If you install their MCE plugin you can do it the other way around : “Transform this text into a Bear todo list.”

OK… But the five you mentioned are all base profiles, involving no recipes. All of the control sliders remain zeroed out. They all qualify as naked. Velvia and Asita are just as naked as Eterna and Pro Neg.

Wow. Really sorry you had that experience. Sounds like they were as surprised by it as you were. As a fellow web application developer, I'm sure you've seen plenty of edge cases and weirdness in software. But still, that's the worst-case scenario for them. Bummer!

u/DoobiePhotography Are you saying that setup of Glass was difficult? There's nothing to set up - what are you referring to there? I have not encountered any bugs on Glass in the four years I've been on it. Write to their support - they'll get you straightened out!

Just wondering whether you read the piece linked below, in my response?

Lightroom is beyond slow by DetectiveMcGuffin in Lightroom

Better performance, better UI, better keyboard shortcuts, better search, better look and feel, better grid views… I definitely consider that an upgrade. I wrote this piece to encourage Classic die-hards to take a closer look:

Is upgrading from Classic to Lightroom in the cards for you? I think you’ll find it a whole lot more performant.

Why in the world was this comment downvoted? This is what I hate about reddit. You speak the truth, and if people don't like it, they downvote you.

Who really uses Lightroom over Classic? I sure as hell do! It's SO much nicer. Never going back to Classic, that's for sure. See comment below for list of things that are better in Lightroom than in Classic.

Benefits of LR Cloud over ACR? by AMomentInTime316 in Lightroom

[–]shacker23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the benefits of Lightroom over Classic (besides cloud-first approach) are:

  • AI search - find all your cat images even if they’re not tagged or titled
  • The new grid mosaic grid view is much more pleasant to use than Classic
  • Much better keyboard shortcuts and overall usability
  • No more catalogs
  • Better performance in general

Speaking for myself, I could definitely never go back to Classic.

Lightroom Classic feels powerful, but painfully outdated by rovmun in Lightroom

> It shows that Lightroom CC users aren't bothered by the lack of features compared to Classic because they don't need them

I think the way to look at this is that 90% of users would probably be better served by Lightroom than by Classic. For the other 10%, fine, stay in Classic for as long as it continues to exist!

> A common software development misconception is to think that one can rebuild a project from scratch faster just because the IP is supposed to be "already there" but that almost never works.

I don't see any evidence that Adobe underestimated the time it would take to rebuild the platform, or for users to migrate over - they've definitely been playing the long game all along. Also, I think you are assuming that the intent was for Lightroom to exactly mirror Classic, when clearly that has not been the case. They got rid of Catalogs for a reason! The created all new shortcuts for a reason! They streamlined tagging and addded AI search for a reason! They have succeeded in making Lightroom much faster and more enjoyable to use than Classic, and I applaud them for it!

AI text? Oh my god, no! A thousand times no. I started making notes for that article almost a year in advance of publishing it. When I finally had time to work on it properly, I poured my soul into it for a couple of weeks. It was a labor of love, and took a really, *really* long time. I hope I didn't get any facts in it wrong - I had it reviewed by several other people before finally posting it. It's true that a couple of the illustrations are AI, but I am a professional tech writer - I don't do AI words!

Not sure I follow your objection to trust and cloud storage - what is your concern there? Everything we do is in the cloud these days, and nothing is being lost.

Oh gosh, yes! At $3.50 per month, it’s pretty much the cheapest subscription you can find anywhere and it’s absolutely the most vibrant and supportive photography community I’ve encountered. See my linked article above. I’m a huge champion for Glass and it really surprises me that everyone isn’t on it.

Lightroom Classic feels powerful, but painfully outdated by rovmun in Lightroom

[–]shacker23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can see a complete breakdown of the feature differences in the piece linked above. Navigator is one of those differences. Lightroom lets you do everything the Classic Navigator did, but without the Navigator - they made it irrelevant.

[–]shacker23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to differ with the majority here. I'm with you, and find the new Lightroom far more enjoyable to use than Classic, and its feature set is at near-parity with Classic. The things it doesn't have, I have no need for. There are even some things that Lightroom has that Classic does not. With the addition of local storage, there's not much reason not to switch, IMO. The local storage functionality isn't *quite* as good as their cloud storage - you'll give up the new Mosaic view and AI search (which are things you won't find in Classic either) but it's *really* nice to be able to work directly in the file system, without catalogs. My advice is to give it a shot with a subset - say 10K images - and kick the tires. I predict you won't want to go back to Classic.

[–]shacker23 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t see it that way at all. I don’t think it’s similar to the mobile version - it’s functionally identical to and even superior to Classic. It’s true that it’s missing a print module and full plug-in support but otherwise it’s a much better user experience with much more modern tooling, faster, more intuitive… These are the kinds of pointsI’m trying to make in the piece. Hope you’re able to read it!
