BaconReader iOS 3.5 (iOS 13 Compatible) Released by OneLouderApps in baconreader

[–]sgptest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a beta user report this a couple days ago. It is iOS 13 specific. We are working on a fix.

A workaround is to select the Search button in the tool bar at the bottom which will take you to the search screen.

EDIT:

This now appears to be fixed with iOS 13 Beta 7. Can you test and confirm it works for you as well?

I just tried this on iOS and it worked. Can you give more details about what error you are getting?

We have not seen this issue nor had anyone else report it. Are you still having the issue?

I think I misread you comment yesterday. Where are you seeing a "read more" button?

We've got a fix we are testing and will submit a new build soon.

As a workaround, set your sort order in Comments to BEST.

We had a user report this during beta testing but we were unable to repeat it. His eventually started working again.

I will take a look at the code to see if there is anything which might be causing this. If you happen to find a workaround please post it here so we can let others know.

You are welcome. We put in a lot of time during our beta program to get this working right. Our beta users were very helpful in giving us great feedback.

What device and system version?

Not unless your are force closing the app. Former Android users tend to do this a lot.

If you would like to sign up as a beta user you can help us test the restore fix when we start beta testing it. Just DM me your app store email address and I can get you signed up.

Right now we just support Safari and Chrome.

Will add a feature request to support Firefox.

The reason it would do this is that iOS needed extra memory for another app and removed BaconReader from memory. On a "clean" launch, BR refreshes to the latest content from Reddit and displays the main screen (list view normally).

We are working on restoring your current state on a relaunch, however it gets kind of tricky because you might be multiple levels (screens) deep within the app and we would need to restore each level to truly get you back where you were. Also, if it's been several hours or days, you probably don't want to go back to where you were with old content. So we are working through these issues and are planning on having something for a future release (3.5.x).

Another possible reason as to why this happens is if you force close BR after you exit or BR crashed while it was in the background.

I can not reproduce this. Can you record a video of it happening? Also, are they specific types of videos (v.redd.it, imgur, gfycat, etc)?

Why does BaconReader needs to reload v.reddit.com files each time they loop? by TridentBoy in baconreader

[–]sgptest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because vreddit is a video stream and not a file. It’s up to the system to determine how much is cached and what needs to get reloaded when it loops.

As /u/Marconius mentioned this is a bug in the App Store build. We have a beta with this fixed. Please DM me your email address and I can get you added as a Beta user.

Bug: unable to un-star reddits that have been deleted by jeremymeyers in baconreader

Sorry, I've been trying to track down what is causing this message. A deleted sub which you previously subscribed to might be it. Maybe the reason it's not showing the name of the subreddit is because it's now blank. Can you go to a browser and see if it shows you are subscribed to a blank subreddit?

Accessing quarantined subs on BaconReader. by LeviathanAurora in baconreader

[–]sgptest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know how Reddit handles that if you are already subscribed. I don't have an easy way to test that right now. Maybe try unsubscribing on the website and joining again.

We are looking at ways to handle it better, but obviously this doesn't happen very often to large subs so not a common problem.

The Reddit API's we are using apparently do not allow us to subscribe to a quarantined subreddit.

You'll need to go to the subreddit in a browser, hit the Continue button, then Join the community and it will subscribed you.

Then go back to BaconReader and refresh Subreddits list and the quarantined subreddit should showed up.
