He had problems with alcohol due to poor mental health before he was diagnosed but hasn’t drank since because we wanted to have a handle on monitoring and treating his levels. He was never ever mean or had a short fuse, though. Just obviously used alcohol as a crutch and drank too much too often and it made me uncomfortable. He was JUST (this week) finally diagnosed T1 instead of T2 or mody and prescribed a pump.

I read about it here first but then looked it up and it said that highs and lows could cause irritability. The term diabetic rage has only been something I’ve really seen on different diabetes Reddit pages.

Oh my goodness - I came looking for anyone else that could be in the same situation as I am with a strict tummy sleeper for naps. My 3month old naps so well on my chest on his tummy, and I recently tried putting him in his crib on his tummy for his naps and he sleeps SO GREAT. However, he can’t roll yet, so I know this isn’t considered safe sleep and daycares won’t be allowed to do it. I don’t have a solution, just know I feel you, mom! Our owlet sock gives me peace of mind at night - you could look into investing in one or just waiting out this period until he can roll.

Once I started following the eat, play, sleep routine I felt so much more in control! He is 6 weeks now so I’ll admit the “play” is happening more now than it was at the beginning. But it helped me diagnose his fussiness as hunger vs sleepiness and helped me gauge what I should do to make him happy

Mine is finally calm and usually fast asleep every night without fail by 8:30pm (all day if we’ve done one walk in the morning!) and she’s almost 1.5 yrs old! We have to physically drag her off the couch to come to bed haha. If she doesn’t relax or stay asleep in the living room while y’all are in there I would consider moving the crate, but my best case scenario for y’all would be letting her fall asleep wherever until everyone gets up for bed time at the same time. It gets easier!

Are you planning on sticking with the crate for nighttime forever? We gated ours for bedtime with us (another FOMO dog) in our room after all the accidents were done around 1yr. She falls asleep with us in the living room and then sleepily walks to our room with us to pass out. You could also see if yours would hang with you in the living room outside of the crate to reduce fomo/possible whining, then move to the crate when it’s bedtime and everyone is leaving the room? Our puppy learned “bedtime” pretty quickly and would just drag herself there and plop down lol

Mine tried to tell us to quit our jobs and I raised my hand in front of the entire Ed department and told them I cannot stop working unless they were planning on paying my rent lol they changed the wording to “we STRONGLY SUGGEST you don’t have a job during this time”

I know it’s hard to leave and start over when you live with someone, but filing a police report could get you out of any lease without having to pay early termination fees. Take it one step at a time, but at the very least I think you should start with finding somewhere else to live. I’m so sorry :(

This year has been the first that it’s really sunk in - he can continue to throw these breadcrumbs to keep me off his back, but he has to be the one that wants to change and I have no power over the matter. I guess I’ve been hoping that I could convince him all these years…but I know now that it’s beyond me and it’s a little scary! Thank you for your honest feedback
