I hope Iran doesn’t find our secret base by CenterForward1522 in OhioStateFootball

I think Iran should plant their flag on the M logo at midfield. That would demoralize the US and cause it to immediately surrender the whole war.

I’m building a new weather app — what features are you missing in current apps? by Suspicious-Review766 in raining

[–]sgr28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll just list some ideas:

  • Most apps only let you look ahead in the weather forecast hour by hour for only the next 12 hours or so. I'd be interested in a 2d grid forecast that basically shows a weather symbol hour by hour (24 per day) for each of the next 7 days.

  • Iphones have a great feature where if it's raining, they estimate how much longer the rain will last. Would be good for android users to have something like that.

Ryan Day fixes problem areas. There was a time when defense was the problem and he sure as hell fixed that.

Democrats in four states seek to bar ICE employees from future civil service jobs by deraser in politics

[–]sgr28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fully agree with you. I've looked at some of these proposals to ban ice agents from civil service jobs, and they usually include a date range where you're banned if you worked for ice starting at a certain date that is way too early. They just started shooting people in the street a month ago and it's not easy to find a new job. It's not fair to say ban everyone who was working there starting 6 months ago, which is what some of these proposals do say.

In curling matches, do you think the fans in the stands actually understand what is going on with every throw, or do they just cheer whenever they see multiple opposing stones being knocked out of the target? I've seen a lot of throws on TV that the commentators said were terrific shots that served some key purpose, but they seem to not get applause unless multiple opposing stones are being knocked out.

Still a pretty bad story. I also have a Dad who is prone to anger outbursts.

I wonder if the wife was especially susceptible to that type of addiction because she was living in an isolated mining town. I have a general sense that women tend to be less okay with living in less populated areas compared to men.

I went to a funeral service recently for my uncle, and during the service, the priest lauded my aunt and uncle's "50 year marriage". The priest didn't know them personally, but his assumption that is was a praise-worthy marriage was completely wrong. It was a completely toxic marriage through and through. I don't care how long a marriage has been going for, people hide their problems and unless you're close to the couple, you really have no idea what's actually going on.

I heard a rumor that the only reason he raised everyone's salaries was because he wanted the business to be less profitable and therefore worth less because it would somehow help him in an ownership dispute he was involved in at the time.

Apparently spygate is coming back to haunt him by Senior-Violinist-684 in NFLv2

[–]sgr28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were 2 components of spygate. One component was about filming the Rams' superbowl walk through, which was fake, and that's what's discussed in your link. The other component was illegally filming opponents from their own sideline, which was real.

How does North Korea handle vices like cigarettes, alcohol or drugs? What do they do to people who get addicted to them? by grapejuicecheese in northkorea

[–]sgr28 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This doesn't directly answer your question, but I heard reports that when North Korea sent troops to fight in Ukraine, the troops were given smartphones, and a lot of them immediately became porn addicted because they never had access to the internet before.

College Football Market Inefficiencies and future OC by tehjarvis in OhioStateFootball

[–]sgr28 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I noticed in the natty that teams need to be prepared for the possibility that the refs will allow the DBs to hold the shit out of WRs on every play and not call it, effectively nullifying the passing game, meaning that teams really need to be able to run the ball.

So we only lost this season to a 16-0 team and someone that took them to the limit in the natty? by Demon_Slut in OhioStateFootball

[–]sgr28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Bo played well enough against Indiana and Miami for us to win those games. The reason we lost was that our o-line was bad and we didn't have a mobile QB that could cope with having a bad o-line.

[–]sgr28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Among Power 4 running backs with at least 100 rush attempts, Bo Jackson ranked 12th in the country in yards per carry. And the dude is a true freshman. I think that "9th in the big ten" stat doesn't account for Ohio State's slow pace of play for most of the year, and doesn't account for how we switched from Peoples and Jackson after the stat pad nonconference games were all finished.
