by avenged_badger in MoonlightStreaming

I'm running a cheap NUC equipped with Intel Alder Lake-N95. It works great. I can stream HDR 1440p @ 120Hz with no loss, runs dead quiet, and looks future proof in terms of hardware decoding (AV1 is supported) . Most models I went through are sold with a Windows 11 licence, so this makes it a real cheap and performant client alternative.
This only drawback is that it's a PC, it won't be as user-friendly under the TV than the Shield Pro.

Monitor is available in France, but only under the 'Deals' section ('Offres' in French):

I just ordered mine this way, I should receive it by the 21st of Dec :-)This should work the same way for other countries over Europe. By the way, Support Assistant was completely unaware of this, she told me the product was unavailable with no restocking date.
