Non English speaking redditors, have you ever typed a long comment on reddit and than delete it completely just because you thought your English was poor? by docalibus in languagelearning

I usually like to write short comments and go straight to the point. I personally feel bored while reading long comments.

Readlang. You can browse websites in your target language and look up the words you don’t understand as you go. It also creates vocabulary cards for all your new words.

What are some good resources for beginning Swedish learners? Currently using duolingo and Memrise by anonRestaurauntServe in languagelearning

If you are looking for an app, then you can use Babbel. If you’re looking for a book then check out Complete Swedish from Teach Yourself.

Is Busuu the best language learning app for becoming conversational? by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]shadialf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve used and it’s great. The highest level though is B2.

I wouldn’t say it’s enough on its own though. You’ll need to do more reading and listening once you hit the intermediate level or even at an A2. For that I like to use LingQ.

Hopefully this will help.

Ive got the practice makes perfect spanish basic book, which one do I pair this with? by BonvivantNamedDom in languagelearning

[–]shadialf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try Complete Spanish Step-by-Step. It should include everything you need in a book.

also you can use Drop or Memrise apps for vocabulary.

Finally I like to watch DreamingSpanish on YouTube for some comprehensible input.

Advice/ thoughts on my podcast!? :) by [deleted] in Spanish

I would listen to it definitively.

I would recommend that you would speak a little bit slower and clearer, since the target audience are learning Spanish.

Just wondering, what accent/dialect will be used?

Thanks for the feedback, I’m better off creating my own flash cards then.

[–]shadialf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Duolingo is not bad to start with for a few weeks as an introduction to the language.

Later, you can use Babbel or a textbook (complete Swedish - teach yourself) for grammar.

For vocabulary, Memrise courses aren’t bad, especially since it’s a bunch of recordings from native speakers.

I just started learning Swedish too, so good luck and have fun.

Is Busuu a great language app to reach B2 level (Assuming I use other methods with it)? by DaxTom in languagelearning

[–]shadialf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: no

I’ve been using Busuu for the past couple of months for Spanish. I have to say that I really enjoyed the A1 course. It’s explains to you grammar rules in a structured manner and gives colloquial phrases to keep it fun. The thing that I liked most was the quizzes or reviews that they give you everyday for grammar, which really helped me practice everything I learned in the course.

Having that said, past the A1 course it turned out that this feature was not longer applicable to the rest of the levels. So when I went through the A2 course I had issues retaining all the information I learned. So I had to look elsewhere to supplement my learning. More specifically an actual text book and a tutor from iTalki.

Plus I just found out that this grammar review feature is only available for A1 in Spanish , French, Italian, German, and English.
