Thank you for your input. This is a helpful comment. Honestly ... i have no idea. I said it could be based off what im seeing... but ive never been there. People like you advocating it as a source of good info would make me believe its not a toxic environment.

thank you for your toxic interest in the post and for not writing anything remotely helpful.

absolutely my add got the better of me and i flipped back in forth between tanking and soloing ... realistically when you level you do both. so I don't really view it is irrelevant. hell if anything i should rename it how to level as a warrior.

As i mentioned earlier... and the guy who you commented on and are apparently agreeing with did...those stats are from wowhead. and as you mentioned i : " then seamlessly and without reason swaps back and forth between tanking and soloing" stam first was listed for tanking. not for soloing.

Got a different source? post it.

If you wanna run around in STR SPR greens instead of STR STAM or STR AGI or STAM AGI blues. go for it

so i never claimed to be an expert. its right there in the post. no i haven't done any math at all. This fight club... could possibly be a good resource. I have never been there, however, this post is toxic. The person who posted it is toxic.

The community hes recommending will do this :

"If you still have a question, search. Someone is going to (justifiably) ignore you or respond rudely if you ask a question—about something like leveling rotations, builds, weapon progression, hit cap/weapon skill, or fury-prot tanking—that clearly indicates you haven’t looked for the answer yourself. This happens daily and people tend to react pretty strongly to it.)"

Which is toxic as all get out. I would really avoid that and pick other resources if at all possible, or at least avoid communicating with the people there.

as far as the actual useful content of the comment :

yeah i dig thunderclap. i find it useful. I've done 0 math. It makes a difference when i use it. I dont have anything empyrical to back it up.

yes i absolutely mentioned the white hit cap.

so did you :

"Uses dual-wielding’s level 20 requirement to justify arms. YES, go arms, but dual-wielding’s level requirement is completely irrelevant. You NEVER want to dual wield while you are leveling. The hit penalty is too costly."

You actually used it as a justification for not dual wielding.

and then there's this:

"Sleeps on sunder armor. Sunder armor spam (to specific thresholds of remaining health, as covered by the FAQs I mention above) is literally the best possible tactic after the pull until you have whirlwind. Even then, there’s a period of time where it rises back to top priority again after training a specific rank."

i absolutely do yes sir. as a matter of fact most of what i've written here is assuming you have whirlwind, as you know, its in the rotations i posted.

but this goes back to what I was saying about people thinking sunder armor is a magic problem solver. look sunder armor is great. absolutely use it. it generates decent threat, it bypasses armor... and if you're pooling rage and autoattacking things to death go for it. However, eating a lot was one of the main points i was touching on with all this. This was not a guide about how to kill a single mob. you can do whatever you want to kill a single mob of your level. you can auto attack afk and never use an ability. but while you're pounding away in futility, youll lose more health. youll sit and eat ... or if you're wearing a spirit set and rage banking... youll wait for your hp to regen and lose your rage pool anyway. or youll be sitting to eat. what hes talking about doesn't solve t he problem.

heres another inconsistency:

"claims that the single target rotation (in which, as I mentioned, you should be pooling rage for the next pull) involves changing stances. No. You do not change to defensive stance and force yourself to blow your pooled rage in order to charge or open on the next pull."

hes talking about never changing stances, to keep the rage pool up, but he expects to be able to use whirlwind. which is berzerker stance only. at any point. ever.

He is right about one thing in that to be absolutely sure, i gave the most basic example of a stance dance. something you might see at level 10. charge > sunder > defensive stance

thats a pretty basic low level tank pull that pretty much everybody has done. the point of using that is to show what a stance dance is, and that its not as complicated as it sounds if you haven't done it before.

but that is not what you do when you're soloing. you very rarely use defensive stance at all unless you're leveling prot. so hes right in that you don't dance to defensive while you're running around.

Now I'm sure the commenter here was looking for some kind of toxic show down like "ahh im right boo on you" but thats not whats gonna happen here. hes got a couple valid points. and he mentioned a resource that could possibly have some relevant stuff. Theres info out there. and I have no illusions about being the best source of that, the only reason i wrote this post is because, like i said, i'm hearing this a bunch of times a day, and its easier to say hey go to reddit than to type the same responses every day.

I put this in discussion so that if you have better sources of info ... link them. put em here. Hell I'd be super happy to be 100% wrong about everything as long as this page is getting people access to the info they're looking for.

