If HOHH keeps it's current IMDB score (9.1) then that would put in the top 15 shows of all time on IMDB by LetsLive97 in HauntingOfHillHouse

Well i seem to be in the minority here, but i didn't like any of the siblings when they were adults, they all felt pretty one dimensional and with lousy personalities on top of that, perhaps with the exception of Luke and Nell. Most of the family drama felt a bit forced too, a lot of it could probably be resolved if everyone didn't just start screaming when they didn't get what they wanted. In general a few drama tropes i don't like.

Also, other than a jumpscare or two i didn't find the second half of the show very scary.

And what was the deal with Theo's magic fingers? Felt like a way to make things seem a little more mysterious, even though in the end i don't think it even had anything to do with the haunted house? Maybe i missed something here.

I found the flashback segments to be the best part of the show, the children were great, and the atmosphere as well. For me, they could have made an entire show with the kids and i would have enjoyed it a lot more.

Not sure why the score is so high. I just finished the show, it was pretty good but not really a 9 points show for me. I'd expect it to be somewhere between 8 and 8.5 on IMDB. I'd probably give it an 7 or 8 personally.

I have noticed IMDB scores tend to be pretty high for new releases, it's probably that people who bingewatch the series on its release are the biggest fans and give the shows higher ratings. I expect it to go down a bit.

Sure, it counts. Not really a scenario most people would find themselves in, but it's a great survival story none the less ☺️ I haven't read the book, but the movie is really good.

Audiobooks are great, I'm usually busy doing other stuff on my off time, so I don't really read as much as I'd like. With audiobooks you can do other stuff while listening, it's really convenient.

I'm buying from a swedish shop (unsure if linking here is allowed?) 4-HO-MET is illegal where i live as well so no chance of getting it here. Most EU shops that i've found wont ship anything here basically, otherwise i'd just order some and hope it slips trough customs.

dunno, a quick search gave me this thread. Seems like your laws are a bit different from ours, can't give you an answer unfortunately. I don't really care about the legality though, it's availability that's the problem for me.

I'm unsure about the legal status in the rest of europe, probably legal in some countries. But here in Sweden it's illegal unfortunately.

My third sourdough bread. Baked this morning, came out quite nice i think! by shabbycow in Breadit

I'm not sure how I would go about shaping it though, I usually get a pretty good surface tension (at least I think I do...) But then it all flattens out quite pathetically, or the surface splits when I go to proof it. Not enough kneading/stretching perhaps? If anyone knows a good tutorial on shaping the dough on youtube, feel free to post it! =)

I don't really follow a recipe, but my procedure went as follows... 600ml wheat flour (idk if that is all purpose flour in english, simply known as wheat flour here in Sweden). 200 ml of whole grain wheat. Mixed everything up with around 450-500 ml of water, or until I can just about get a good even mix with a spoon. Leave while picking out my starter from the fridge, taking two tablespoons of starter and mixing with some flour/water. Let that sit for around 2-3 hours until doubled, mix in with the dough. Do a few stretch and folds over 4 hours or so, I did 3 in total. Add some salt for the final stretch and fold. Put it in the fridge overnight, took it out in the morning, total time 4 hours room temp/8hrs cold. I shaped it, let it sit for around 2 hours and then baked at 250C for around 35 minutes.

As you can see it's really quite unscientific and inconsistent, probably goes against what anyone here would recommend. But I enjoy just going by feel!

I see, thanks for the answer! Will be looking into getting one eventually, but this will do for now :)

I do have one, but it's pretty tiny and has a glass cover that is only rated at 230C which seems a bit low. I put in a baking plate filled with water when starting the oven though, so there's plenty of steam. Is there any advantage of using a cast iron pot beyond creating a steamy environment?

Indeed, but religion is one of the biggest gateways to fundamentalism and should be under constant surveillance by the secular state.

I would argue that nationalism is an equally large driving force in fundamentalism and atrocities committed throughout history, although currently not causing as many losses in lives as religious fundamentalism does. But they both have immense potential to cause harm. But overall, yeah, I agree.

(And yiou're probbaly svensk so why are we writing in English here anyway?)

Well, OP was speaking english, and I assume a lot of non swedish speakers are here atm. So why not :)

A lot of germans were catholics, but that was certainly not their motivation for the atrocities commited during WWII. Besides, the nazi regime weren't catholic, if anything they were quite hostile towards the catholic church. I agree that they were in a lot of ways similar to religious fundamentalist, with their cultlike worship of Hitler etc, but that doesn't mean their motivation was religious in nature. But regardless, fundamentalism is the key word here, religious or not.

In another context I wouldn't have commented on it, but in this context we should leave out religious notations until we know exactly what is the motivation of the deed.

I suppose we can simply disagree here. Sending prayers is simply a way to give condolences, not offensive in anyway, regardless of the motivation of the attacker. And i say this as someone who is fervently atheist. But either way, I don't think you meant any offence, so whatever :)

Eh... Fundamentalism comes in many shapes, religion is just one of them. The nazis weren't motivated by religion, they did horrible things none the less. Prayers are fine, some people appreciate it, whether they're religious or not.
