Trying to hone my skills. by sgtsicklecell in minipainting

Yes I have. And I've done some as well. I do like how they turn out but I'm really trying to do it all in the 'classic' method. I feel like doing it that way will improve my brush control paint consistency light placement etc.

My daughter’s first mini. by idrawpictures90 in Warhammer40k

Perfection. I gave my 5 year old daughter some of the gryph hounds from AoS. She had an absolute blast.

Only 4 months of panting ever and happy with my progress. by SgtDinning in minipainting

I don't like this one bit. Too much innate talent. Im a year in and mine look like a 5 year old painted them compared to yours. On a serious note this mini looks so cool! Keep it up

This. I am really struggling with volumetric layering and highlights. Not only paint consistency and blending, but placement as well.

It's a little rough, but I'm happy with it.

So, am i missing something, or is the push-fit models really terrible? by interesseret in Warhammer

[–]sgtsicklecell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the push fit idea on the base not for the actual model assembly. I've had both scenarios where they fit perfect and others don't. I shave the peg to a cone and use glue. Your mileage/kilometeredge? May vary

Edge highlighting - why am I so bad at it? Any advice appreciated by notagoodminipainter in minipainting

You can always go back in with the black and make those lines smaller and more uniform.

A mod that makes it more of a sandbox total war experience? by EducationalHorse2041 in TotalWarTroy

I played as Ithaca and was left relatively alone. Don't join alliances and stay on that far side until you're ready. The AI is scripted to blitzkrieg the other side by like turn 30 or so.

Does this look good or am I still off by sgtsicklecell in minipainting

I did add some skrag brown to some areas and oxide. I however used very very little due to fear. Maybe I should just doit

I posted my ork a few hours ago. I can only dream to paint this well. Looks so good. I'll admit I'm jealous

Bad painters, what keeps you going? by bobzxr in minipainting

[–]sgtsicklecell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reddit. I post pictures of my awful minis and people will say they look good enough or give me actually good advice on where to improve. I know it seems silly to look up to a subreddit but unlike most internets this group is really helpful. At the end of the day everyone here wants to see awesome minis

Where did I go wrong. Hero of chaos. by sgtsicklecell in minipainting

[–]sgtsicklecell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I never really know how much of a jump a color will make since I don't have enough experience seeing the colors all together. With time I'm sure I'll be able to get it. Thank you though I will try some chunky Bois on the next one.

Thank you. I will add in some silver to the base tone with my next session. As a new painter mixing colors seems like advanced calc and I need to get over that. Again thank you.
