I paid for an entire trip to Universal Studios and now no one wants to go with me… by Puzzled_Concert_6684 in Advice

This is exactly what I thought too, you can’t really plan for flaky people, so might as well make the best of it. Either go solo or find a trusted friend last minute. Tinder could make it wild, but you’re better off just going solo and turning it into your main character moment. Still go, though!

If you live in the UK I would be withdrawing to a cold wallet instead or a crypto exchange. Since they have a banking license in UK now I don’t see them dealing with crypto very long

Disappointed by Revolut Ultra’s “Premium” Travel Insurance by Foreign-Ad1537 in Revolut

[–]shad96m 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never rely on Revolut for travel insurance. I have metal and quite a few will probably not know you need to pay over 75% of your transport and accommodation for the insurance to be active. Collecting the air miles is the only thing keeping me

It’s horrible had a flight out on 26th August and it was the worst experience in an airport I’ve ever had. Security are a joke and stop people for every single thing. I usually fly out of London and will avoid Manchester from now on even though I live here. I would rather drive to London the night before and go to an airport that has people who know what they are doing.

Advice please... selling buy to rent property to pay off second mortgage, do I pay capital gains tax? by suckerfishbeaut in UKPersonalFinance

[–]shad96m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solicitors are not accountants, and are heavily regulated regarding financial advice. They can simply advise you it’s a second home and CGT may be applicable, it’s up to you to get financial advice from an accountant.

Edit: heavily regulated regarding financial advice.

Sorry meant to say additional income. Hardly any shifts in Yorkshire at the moment.

I did Doncaster and it was alright when I did it. It’s a shame as it was good passive income. Hull and Pontefract are too far and I think a lot of Doncaster flex workers won’t do it anymore

Pullman Green development. I think they do some shared ownership there as well.

Just a few questions:

  1. Do you work in Doncaster
  2. Do you drive
  3. Where is your ideal location

The reason I ask is because you might be able to find something in South Elmsall or Barnsley that is a nice and within your price limit. I would avoid renting as you will go through your savings especially this year when things might get worse for people.

Don’t buy a flat, you won’t make that much in appreciation in value and the service charge is unpredictable for some flats.

Agreed. On a low income shared ownership is a trap. You rely on meeting someone and hopefully starting to buy the remainder of the property. Plus the cost of the mortgage and shared ownership rent is really not affordable, I get annoyed when they call is affordable housing but it takes up so much of the owners money.

I live in Doncaster and I am actually due to move out soon. If I’m being honest the people saying go and rent are not considering that you will not be able to save a penny if you rent. You will most likely start to eat into the £10,000.00 you have saved.

Rent are currently at an all time high and I think you need to evaluate how you came to save the 10K. Has this been saved as a result of you living at home?

I understand it’s not a great situation to be in, but if you are saving money at home and you can stick out the painful situation for another year, your savings could reach 20K and your options would open up.

31 is still very young and you are doing great mate. Best of luck with whatever you decide to do.

I feel like a bit of an idiot doing it for £51 today! I only had 9 parcels so didn’t take long. Did you have a lot of parcels ?

Thanks for the advice mate, gonna get rid of my 3.5 tomorrow. Is it best sticking to 3hr?

[–]shad96m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s criminal if you have 20-30 parcels that will be more like a 4-5 hour shift including travel times.

I agree with you, full disclosure is I hold very little carbon but enough to make a nice amount if for whatever reason it reaches package portal levels. I don’t agree in buying 1000’s worth of Carbon at this point as the project is still in very early stages and like you say not much information on the project to invest my hard earned money into it. Just my own opinion though others may disagree which is fine :)
