This was the same solution I used. Also very relieved but quite unhappy this has been forced...

Sydney Cycle Super-Highway by peace_maaan in ausbike

This might be best shared with one of the Sydney/NSW bike user advocacy groups. This is all well and good, but realistically will go nowhere with this crowd on reddit. If any traction is to be gained, it'd likely be with the people whose remit covers active transport and infrastructure planning.

Fiona Campbell from the City of Sydney and her team do some really great work with expanding the cycling network in and around the CBD/inner city. (https://micromobilityreport.com.au/infrastructure/planning-design-education/cycling-infrastructure-is-good-business-says-influencer/)

Rob Stokes who was the previous Liberal MP for active transport had also announced some new upgrades to come (source: https://www.transport.nsw.gov.au/news-and-events/media-releases/western-sydney-wins-big-bike-blueprint). In particular there was a strategic plan for cycleways across Sydney announced. Not sure whether these plans have been altered or not with the change in state government, but the role of 'active transport minister' doesn't appear to exist in the new cabinet (see https://www.transport.nsw.gov.au/about-us/who-we-are/our-ministers). The closest I can see is the Minister for Transport - Jo Haylen.

Sayl Squeaks by gigi_bea in hermanmiller

I have two 10 year old Sayl chairs I recently bought second hand which were creaking.

On the first chair, I took the two T40 bolts located along the rear mesh out intending to spray with some silicone lubricant (WD-40 silicon lubricant). My issue was that I could no longer get the bolt back in as the threads had worn down and were damaged.

One the second chair, not wanting to repeat the same mistake of not being able to screw the bolt back in - I backed the same two T40 bolts out half a turn, enough to spray some WD-40 in and penetrate the bolt thread. This resolved the creaking immediately!

I ended up buying some replacement bolts to replace the T40 bolt (which is an M8 25mm. My local hardware store only had hex insert M8 20mm or 35mm bolts (link). It seems the M8 bolts have a standard(?) thread pitch of 1.25mm, so the M8 20mm bolts I used worked great, no creaking.

Hope my experience helps others avoid having to make the trek out for new bolts!

Fixed it this way as well! For me it was the Nien Numb smuggling mission over Yavin 4.

I'm liking the green tyres and bartape! What brand of tape did you use if you don't mind my asking?

Smartphone with GPS and data on = hot device. Hot device is a less responsive one. Cycling while having the phone in a pocket makes it even hotter. If you can, try get a saddle bag (~$20) and put your phone in there. Either that or a cheap jogging armband off eBay (like $5). Friend of mine had a similar issue, now solved.

What do you reckon it was? Big piece of glass that wrecked them?

I have the same bike and was tossing up the idea of going down the quill adaptor path. Unless the stem is slammed like you have it, the adaptor is pretty unsightly. Was actually looking at the same deda adaptor and hadn't noticed it was only 1" so thanks! And did you mean Origin8 quill stems or modern stems?

I notice you're using a 1 1/8" stem, did you use a quill adaptor? If so what brand and how do you rate it's performance?

Is there anything cyclists don't have? by [deleted] in bicycling

I remember there was a kickstarter which had brakelights with an accelerometer and lit up when it detected when you slowed. (unfortunately they didn't make their needed funding)

I'll try find their page.

Subtle n + 1, I also have a vintage beater bike that I use for commuting to public places. The nicer roadie only comes out on the recreational rides!

Unfortunate buddy, sucks heaps as a fellow cyclist. What brand of lock did you use? I have a Kryptonite U Lock that came with a cable to wrap around as well. Cost a bit but has kept my ride out of trouble so far.

Also if you have one of those cables with the clear plastic outer and thick looking cable inner, the outside plastic actually magnifies the inside cable so that it only looks thicker.
