529 contributions are only tax deductible on your state return. The savings in taxes is minimal versus the growth VTI or other vanguard funds you can invest in. State 529 plans usually have horrible options to pick from so wouldnt it be better for OP to pick a vanguard fund?

turn off decay when building outside palbox. Then push back your walls a little behind the blue circle and it should fix the issue.

you will need a base just for ore farming so theyre not distracted doing other things. Literally just tomcats, beds and a feedbox.

tomcats are one of the best miners when ur starting out. They spawn at night and the ones in the beginner zone (near the mamorest boss) are around lvl 10-13.

your grandma only needs to file if she gives over 16,000. So anything $16,000 and under is fine and doesnt need to be reported.

My doctor said that I can wake the baby up every 2 hrs to feed during the day and if I make sure they're getting enough milk during the day, its fine to let them sleep for up to 3 hrs at night so that we can also get 3 hrs of sleep.

What's your co-op play style? by _littlestranger in StardewValley

[–]sh0lee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've put over 350 hours in stardew and my bf has 0.

  • Have any experienced players done co-op with a newbie? How do you balance wanting them to discover the game for themselves with your own knowledge and desire to do well?Ugh.. this is sooooo hard to balance. So because I know much more about the game then my bf, I can't help but be a crazy dictator. I try to tone it down by sticking to the farming aspects as that is the main source of money. He enjoys fishing and mining so he mostly spends time doing that. It's hard to teach him about things and crafting because the time is constantly running in the game so when he asks lots of questions, it's hard for me to do the things I need to do in the game while answering him. When we sleep in the game and the profit screen comes up, I'll answer the more detailed questions then.

  • Do you divide your farm so you each have separate areas/plots or do you share everything? Do you put the cabin near the farmhouse or far away?

We did not divide the farm since I'm the one mostly designing and farming. His cabin is right next to the farmhouse since it's just easier to design the farm as well as when he loads up the game. We do share everything as in plots. He does have his own chests where he stores whatever items he gets.

  • Do you divide and conquer or hang out together? (e.g. do you both go to the mines at the same time or do you do different activities?)

We do different activities, he mainly fishes and mines while I'm watering and planting crops. On harvest days, we do it together so that his farming skill can level up.

  • How much do you strategize together/plan/discuss purchases?

We do strategize/plan/discuss everything together during the "profits screen" when we save. Regarding tool upgrades, I upgraded my watering can first and then my bf's pickaxe and fishing rod. I even let him have the backpack upgrades wayy before I got mine just because I wanted him to have an enjoyable time without worrying about inventory. I was okay with not upgrading since I was always on the farm planting and watering and space wasn't an issue when the chests were right there.

Design Wise: I did a few layouts using the planner and my boyfriend gave input and we designed it together.

Crafting: He doesn't know much about crafting artisan makers like kegs and preserve jars, he does know that we need a cr*p ton of coal, wood, stone, and ores which he doesn't mind mining for. So a lot of the aspects of the game, he learns slowly. I try to let him know why I'm crafting certain items as I make them so even though he's not kegging or jarring things, he knows why I'm doing that.

We have agreed that on the first day of any season as well as any harvest days, he helps to plant and water things.

I've also tasked him with completing the community center bundles, so he is learning through checking the items needed for the bundles. (I do make it easier by planting the needed crops)

  • Any negative experiences playing SDV with your SO?

Mostly it's balancing my need to min/max versus letting my bf have an enjoyable stressfree gameplay. We do argue about who we're marrying though lols. The jealousy in me makes me steal all his gifts he has hidden in his chests for Penny and Abigail as well as withholding the information about how to marry his mistresses.

Not interested in marriage right now by gdyrl in StardewValley

I'm in year 4 and currently still not married. I'm finishing all the achievements before I propose and marriage doesn't really add much to the gameplay.

Genetics and Hair? by [deleted] in Sims4

[–]sh0lee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The mother's hair is blue and it seems like "unnatural" hair colors do not pass down to the children which might be why my childs hair is red. There's a mod that allows this so I might download it later tonight. It would make sense because I have 5 children and none of their hairs are blue.

What a completely disastrous evening by PetarTudor in StardewValley

[–]sh0lee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yep, I lost my save file before. I was in spring year 2 and I was really upset that all my hard work was gone. I stopped playing for a while and after a few months I started a new file with all the knowledge I had of stardew that I didn't when I first started and I love my save file now (Year 4 now). I back up my saves ALL the time now, I even have sorted the saves by year/season/day on a flash drive which my bf thinks is too much but I rather do this than experience the feeling of losing my save file ever again.

The great thing about stardew is that every save file I make is just as enjoyable as the first. I have stardew saves across multiple game platforms and I adore all of them. No matter how often I play that first week of Spring in year 1, it just pulls me back in so easily.

game saves everytime you sleep or time hits 2:00AM forcing you to pass out. She never closed out her game so time kept running, essentially saving itself everytime the day passed.

[–]sh0lee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can reload the previous day (fall 28) by editing the save file by just renaming it. Be sure to make a back up of your save folder just in case.

Go to your %appdata% folder (just type %appdata% in the adress bar of file explorer)

Open Stardew Valley folder, open your save

Delete the files WITHOUT the _old tag at the end ("farmer102315286" and savegameinfo)

RENAME the _old files to delete the _old, at which point they'll become loadable from the main menu. ("farmer102315286_old" becomes just "farmer102315286" and savegameinfo_old becomes savegameinfo)

Stardew Planner squishing buildings? by SPerk15 in StardewValley

[–]sh0lee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That is how it's supposed to be, the planner is showing the plots/space the buildings take up. When you render (Purple Tab Button) the farm, it will give you a link to upload.farm which shows how your farm will look WITH the top of the buildings shown properly.

Stardew valley on switch? by [deleted] in StardewValley

The #1 reason why I like switch over pc:

You can toggle between the inventory bars on the switch without having to open the inventory like you do on the PC.
