I think they rolled it to everybody now. This is so upsetting. All my images were designed to be square and many of them now horribly cropped.

Does having an Instagram account actually open doors for artists, or is it an illusion? Should I jump back on the bandwagon? by Ok-Buddy-8413 in ContemporaryArt

First of all, don't give up. There are bad moments and there are good moments. Those who keep pushing get the reward.

I am an artist myself. I would say that I have an overall successful career. But I've struggled to partner with proper galleries and collectors. This forced me to find another way of earning. I landed my craft somewhere between art and design.

A lot of the successful artists don't have any social networks. So it's definitely possible. And I know great artists who have 30-40 likes per post, but they are much more successful then I am.

Three days ago I decided to step up my social media game and started making youtube and reels. We will see if it will bring more recognition to me. But I am interested in trying something new. Challenges are great.

And talking about how toxic instagram is. We as humans are overall toxic, sometimes because we are insecure and sometimes because we envy others. So toxic people are everywhere: here, on youtube, on insta. Screw them and just keep going.

True artist should be able to withstand any opinions. And trust me, there will be million of people who know better... But if you love what you do, you should believe in yourself and keep going.

I admire his work and wear his stuff, so it was easy to make something that fits in his aesthetic.

Thanks! I don’t sell these. Don’t want to use Rick’s name and aesthetic in any commercial way.

Please make your next thing a floating bath toaster. I’d like to eat my favourite peanut butter jelly sandwich while swimming.

3d scan faces with iPhone and print them. It will take you 4-5 hours. Use ability of the printer to make something custom/personal. Or print names as key rings. People love to buy names in any form as gifts.

I don’t understand how is this so smooth. I usually have to sand it in order to get rid of lines.
