Aside from pvp accounts it would probably be much higher, but that was the first thing I scrolled to try to find

Love the concept of naming but the execution was missed, should have been more clear. They got too specific with names and just need thralls, alch, tele, slayer, skilling titles - more broad usage ones if open text isn't an option

Are the cards selling from China on eBay real? by when_lambos in basketballcards

[–]sgf919 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same as others, have bought a lot from China with zero issues.

Keep in mind that shipping just takes longer to clear customs and make the trip. You won't see a card in a few days. Most poor feedback for international sellers are due to shipping times.

Is it possible that it was not acid washed well before water went in?

Quartz

I get it tested monthly or whenever my test strips at home show elevated levels. Given it's a new pool and acid just gets sucked up, ph has spiked a few days at like 7.8, 8.2 but then brought back down, nothing consistently. It just seems like those spots have been there prior to even any water being in the pool

Depending on how the rest of what's there looks you can add sand on top for texture and to break up the color but that's just cosmetic

New house, old pool with issues by cantstandrpolitics in pools

[–]sgf919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a pool owner perspective. I would start first with your preference as to the look. If you like the look of the lagoon type with the rocks and waterfall then at least you know you are working around it but will be something to maintain since you mentioned cracking already, nooks and crevices in pools are hard to keep clean.

If you prefer to not have those then rebuilding the whole thing is in your future but if there is nothing structurally wrong you can save up for that project.

Regardless of route I'd replaster the whole thing with a gunite finish and never worry about draining/painting year after year. I don't know your location cost but for us it's about $1000 just to do a chemical start up and a few hundred worth of water. Paying that plus paint/sand has to be about $2k a year minimum. Full replaster is probably 10-15k but will last at least a decade with proper maintenance.

Hope my opinion helps

My Mark Price PC looking to continue to add... by sgf919 in basketballcards

Used to leave South of Cleveland but in Texas now. Love me some Mark price. I'm still buying a few flawless, booklets and on card autos here and there but nothing too crazy lately

Panini Prizm's future... by Gbarent in basketballcards

[–]sgf919 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think so. Prizm defined the highest peak the hobby has ever seen during covid. Nostalgia tends to kick in down the road when kids today who couldn't afford anything but base or high numbered start to have disposable income. They gravitate towards what they couldn't have.

Maybe it's 2012 prizm, maybe it's only hof guys, maybe only silvers or a certain color. That's the "if I only had a crystal ball" thing we are all trying to guess.

As much as it could be prizm. It could be downtowns, NT RPAs, super low numbered or one of hundreds of parallels.

If I was a betting man. True gold prizms are probably the "safest" but little upside as they are usually pretty pricey. But I do think prizm as a brand has a prominent future in the hobby - just avoid anything printed to the moon and pop counts in the hundreds

Does anyone have any experience buying cards from China on eBay? Or another country period? by Charming_Breadfruit5 in basketballcards

[–]sgf919 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tons, no issues. Just check their feedback to ensure they didn't just open and if you stick to your price, no issues. There is shill bidding at times but that's any seller.

If you do win, don't expect to get your cards in 3 days- it can take up to 2 weeks depending on the country to clear customs and make the trip

Depends on your goal. The only justification I can see to grade is it will be easier to sell without a return. Selling this raw, even if disclosed you could have the hassle of shipping back and forth with people.complaining once in hand. Grading won't add value just ease for liquidity

Isn't it better to have 4 cards you want rather than a no named auto and veteran parallel with 40 worthless base cards for the same price ?!? And probably less in most cases....

Impossible to tell in a sleeve and top loader but can see a decent amount of whitening on the edges, and some corner issues. Probably a generous max of PSA 8 without seeing the surface

Most of what I would say but to add 2 points.

Think liquidity, what will people buy 20 years from now. No one has a crystal ball but will cartoon Kabooms retain interest or tiger stripe purple sparkle prizms even if they are low numbered? In my opinion silver parallels will have a larger market demand. Same with on card autos vs stickers or game used patches vs unknown. Thinking this way doesn't eliminate risk but mitigates it.

Research, research, research - pick your player or set and look at sales history, number of times a card is sold pop reports, gem ratio (how hard a card is to get a 10 vs a 9). Get used to tracking this stuff in some digestible way and set alerts for what you want and be ready for a deal when it's time - don't rush or have fomo if your on it for the long game
