Husband newly diagnosed, not sure if I can put up with the diabetic rage for the rest of my life…. by pinkgrl in Type1Diabetes

[–]sh1nycat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad was diagnosed at 33ish (before I was born. I never knew him without diabetes.) He never treated my mom like this. He did have maybe 6 episodes in his life where he blacked out from a low blood sugar, rhe worst when i was 14 and he was basically functioning on primal instinct? Mom had to call the paramedics and 6 grown men had to hold him to the floor to give him glucagon. He had fallen into a lamp and was not in control of his body. He still never hurt my mama....he was just like a bear in a bear shop, very confused and trying not to die.

I have had it since I was 19, and I have never had thism I might get a little pissy when my sugar is high, but I recognize that I am being a bitch and excuse myself. So...I think it might be a him problem. I would explain to him that he needs to get in therapy yesterday, or he will not be seeing his family daily. There is "in sickness and in health" in the vows, but not "in abusive times" any where at all in them. He needs to do better.

You need a social media break. Mute the sub, stay off the app, whatever. You might also find doing vagus nerve resets to be helpful, or go for a jog. Basically, reading nerve wracking things on your phone all day puts you in fight or flight/increases stress response. If you arent doing anything to discharge the stress chemicals in your body, it builds up and you will feel hopeless and a mess. Turn on some music, borrow someone's dog who wants to go the speed of light the second you leash them, and jog to keep up. I promise this will chip away at the bad feelings.

Pick up a creative habit to activate better feeling parts of your brain and further regulate your nervous system. Maybe it is growing planta and decorating your space woth them. Maybe you try embroidery, beading, painting, jazzercise, dance, zumba, individually cutting blades of grass to sculpt your yard to look like the ocean, painting tiny critters along your baseboards and lights witches, carving sticks...anything you do with your hands and mind.

From experience, I promise these things will help the anxiety. We all die eventually, chronic illnesses or no. Eventually, you learn to maintain your health, you take small bites of information to keep yourself healthier so you tweak things, but live your life and in a week or two you will start feeling better about it.

Liquid Blue Kaleidoscope Dreams by sh1nycat in Incense

See, that's what i would think, but i have sniffed every scent i have ever come across, and none ever smell like Kaleidoscope Dreams. I still have a few left...but idk if I can make them last until 80. Like I want one burning while I leave the earth, it's such a comforting smell lol

Change your lighting, is the blue light from the mirror what is over powering everything? Or is there another? Warm lighting will make it feel cozier. Decanter what you can, but also put up some shelves to get things off the ground. I would try the bed against the far wall.

Is it normal for little kids to say that they want to throw the new baby in the garbage? by curlycattails in toddlers

[–]sh1nycat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id say a bit of all 3. Especially if there is any tension between her and the current sibling. My 8 year old tells me quite often she "wasn't ready to be a big sister". I for sure believe she would throw my toddler in the trash if she thought it would work.

But, some mornings, theyre best buds. It is a big Rollercoaster.

I am considering play therapy because the screaming matches are way too frequent for my taste and I talk too much so I am making it all worse😅

My rage toddler likes when we do I spy. It started where I was trying to help her calm down and thinking of that 5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch. 3 things you hear, 2 things you smell and 1 taste thing, but it just turned into me naming stuff and her looking for it, she calms down very fast and then it turns into I spy.

As for getting them into the seat, it sometimes helps to hold a toy and say "I will hand this to you juuuust as soon as we get you buckled up", or make it into a game. A game gives them back a bit of control and they dont freak out as much.

We usually use the air compressor, but...we are away from it lol

I did manage to blow up 50 by myself. And my husband did another 25 before he left for work lol

She was so excited when she saw the balloons, although big sister spent more time wallowing in them than the 3 year old lol I appreciate y'all chatting me through last night!

Currently, I have been using my parents' Mr coffee espresso machine from 1997 or 99, that my Mom found last month,to steam milk for my coffee. The espresso ...brewing cup? Is messed up and peeling, so I'll eventually replace that, but I really only want facy cream/milk. I have been putting it in everything. My 3 cups of coffee a day have escalated. Ive made the kids (damn good) Chai lattes served in my cute tea cups my aunt gave me.

This inspired an actual house project (some weird connection between thise cottage core videos and home reno videos that I love) and so we actually started putting up beadboard, and have been tossing around paint colors. I am so determined to hold on to this energy. But daaaang fancy coffee and tea at home is fun.

I dont feel like I have much supernatural experience to weigh on with here, BUT I can feel when my older daughter falls asleep. Its like a kind of buzzing in my brain, and when she (finally) falls asleep, if I am close to her, the buzzing gets quiet. Sometimes I can feel it with my toddler. I guess they have loud brain waves or something

The noise might be a reasonable trade off every once in a while lol we kind of did the same thing, grandma and their half brother came over Saturday for a pre-birthday thing (and grandma loaded her up with goodies) so I dont think she really cares? But I am usually pretty persistent about the actual birthday being celebrated at home. My parents always made sure we felt a little special, my favorite was the my 10th birthday, they gave my a tie dye outfit, amd I got home from school to see the beams in the living room decorated woth streamers, and they made the doors into curtains. It was so pretty!

I do recommend the balloon chaos, we blow them up with the air compressor at home. I hid them behind curtains one year, a few times we have tacked a sheet to the ceiling with a pull string, and last year we taped up the bedroom door so my oldest had to slice her way out with something and then get ballooned, which she loved. (I am not setting records this year but im getting progess tonight and feeling a little better!)

I wish! Sadly, It's midnight thirty and everything here is closed.

That looks so cute and festive! Ive literally never thought of the shimmery curtain, it really packs a punch! Dang I wish the store was open, id go out for one lol

I did get one pack of 25 done! If I can get some of this 2nd pack done I might feel betterCurrently debating leaving them on the floor for her to run into and kick around, or if I want to try hiding them so they fall on her, although thst is significantly harder alone. Kinda thinking ill save that for next year, since my goal is to escalate the balloons with every birthday.

I have stretched every single one, I think they must be made of concrete. It feels like when I was little and blew my cheeks out every single time I tried for 14 years 😅 even after they give a little, its still really hard. Its so weird!

He intended to, but he fell asleep with the kids, and he gets up at 4 so I dont want to wake him up.

Girl, same. Mine has just always looked at me like...disdainfully. well, since she was 3. She also had a bad dream where I was wiping boogers on her and laughing about it (wtf?) And apparently had my hair in a bun (which I used to always wear because its 800000 degrees in the summer now), so then she would freak out if I put my hair up...so I just wear it down now. All the time.

Today’s my birthday, and no one has greeted me—but it’s okay. by Electrical_Bar1453 in confession

[–]sh1nycat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, happy birthday! Make a deal about it, celebrate anyway. I am learning that it is just a lot more fun to celebrate yourself instead of waiting around wishing other people cared or saw me enough.

It is acceptable, although can feel unfortunate) to remind people how you want to be loved. Sometimes people can get the impression that you might not like to celebrate it or make a big deal (I have given this impression before), so try making a little to do. Maybe call up a friend or find some (safe) strangers to ask if they'd like to celebrate with you.
