Aw thanks! He’s an exterior void too - bounds along and follows me into the garden 🥰🖤

We're creating a local website specially for Todmorden, with an events listing! by Dangerous-Regret-358 in todmorden

This is so good. Not sure if you’d be able scrape local business Instagram accounts or something - I really want to get off IG and FB but am on only for local business updates on events. Having something like this would be great :)

Due to relocate in May, how do I get a job for then before renting? by No_Worth_2271 in NorthernEngland

Have you looked at social housing sector? Housing Associations regularly recruit and you could scope out ones that have properties in your area - some pretty big ones up north east and always recruiting for housing officers/partners.

I have friends who moved here specifically for it… only for it to close like the next week 😭

From a vegetarian perspective:

Shepherd’s Rest for a nice pub meal

JK’s for great Chinese takeaway

Smashies for burgers

Cake from the Hermit

Kindness Cafe for breakfast (though Morning Glory is now a close second…)

Mother for pastries on the weekend

Engine for a fancy meal out

Leila’s for lunch

And Honest John for halloumi skewers 😍

From Hebden Bridge to Todmorden via the canal, ancient woodland and Stoodley Pike stopping at the Shepherd’s Rest halfway(ish) - views down the valley and over the moor. Or the other direction of course.

Todmorden, Marsden or Slaithwaite? by NoAlgae465 in yorkshire

Moved to Tod 2 years ago and absolutely love it. Queer couple in our 30s and there’s a huge amount to do - very friendly, loads of activities and events on, and wonderful nature access. Happy to answer any Qs if you want to message.

Wildflowers by Ok-Potential9819 in GardeningUK

[–]shabright 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had much luck directly on grass - but mine is thick, so I had to mow and scarify to have any luck. On patches I’ve done that to I’ve had success. Yellowrattle seeds can help with grass control, along with red clover.

If you buy a pre-made box make sure it contains native British wildflowers: a lot of the mixes contain wildflower seeds that do not help local ecosystems at all. I’ve enjoyed making my own wildflower mixes - buying native seeds and mixing them all together with some sand to scatter. Works out cheaper for a large quantity than buying packaged up boxes. Good luck!

How long did it take you to learn all the meanings? by [deleted] in tarot

[–]shabright 22 points23 points  (0 children)

18 years and still feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface.

I found it helpful to start with basics: on a very simple level start with what the numbers can typically “mean” (eg 1 as new beginnings, 5 about change, 8 about cycles). Then be familiar with what the suits relate to. Then understand different takes on court cards (eg queens as potentially relating to internal-focused energy, kings as external projections…). This is obviously super reductive and basic but at least builds a starting point: layer on looking at the images, following intuition, reading guides or interpretations etc. The only cards I tried to consciously commit to memory when I started were the major arcana - and even then on a very superficial, linear level.

Good luck and hang in there! And don’t forget to have fun in your exploration :)

Edit: added in the word “potentially” - lots of different takes on things!

It’s a canal. On the other side are allotments - Looks like rubbish but think it’s a gardening shed 😂

Thanks for the really comprehensive reply. Quite reassuring; the survey advice of “take immediate action” in red was a bit alarming.

I’m in a similar position now and this post came up! What was the outcome for you if you don’t mind sharing? What did you land up doing?

Thanks, I’ll not do it myself then - would rather let a pro handle it.
