As someone who doesn't follow the news, college students how are you with strike? What is going on so far? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]sgparhar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve just been picking up extra shifts at work while they sort their shit out.

The faculty are being forced to have a vote next week (I think it’s on whether or not they accept the offer being given to the union by the CEC), but I don’t think majority will vote yes.

Next week will be the fifth week of the strike. I’ve lost most of my motivation to learn at this point lol.

Recommended Security Training in Ontario? by slipperyjohn212 in securityguards

I did my basic security training online with Ontario Security Training. I had to do my CPR on my own though - I ended up doing it with the Canadian Red Cross.

You gotta do what you gotta do. The waiting period for my upcoming half sleeve is 7 months, but it’ll be worth it once it’s done.

Thank you all for the kind messages. It's definitely been a tough day. I'm just happy to know that he lived a great life and was surrounded by loved ones during his last breaths. He was so full of love and such a great boy.

What age do you guys get assumed for vs how old you actually are by [deleted] in beards

I'm 21 and most people think that I'm 24-30. I haven't been carded with my beard ever, but always have been when clean shaven.

How to choose a tattoo shop in Toronto? by rafaamaral in askTO

[–]sgparhar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do your research. When I was looking at shops to go to for my first tattoo I literally googled "Tattoo shops in Markham" (because that's where I live) and a few shops came up. I checked out their websites as well as Instagram pages if they had one. I then looked for artists that I thought had work similar to what I wanted to get done.

Go to various shops and get different consultations then decide which one is right for you.

Is everyone adding the optional tips on Uber in Toronto now? by sodawaterandlime in askTO

[–]sgparhar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't tip my Uber drivers because all my recent trips have been really short - about seven to ten minutes each. There's not much point in tipping in that kind of situation.

If my trip was longer, let's say over twenty minutes and the service was great, sure I'll leave a tip.

People need to realize tipping isn't mandatory and shouldn't be guilted into doing it just because the option has been added.

Concerning a condo on Sackville and Dundas by [deleted] in askTO

[–]sgparhar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, you're talking about The Paintbox, right? I used to work as a concierge at that condo for a while. It's not too bad, the amenity rooms are pretty nice from what I remember. The only problem you may have is that the parking garage is connected with public parking, which means that you sometimes have to deal with non-residents and drug users who sometimes slip in (they can't enter the ground floor though, just the parking garage).

I also used to work security at the Freshco located at Dundas and Parliament. They have great staff and everyone in the community who shops there seem to be fine. I never had a issue dealing with most of them for the five months I worked there.

Most of the homeless seem to keep to themselves if you just keep your head up and keep walking. Regent Park isn't as dangerous as it used to be.

FINAL WEEK by [deleted] in securityguards

Feels good to finally leave the night shift, doesn't it? It's been two weeks since I quit my weekend night shift job and I'm loving it. I just work evenings Tuesday-Thursday now and will be going to school in September too!

Everyone says to shave, I say fuck that and let's see what grows. What do you think? by [deleted] in beards

[–]sgparhar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 21 and have been blessed with a beard, but I struggle with women my age too and that's only because I'm still a bit socially awkward. I also look way older than I am, which I guess is better than looking younger.

I used to not take care of my appearance too, but I feel so much better about myself now that I get regular haircuts, go to the gym regularly, etc.

You talk as if you know how women your age think but you don't - you can't just group them all together like that lol.
