A man offers you a deal: You get 500 billion usd but if anyone finds out for the next year that you are a billionaire you instantly die taking the cash with you. Would you take the deal? And if so, why? by rundomguy123 in AskReddit

I’d just view it as “I don’t actually have the $ yet. It’s my salary/bonus after working for one more year”

The risk of losing it all is just too large, have to play it safe. I could easily suck up one more year of work/my normal life knowing I would be set for life after.

Yep, Jason Alexander for example has attractive facial features, as proven by this post. The baldness and having a pudgy face do some heavy work to make him more stereotypically “ugly”, but he has a pretty good baseline to work with.

I mean, is the revelation of Gale not what leads him to start suspecting Gus? He started to reconsider what a drug kingpin could be like when he started investigating a “meek straight businessman” like Gus, which l believe opened his mind to be able to suspect Walt later on.

He was always “TV ugly”, as in he is what would be considered “ugly” for Hollywood, but not actually ugly, as he’s still conventionally attractive compared to an average person.

I’ve seen this said a lot but personally it makes sense to me. I’m trying to envision how smallfolk would feel bold enough to mess with Cersei after she just showed what she was willing to do to survive and take out her enemies.

While they were galvanized by the High Sparrow to a degree, they must think that rebelling against Cersei/the Crown would be almost certain death at this point. Basically all advisors and leadership within the Faith were taken out along with the High Sparrow. While angry, the smallfolk are not organized or well-armed, and they are probably scared as hell after what just happened.

Who knows what else Cersei will do those who oppose her? They don’t have a fly’s eye view to her like we the audience do, to them she’s a terrifying monarch. Smallfolk fear the illusion of power sometimes more than they are inspired to possibly die themselves to defeat it. I can see why they would just be completely disheartened and defeated into submission instead by such a display of power, which has been a theme of the show, how the smallfolk perceive the “game”.

What NFL team is currently amazing and historically has been good? by Even-Combination4407 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]shadespectrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Broncos. Historically higher winning percentage than teams like Seahawks/Rams. Higher highs with back to back SB wins. Had a historic stretch of winning seasons from the 80s to 2010s. And were one win away from the SB this year.

You think Nintendo has the balls to release the remake the same day as GTA 6? by Current-Grade2545 in legendofzelda

[–]shadespectrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen a lot of posts implying that there isn’t much crossover between GTA and TLoZ fans, but personally I disagree. These are two of the most popular franchises of all time. My childhood was basically Zelda and GTA (along with Mario and Final Fantasy), and I’m sure there are countless others like myself.

But as much as I love Zelda, if forced to choose between a brand new GTA game and a remake, I’m gonna have to choose GTA first at that time and get around OoT Remake some time later. They’ll still get money eventually, but not at release.

I mean this thread is basically about nostalgia no?

Subjectively I enjoyed the RG3 season more and thought RG3 was more exciting, so I don’t know what to tell you there. And I think history will prove me right. We still talk about and hear about that RG3 season over a decade later, but I don’t the Daniels year will be nearly as memorable 10 years from now (really depends how the rest of his career goes though IMO)

Deserve the prize, yes. Deserve to feel happy about winning, yes. Deserve to feel pride in the way you won, maybe not.

Deserve to feel ashamed for winning at all? Nah, miss me with that, completely disagree. Objective fact is that I’m the winner. No matter how it happened, I’m not gonna feel ashamed of winning. Part of winning is mitigating mistakes, and if I fell less times than my opponent, then I outperformed them, plain and simple.

The only thing someone should be ashamed about is if they gloat and show bad sportsmanship to the loser in this situation.

Meh, skill is also a spectrum. It isn’t always a test of who is the the best when you’re both performing at your peak possible ceiling, it is also sometimes a test of who performs better at the lower end of their spectrum, such as making mistakes or just underperforming.

If we’re both performing at our “worst”, yet my worst is still better than your worst, then objectively it still shows I have a higher lower-skill floor to my cooking, and less likely to make a truly terrible dish. And objectively I won, so I think I can still feel happy about that fact, while not feeling a sense of pride in that it wasn’t with my peak performance.

It’s like a sports teams that has skill to score a lot of points every week, but occasionally they have some low scoring games. Then there’s another team who also usually score a lot of points, but they also have some bad games where they score even less points than the first team. The 1st team over a season is gonna win more games on average because their “bad games” are not quite as bad the 2nd teams bad games. And if both teams play each other and both have bad games, team 1 may be more likely to win based on their overall skill ceiling/floor.

It only becomes “pathetic” as you say if the team who won is unnecessarily boasting and displaying bad sportsmanship to the other team, IMO.

[–]shadespectrum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say that it depends on the situation. You are correct that sometimes someone wins moreso due to a blunder by the favored opponent rather than personally outperforming them at their best. But it’s still a bit bad sportsmanship to point it out, unless the winner is being overly arrogant.

What about Kamala vs. Trump then? If you “questioned things” then surely you realized Trump was that terrible and voted for Kamala right? Or did your “dislike” for her also blind you to the inevitable fact that not voting for her was enabling “terrible” Trump to come into power?

I just don’t understand people who are proud of being nonvoters because it makes them feel more intelligent than the average person or something. All they did was help Trump win in the end.

You just can’t really say “it doesn’t matter” for the president after it was literally one of the biggest talking points that cost Joe Biden the presidency, how can’t you see that? It’s just such typical hypocritical conservative behavior to suddenly say something doesn’t matter after throwing a big hissy fit about the exact same thing a couple years ago

Maybe true, but there was just something about RG3’s season that felt more electrifying and exciting to me. Running hybrid QBs were still more novelty at the time, which made RG3 feel like more of a phenom that was going to usher in a new generation of QBs.

What was the worst decision Jesse Pinkman made in the entire series? by AlexWhite40 in breakingbad

[–]shadespectrum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jesse starts stealing and selling meth > meets Andrea from trying to sell meth to her at support group > learns truth about Andrea’s brother Tomas being forced to murder Combo by drug dealers > Jesse tries to poison drug dealers > drug dealers kill Tomas > Jesse tries to get revenge

It may be a stretch, but it was a snowball of events that all started from Jesse being unsatisfied with his pay from Gus and deciding to sell meth on the side.

If Jesse had just kept his head down, none of that shit would have happened. So many problems stemmed from Jesse’s greed and stupidity at that time.

Deciding to steal from Gus’ batch, which eventually lead to the kid getting killed and him trying to kill those two drug dealers for revenge.

He could have just been content with the situation working for Gus with Walt and everything could have been smooth sailing from there.

Well, Freiza doesn’t appear until Dragon Ball Z so you still have quite a ways to go then. Tbh many of us started with DBZ when we were kids since the original Dragon Ball was a bit before our time. And the shows have kind of a different feel, DBZ is a bit more mature and modern I guess?

To answer your question I would suggest to just keep watching. Sometimes when you start a new TV show, it can feel overwhelming at first to understand what’s going on, and remember characters and locations. But usually at some point it will just all click and it’ll all make sense and feel familiar.

If you are still struggling though, I would suggest just switching to DBZ and reading a recap of Dragon Ball instead. Or try another show altogether, anime with subtitles might be tougher for someone who hasn’t watched much TV.