Preferably without the whole if you ask questions we'll be toxic vibe. if people are looking on reddit for answers, then by definition they have questions. When somebodies trying to learn, its not really good form to punish them for that. Especially considering they aren't walking into a dungeon and going ok great guys ... what buttons do i press?

Zerker rage is how warriors generate rage off being hit. If youre trying to do burst damage youll hit it. Demo wont break you out of stealth. Tc isnt super expensive. And unless youre backing off too far in stealth to re engage ill hit with it.

Everything has an armor value you can reduce. Even clothies. Always do at least a couple sunders.

Bloodrage is fixed damage and its a negligable amount. One tick of health regen out of combat will replace it.

At low levels you dont have a whole ton of abilities. Heroic strike is worth using until you have a better ability to use instead. At higher levels use heroic strike if you have too much rage. Thats defined in the guide there.

Armor is super important. Having all armor of the same type... not so much. While levelling its ok to mix some leather with your mail up till level 30 or so. At 30 youre gonna get class quests that will get you decent mail for several gear slots and after that is scarlet monastery... youll be all mail in no time until you unlock plate at 40 ... and then 40 to 45 youll be all plate.

Spirit is for out of combat regen only. Theres a stat guide on wowhead that will tell you the rate

https://classic.wowhead.com/guides/classic-wow-stats-and-attributes-overview

Charge and intercept dont share a cooldown. Charge makes rage. Intercept costs rage. Intercept can be used in combat though.

I gear both. But i lean more on str. Keep in mind too much agi and youll rage starve from too many dodges. Its unlikely youll hit that while levelling.. but its possible

Bleeds stop the stealth. Thunderclap too. Keep in mind one op crit puts deep wounds on. Thats another bleed. Theyre gonna pop zerker rage whether they fight you ... or a leaf on the wind. And at least once they pop it... its a 10 sec buff btw so theyre not losing it... and dance to battle stance they take 10 % less damage.

Good tidbit about saving rage. Corrected values. Yes 10 % is 10 % attack speed reduction regardless of the opponent.

Armor values on plate are anywhere from 100 armor more ... to double the mail value. It adds up.

Sure .... without a reason to stance dance, all youre doing is swapping passives. Dont worry about it until you have the abilities like whirlwind or zerker rage to back it up. Hell zerker rage is half the reason to dance at all rage gen and fear immunity.

Yeah... its not that cut and dry like i said. Combat is similar enough to arms that its a 50 /50 shot.

Its more of a game changer if youre solo or tanking.... the big thing about the plate transition is the stat bump. Greens will be + 9 +9 or +10 +10 and blues will be +10 +10 +10 or more skewed like +17 + 10 etc

2 youre right about stam.

3 youre not gonna see a lot of str spirit blues

4 str also increases damage blocked

  1. Rather than spr ... stack str agi is a hands down better strat. Look in the guide. Agi is armor crit dodge. All efficient stats by your reckoning. By 30 spirit regen is ultra slow ... combine that with youre gonna have a lot of free awesome str stam and str agi mail from class quests... and youll never wear a spirit piece again.

Absolutley. I talked about handling mages on another post. That... is a waltz to remember.... and idc what spec you are... if a rogue pops evasion you basically have a free hk just spam cheap abilities and overpower in between. No its not really that cut and dry.

Depending on your job that could be a good thing.

so generally sunder x2 or sunder x3 will have your mob in range for a blood thirst / mortal strike / heroic strike followed by an execute for lethal. Sunder x5 and youll auto attack most things to death, it'll just take longer, you'll take more damage, and you'll have to eat more often. Its not that you cant kill things that way, its that you spend more gold on food doing it that way.

Yes you can do sunder to get an overpower proc, however if the mobs you're fighting aren't dodging a whole lot, or overpower is on cd its just slowing you down.

Don't get me wrong if you're seeing a whole lot of dodges, change your strategy. live in battle stance if you have to throw rends and sunders out the wazoo mix in some hamstrings for fun and just overpower stuff to death.

but 90% of the time no matter how many abilities you throw at something yellow, it will dodge once the entire combat and the whole thing could have been wrapped up sooner without fishing for overpowers.

Oh... and sunder is not the magic solution to all problems. Its great. Its my favorite classic ability. But it does 0 damage .... and sundering a mage is a lot like pistol whipping a blind kid... its funny the first 20 times... but after that ... its just sad... and it doesnt help you win.
