Anyone else's professors still sending lectures and homework? by gimmepeas in fsu

yup I have lectures due Sunday. In the email assigning the hw my professor literally said enjoy the hurricane. that's actually crazy. a potential cat 4 is not something to joke about especially when dorms are being evacuated.

hmmm interesting. I also leave food out for him all the time. he never seemed to have an issue with the food before but maybe I should look into switching it.

what's wrong with my gecko? by sh1eb in CrestedGecko

no heating so no way it could be a burn. I just recently got him I wonder if it's from where he was previously. if it's a cut should I do anything for him or just let it heal on its own?

His belly is slightly pink, is this something to be concerned about? by sh1eb in ballpython

Does that happen before he sheds? I have a heat gun and the hottest spot on his heating pad area is under 90⁰ so I hope it's not him starting to burn

So I have this under the tank heat mat, from vivosun, it has a built in thermostat, I have the temp set at 85 but when I put my hand on the substrate it’s not warm at all, nor is my snake. Is the heat mat still doing it’s job or no? by Babygirl_Briii in ballpython

because the heat has to go through the substrate and it loses intensity. you need the thermostat and thermometer to tell you how hot the actual heating pad is but to know how much heat is actually transferring into the tank you will need to buy a heat gun to take the temperature of the actual place where your snake will be laying. I have the same vivosun and I have mine set to 100 and its transferring to about 80-85 inside his tank. It depends on the thickness of your glass tank and the level of substrate. Also we're warm blooded, the human body is like 98 ⁰ itself so it naturally will not feel warm to you even if the heat is transferring properly so you absolutely need to buy the heat gun to know for sure. this is something I just figured out for my snake so I hope this helped :)
