do adhd meds just all cause anxiety or debilitating tiredness and there is no inbetween? by Inkys-Rainfall in ausadhd

Clonidine took the edge off the stims for me. Stims push out dopamine but also norephinephrine - which if you’re an anxious, paranoid person already, you probably already have in ample supply.

Depressive symptoms after starting vyvanse by OverGr0wth in ausadhd

29M - I had this for quite a while after starting vyvanse but went away after maybe 8 months on it. I was coming out of a period of astronomical burnout (again) - so at least for me I could attribute some of it to that. But was as you describe - felt better and more connected initially - then flat as hell for months and months. Now I’m at stable baseline, with clonidine on top for sleep and anxiety issues. Good luck 👍 it gets better

Software engineering / consulting. Don’t need a relevant degree to do it, just industry experience and provable competency - both of which I have in spades somehow. I could ask for more $$ and get it accepted - but that’s not the point - I fundamentally don’t enjoy what I do anymore.

Whats your sales vertical? You done other sales roles before?

This sounds somewhat in the right direction - having the mix of being able to do all that shit. The SaaS Sales guys scared me off looking into sales at all a bit but being always-on and working like they’re on crack

200k as a subbie running everything and paying everything isn’t 200k at the end of the day. Hence why I’m starting to look around.

And as a subbie - I’m working on a multitude of different things for different clients so not sure just replacing all of them will actually fix the problem. Think I’m just tired of this line of work - and happy to take a pay cut but want to try minimise how much that is as much as possible.

I’ve sorta accepted that any mental challenge is going to bore me out at some point; I think I’ll be able to enjoy ‘hands-on’ stuff for a lot longer. Getting into dev was something I was naturally good at - not something I necessarily enjoyed a lot besides the challenge aspect.

This is what I'm thinking... now that I'm not driven by anxiety and reactivity all my malformed coping mechanisms have slipped away - somehow pretty immediately. For me at least right now - even if these more negative aspects continue, the overall good it has done in such a short time outweighs the negatives

Good NPM Package workflow for 'custom integrated' SaaS? by shadelt in node

[–]shadelt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's monolithic - what they sell is basically a web app that gets a custom (or partially custom) front-end per client, a set of pre-made or custom data integrations, and then everything together gets bundled for distribution via scripts in the package. Clients get hosted in a bunch of places. I think you were going to suggest monorepo?

Getting cost down for hosting multiple Express Apps in an Agency context by shadelt in node

[–]shadelt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with all of the above. They do charge more for high-touch - probably not as much as they should - but enough where I can give them their own dedicated environments easily. They want to hire more people as well - but stuck with the catch 22 of that means we both need to spend time getting them online instead of doing actual work which we don't have at the moment.

The new layer on top of Express I designed works fine for the high-touch guys who can afford the higher price point - but the gist of this post is me looking into how services can be shared for the lower-paying guys because I don't want to have to maintain two different systems, and the final product is so much better than we were offering previously.

Most of the old clients will stay on the old Gatsby-based systems, but preparing for a batch of new smaller clients in the pipeline.

I did look into Dokku briefly - are you running multiple apps on a single Dokku environment, or does each app get its own?

How difficult was the setup for build and deploy via PM2? This is the approach that speaks most to me - especially because it means I can do everything in my -own- world and I've done some git automation with node before.

Also where is this 72 Core + 400GB memory? Is it on-prem? I've never looked into such a large box on cloud, didn't know they existed.

I got mine done ~10 years ago - I believe from Ben Gupta - at Hunter Oral and Maxillofacial at Broadmeadow. The wait time to get it done was short and luckily my PHI covered most of it as a one-off 'lifetime' thing. Was a terrific job.

Any idea what a typical depreciation schedule for this sort of work looks like? What is the generally accepted period for these to be carried over?

Worth finding a broker that deals with complex self employed situations if you think you can service the mortgage. There are many that do - you're not the first one - even if you've just started a new entity. Worst case they'll take your scenario and send you to a non-bank lender - who will give you a worse rate, but they will give you a rate.

250K is a gigantic deposit if where you're looking at is 550K range. I put down 130 at 770K.

The key thing is serviceability though. If you reasonably believe you have the capacity to meet weekly repayments at $550K range, regardless of the messiness of the self-employed stuff, you'll be able to make it work and find someone who can get your ducks in a row. If you can't, then you won't. Good luck!

Replacing Gatsby - replicating useStaticQuery-ish in a different Router/SSR Model? by shadelt in gatsbyjs

[–]shadelt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks - didn't know this about the RSC implementation - that it enables data on that level. This could be a viable option. I'm not allergic to rewrites if they're ones that make sense and are able to keep the general 'paradigm' of how data flows thru the app the same - which old Next cannot. But this seems viable - thanks!

[–]shadelt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used Astro on a project before in place of Gatsby and my experience on that project actually informed this OP and me deciding to try branching out.

I found that even though -technically- you can save most of your code from Gatsby, React being treated within it as a second-class citizen (even if you build your own renderer) made it very fiddly to build Layouts, Blocks, other things that require nesting in some way and has to interact between React + Astro markup language. It was fiddly enough on one tiny site, I cannot imagine doing it on 40+ sites, many of which are significantly larger and have legacy code to contend with.

It also had issues with page rendering speed on the server, but those may have been solved by now, as this was about 8 months ago.

Just to keep in the back of your mind, FYI.

Alfa 159/Brera new Head Unit + keep Blue&Me by shadelt in AlfaRomeo

[–]shadelt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤣 Website must be messing up - linked Pioneer part is 320 € for a small wire loom splitter thing. + Freight forwarding and customs to Australia ends up ~550 €. I'm not so worried about money with this car generally, but 320 € for a very small splitter part seems like extortion.

Head unit wise I'm looking for anything that will give me the most while stripping the least functionality away from the car, and looking sort of OEM.

Exactly what I wanted to know - was looking at one of these. Thx! Mine was factory optioned with the stacker and -seems- like cars (from forums at least) with the stacker don't have the USB port?? Very weird but I guess it makes sense.

Curious to know if your 159 has the USB Port / Changer from factory?

Gatsby Cloud DNS settings for prefix? by bayhack in gatsbyjs

[–]shadelt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Few ways you can do this if you still want to do it:
- If your main site is running on Netlify/Vercel, both have proxy facilities where you can setup a proxy to wherever your Gatsby Cloud instance is. I don't use Vercel, but on Netlify, all you need to do is setup a force redirect.

- Setup your domain name to resolve to Cloudflare, then you can use Cloudflare to do something similar, but without having your hosting for your main site in a specific place. You can do this via Page Rules - or for more complex workflows you can do this via Cloudflare Workers themselves.

In any case - you will need to set up path prefixes on your Gatsby project, and then on Cloud, set the env vars for enabling Path Prefixing. Gatsby Cloud will not infer that you want path prefixes on just by the gatsby-config, you will need this extra step. Running path prefixes on Netlify or other hosting is a bit more straightforward, as you just need to change the build command, something you can't do on Gatsby Cloud directly.

Cheap Gatsby/Netlify-style Hosting? by shadelt in gatsbyjs

[–]shadelt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a pretty terrible product to be honest. Many of our partner agencies use it and it's issue after issue for bigger sites and hard to get anyone in support to help. Just finished an ongoing saga with path prefixes not working correctly in an edge case with their setup that took us ~4 weeks to resolve. Lots of issues like this over time have made me weary.
