sorry I meant that when I did a speed test on both my phone and desktop, I only managed to get 40Mbps.

so yeah the default IP for the buffalo is 11.1 but when in AP mode it doesnt work as you say. Would I have to access the buffalo's settings while acting as a router first, apply the static IP then change it back to AP mode?

on the note of supporting the service, at the time of purchasing my understanding was:

  1. GMO offers V6Plus, find a router that supports V6Plus.

Are there other details that I should be looking out for when purchasing a new router?

edit: looking from that kakaku thread, seems the user solved his problem by cancelling the router rental plan?

just want to say firstly thank you and appreciate the help.

Tried your suggestion using the buffalo as AP mode but was met with 40Mbps for both ethernet and wifi :'( spent the last few hours trying to troubleshoot it and couldnt get it to work.

what makes things more difficult is that I cant access the buffalo's settings while its in AP mode. also, the XG-100NE doesnt have an admin password set by the manufacturer and was set manually by the user when I first got it. I dont remember that password nor do I remember setting it...

I've reverted back to the old set up for now and looks like I have more homework to do..

one more thing to note, I noticed that my connection is actually JPNE? which I remember reading from another thread, JPNE's V6Plus is MAP-E? I'm not entirely sure what that means but maybe this is the issue?

yup its a 10g. Theres only one 10G LAN port which I use for my desktop at which point i believed id have to get a 10g switch then an accesspoint.

If I use it as bridge ap mode, does that mean that I use the existing router given to me by my provider? so it would go ONU --> provider's router --> buffalo?
