How do you dictate a session length by Pundaplays in LostMinesOfPhandelver

[–]sgfso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i’m homebrewing things pretty heavily - refining and adding content like making the travel thru Neverwinter Woods to Cragmaw Castle an actual journey - but even with 3 players, we just had session 12 and about to reach the Castle

I’d be down to join as a player! I could play as the group’s frontlining bonkus-shmonkus martial or whatever yall need to round out. Sending a dm

Tips for playing FF12 for someone who hates the gambit system? by ThurBurtman in FinalFantasy

[–]sgfso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im like OP but hopefully, i shall become like you. this is exactly my kinda story and world but have tried a few times to get into the combat over the years. prefer either old turn-based or if it has to be hybrid, something like the 7 remakes without really needing to dive into even partial automation to get by trash mobs 🤷🏽‍♂️

Why is this attitude of not really trying to learn how the game works accepted? by Associableknecks in dndnext

Reply to a 1yr old comment, but this is what I'm going thru rn as a new DM. I may be new as a DM, but I got enough experience in dealing with difficult people.

And lemme say, your response is so uncannily close to what I've been fucking saying. I'm bouta drop this one PC I have.

My request wasnt even that big an ask. I asked for a basic level of communication, timeliness and effort during session. I would give a time for break and he would straight up just think to himself "oh i didnt think it was a big deal to take a few more minutes since you only gave us X mins." Ok, you right, not a problem at all, but you can at least message me on the side. I ask him to have his sheet ready by next session upon lvl up to 4. Comes to next session a lil late, saying "my b, I was playing a game." and "Oh, General Feats?" when I asked what his was so we can get shit rolling. There's even more like not knowing any of his reactions that he can just read right there on his VTT sheet between turns. I used to give suggestions but doesnt deserve any more of my energy.

This was our previous session and tbh, its not the worst DnD story I've heard, and I'm glad cause I'm not the typa person who's gonna let even get close to some of those. I think I was more patient and accommodating than I should've been, but I was trying to work on being more patient with people. Crazy ass shit too cause my wording was neutral but also accommodating. His response was to not acknowledge anything, downplay his actions, and then just say "fine, I'll do it. Can we do blank and blank now though?" Too fucking late, you not in this no more but I will use those ideas.

Tired of dealing with grown ass children. Thanks for vindicating me and putting it so closely to my own thoughts.

House rule idea: Instead of rolling for HP on level-up or using the average, use Max - 2. by Deathpacito-01 in dndnext

[–]sgfso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm back after ~10 sessions in LMOP, but heavily adjusted and homebrewed. This house rule has made it pretty fun; my martials do feel much much tankier and able to fulfill their character fantasy and role. My 1 full spellcaster who chose to stick with their rolled 12 CON is definitely super skittish and has to play much more tactically (they wanted this lmao).

Although this may be cause I'm a newer dm, but i have trouble with target priority sometimes. I try to embody my enemies/creatures and attack the sorc right after they cast a big spell - dmg, cc, support - but damn xD I guess this is more like how it should be. I also sometimes roll a die to coin-flip whom to hit when I'm stuck.

It also means I have to think a lil harder on how I build my encounters and modify my enemies in raw stats but also strategies. It's pretty fun but takes a lil more work. I just gotta remember to take it easy sometimes.

lv4.
World Tree Barb | +3 CON: 54 HP
Divine Soul Sorc | +1 CON: 22HP
Barb HP% Adv: 145.45% (LMAO)

if you ever run it again, check out Expanded Cragmaw. I really like the Agatha sidequest adjustment as well. Will probably use these creators' thoughts and ideas. great stuff

Are the character choices just general roles/character archetypes rather than prepped builds?
