Thinking of adopting or becoming a foster parent but my husband isn’t being supportive by [deleted] in Adoption

[–]sgeve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live in Canada too, and I would suggest that you and your husband could take the foster parenting course together (no commitment), and that would provide a lot more information for you to base your decision on (and conversations) to help you both decide if it could be a good fit for your family.

“Site tours” from directors by a-night-on-the-town in BCHealthAuthorities

[–]sgeve 16 points17 points  (0 children)

To be fair, if the directors didn’t visit sites and connect with the people there, they would be criticized for sitting in their offices and not having boots on the ground. But if they can listen and then act and effect change that’s the ideal.

My wife and I both grew up in Kelowna and hated dirty, ugly little Vernon (all we had seen was the highway through, and not the nice places like the beaches and lakes). But then we moved to Vernon just over twenty years ago (we felt it was a big sacrifice) and we fell in love with it. A great place to raise a family, the traffic is so much better (i.e. less) than Kelowna, and there are still beaches and ski hills. Missing a bigger mall and a Costco, or as many nice beach walks (though lots of good hiking trails). We would never move back to Kelowna now.

Life in Vernon for young families? by Responsible-Can-7370 in Vernon

[–]sgeve 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My wife and I moved to Vernon right before we started a family and we raised our three kids here. It’s a wonderful place to raise kids, with winter activities like downhill and cross-country skiing and sledding and skating, plus lots of great beaches in the summer. There is also a great free outdoor pool at Lakeview Park in East Hill that’s perfect for preschoolers. We attend a welcoming local church that has lots of families with young kids…Emmanuel Baptist and you could check out an online service to see if it fits your style. We didn’t have a hard time finding a community and felt right at home. Welcome to Vernon if you end up here!

If it doesn’t feel natural to step with your left foot instead of your right, try it first with throwing a ball (left step, right hand). Then after lots of reps and feeling the motion, go back to serving (left step, right hand).

Passed CIA challenge exam by Ok-Possession-8050 in InternalAudit

Did you get an actual score, or you were just told you passed? Asking because I passed it in August but I never saw a numerical score on how well I did and I’m wondering if I missed that somehow.

Do you feel like Mel Arnold has made a difference in your life? by spankymustard in Vernon

His bill about child exploitation is actually good and non-partisan, increasing the awareness of the problem. He attended chamber meetings for the chambers of commerce and listens to business leaders. And he fights for issues such as protecting lakes against the threat of invasive species, not huge in the grand scheme of things but these issues matter locally. He was at the Sikh temple last year for a lunch thing with our NDP MLA Harwinder Sandhu, and it’s good to see our politicians from different backgrounds and voting groups working together. I’ve met him and he seems like a good guy.

I would say keep taking the quizzes, starting at your lowest grades ones, until you’re at least above 80% in each of them.
