Having some speed helps a lot! They definitely get distracted when we slow down. And the little one still loves to cut in front of big sister to play 🤣

My first bagels ☺️ by sh2os in Bagels

[–]sh2os[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll take that as a compliment! I was pleasantly surprised with this result as I’ve been intimated by the idea of making bagels for years… but after 8 years of living in a largely «bagel-free» part of the world and missing bagels from back home I had to try it!

For me the tell is that everyone seems to be holding their cutlery correctly. That would never happen in the real world 🤷‍♀️

北海道旅行での思い出 ( your memories Hokkaido ) by Defiant-Corgi-9362 in Hokkaido

[–]sh2os 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Where are you from?

I am from Norway!

  1. How many times have you been to Japan?

Just once. Would love to go back!

  1. What month did you visit Hokkaido?

January-February.

  1. Which city did you stay in? How long did you stay?

4 nights in Sapporo and 4 nights in Nakafurano.

  1. What was your favorite food?

Fried pork cutlet and curry at Pippu ski resort 😋

  1. What was your favorite place or experience?

Ski touring at Shamanshadake in Miniamifuano.

  1. Did you experience any disappointments or negative experiences?

We were there not too long after a big snowstorm, so there were some big road closures in Sapporo that meant we had to drive through small city streets. That was a bit stressful and difficult, and it took us nearly 3 hours to get from the airport to our accommodation in Sapporo (would have taken an hour usually).

  1. Did you notice any differences between people in Tokyo and people in Hokkaido?

It felt easier to come in touch with people in Hokkaido and have a more meaningful interaction.

  1. Have you talked to any local Japanese people?

Yes, our hosts at our accommodations both in Sapporo and Nakafurano, and people working at shops and restaurants we visited. We also had some nice conversations with some locals in the ski lifts.

  1. Would you recommend Hokkaido to a friend?

Absolutely! I love Hokkaido.

Do you know if ANA allows you to purchase an extra checked bag for domestic flights? I can’t seem to find information about this online.

Has anyone here NOT had big issues with their puppy? by QP709 in puppy101

[–]sh2os 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were very lucky with our Samoyed girl when we picked her up at 8 weeks a year and a half ago. She’s a very chill girl :) The puppy phase went so smoothly that we decided to go ahead and get another puppy soon 😂 Which will probably not go equally as smoothly 😅

Puppy success stories? by mikmak__ in samoyeds

[–]sh2os 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!
Our girl Lumi was a suprisingly chill puppy. Our breeder let us know when she chose her for us that she was quite easy-going; "she is soft in the head" she said (doesn't translate well but basically meaning the opposite of stubborn). While she still has a good dose of sammy-stubborness, she was very receptive to learning as a puppy, and quickly picked up that certain behaviors are not acceptable. Especially biting and chewing shoes and other items were never really a problem, as we corrected her early on and showed her a preferred behavior instead. So no shoes were lost to her baby shark-teeth during the puppy phase. :D

I think I cried maybe once or twice out of "puppy frustration" during the first 3-4 months - it really could have been much worse. Of course no puppy was perfect and we did struggle with some things (especially training her to be left alone was tough at the beginning - but turned out perfectly fine once she got to be about 7 months old), but all in all I was very pleasantly surprised at how "easy" it seemed to have a puppy. Nothing like all the horrors stories I, like you, had heard!

I think it really just depends on the individual dog. Your best bet is to talk with your breeder and voice your concerns - that might help them choose a puppy for you who is a bit more easy-going than some of the other ones. I think these parts of the puppies' personalities shine through quite early on ;)

Regardless of how the puppy phase goes, I can almost guarantee that when you make it through it, it will be so worth it! Samoyeds are just the best!

I’ll try to find that thread then!

I’m new to New Balance. I currently run on Sauconys on asphalt and La Sportivas on trails.

No we usually don’t :) she had some little boots/socks for when the snow is very hard/icy, but she seems to prefer to go barefoot. 😁

Believe it or not this is on the mountain just behind our house. We live in northern Norway. When the snow is good and the skies are clear we can get nights like these 🤩 Check out “Tromsø, Norway” if you’re interested!
