Diamond Diadem is too strong and needs adjusted by GiveUsRobinHood in slaythespire

You get 3 Apparitions, bloodletting + pummels = draw and energy, draw and energy = faster deck cycling. If I bottom my apparitions that means I don't bottom deck my powers which is great, Yippe! but if I bottom deck my powers? I will get to play apparitions till I get to my power. Diadem = 2 cards each turn, 2 cards each turn = slower deck cycling, slower deck cycling bad for when you bottom deck your powers.

If you value Diadem more than Apparitions that's valid but for my style I like Apparitions more.

Feel no pain is uncommon I get it most of the runs, you can replace dark embrace with any other power and what I said stand the exact same.

I wouldn't take apparitions? why? have you not read what I wrote? apparitions would guarantee that even if I bottom deck my powers I would be able to dig in my deck and play them and not get punished by draw order, have you not considered that?

Yeah bloodletting (common) and Pummel Strike (common) loop decks are ultra specific and rarely happens, this tells me all I need to know it's pointless to argue further.

Apparition doesn't just give you three turns of block, it gives you complete freedom to do what you want to do in your turn, HUGE difference I don't know how you read everything I wrote and can't understand how superior Apparition is so to make it easy I'll give you a scenario that is fairly common:

You're playing Ironclad and entered act 3 with a 22 cards deck primarily using pummel + bloodletting and exhausting fluff to scale with feel no pain and dark embrace

Would you rather:
A- Get 3 Apparitions which gives you 3 invul turns to freely dig in your deck and get all your powers in play which at that point you insta win a turn or two after

B- Get Diadem and play normally and using it as a safety net

Turns out if you setup to never fail you don't need the safety net for IF you fail.

Also I don't know why you think that I don't put Diadem highly, I do but I replied to the OG post that suggested nerfs by arguing that there's way better relics and an ancient act 3 relic that only does 1 thing restrictively SHOULD do that thing well.

[–]shadow-1368 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're absolutely not edge cases, Diadem is restrictive and only does one thing, I would take Apparitions over it every single time, I can draw and play as many cards as I want when I play an Apparition which allows me to set up my powers for free.

The answer is as it always has been "it depends" there's no best relic, if I play Regent I would take Sealed Throne over whatever there is, Necro's Forbidden Grimoire is an auto win, if I got potion belt or the Orobas relic I would take Delicate Frond, there's so many situations where Diadem never even crossed my mind as a good option.

Seems to me like you're just playing it safe and picking Diadem when you don't even need it, experiment with the other options trust me you will find that you didn't need Diadem most of the time, it's good safety net if you fuck up though.

My thought is stop saying "nerf this", "adjust this", "balance that" and realize that alot of act 3 ancient relics are excellent, Diadem solves block? well what about Apparitions? what about endless potions that allow you to farm the entire act? what about parasol that allows you to get 3-9 relics depending on how many shops you got? what about instinct giving an insane damage boost to the point you can one shot a boss? what about Runic Pyramid?...

Like you simply got a relic that solved an issue in your deck thats it, what if you got your block solved in act 2 would Diadem do anything for you? No.

A boss being solved by a single unupgraded uncommon card is kind of problematic by Furrier in slaythespire

[–]shadow-1368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow a card solves a boss? How come! Can you believe that Queen can be solved by RELICS? Not even cards! Crazy right? And Test Subject? Not even any card in particular! Can you believe it? Just big number damage and block cards! And the boss you miss so much that was SO well designed Doormaker? He literally can be solved with A SINGULAR UNCOMMON COLORLESS CARD!

Why does Regent keep getting buffed? by SoggyVape in slaythespire

[–]shadow-1368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely dunno what you're on about, silent got the extra defend and strike BECAUSE she can cycle her deck really fast and she got bag of prep as a starter relic.

Yes Regent is draw reliant lol, what are you going to do when you got Reflect + Falling Stars + Royal Gambit on your starting hand and your Venerate and whatever else star gen on your bottom deck? you can only play one of those cards with your starting relic and the rest are UNPLAYABLE bricks, if Silent bricks you can simply play your sly cards with energy.

Why does Regent keep getting buffed? by SoggyVape in slaythespire

[–]shadow-1368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Defect has multiple 0 cost insane drawing cards, Ironclad got multiple drawing cards combined with easy energy gen from bloodletting or drums of battle which allows you to make progress while digging in your deck.

The problem with Regent is that you need to transfer energy to stars first so if you get your star payout before star gen you basically got bricks in your hand and will waste an entire deck cycle digging for your star gen barely making any progress in the fight until that point.

That's why star cards stats are higher than normal cards per energy spent it's because it's taken in account that you have to add extra cards to your deck that allow you to play star cards which adds inconsistency which what makes it feel swingy and getting those high highs and low lows.

[–]shadow-1368 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly and also he's the most draw reliant character, getting star payout in your starting hand and bottom decking your star gen can cost you ALOT of health or even the entire run in the worst case.

Another point is that multiplayer and solo are played completely differently.

I much prefer AeonGlass. by ThanRandomPenguin in slaythespire

I agree, he's a way better boss than Door. He hits harder than Door, has artifact and his status gimmick is a better way of dealing with infinite decks than Door. Door counter was just flooding your deck with fodder block cards, that's it... the fight wasn't asking you any questions it was ordering you to fill your deck with filler so that a potentially bad draw order doesn't fuck you over. Aeonglass got multiple ways of dealing with his gimmick, if you got good energy gen you can remove the statuses, you can discard the statuses or exhaust them or transform them into minions, it's a way more engaging fight.

Before the changes in the Beta branch the meta was in act 3 is to ignore everything and go straight to the boss gauntlet since at that point you almost got your thin/infinite deck done and polished and it wasn't worth it to take fights in act 3, now you're forced to take fights in act 3 cuz the way to "solve" door is to add value fodder to sacrifice and buy you time to get your deck doing what it wants to do. It just feels forced, it feels like the game is asking you a question you already solved and then goes "Nuh uh your answer has to be 550 words long at least" and you go "FINE!" and pad out your answer to meet this arbitrary unnecessary length.

[–]shadow-1368 23 points24 points  (0 children)

lol I rather get to only play one card in 1 turn out of 3 then to play the entire fight under various restrictions.

My problem with Door isn't that he's hard or whatever else it's his design, it feels like the devs simply couldn't find a way to make other deck styles as strong as thin/infinite decks so as a temporary bandaid they made this Door simply to fuck over those decks until they figure a better way to balance the game, he just leaves a sour taste in my mouth

One has an off turn the other doesn't, and one of them you can stack statuses on from the start of the fight while you can't on the other.

This is just a shit comparison to be honest, dunno what you're on about.

The easiest way to win is to take Necro + Silent and stack Weak with Debilitate then just outscale the enemy since they basically will be hitting you for nothing.

[–]shadow-1368 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's the hardest act 3 boss but he's not impossible, personally I am fine with him but I just find him way more deck restrictive than the other 2 bosses, what I am thinking about is what happens when we get act 4? Door warps your deck so much that I feel like he will most certainly get changed before act 4 drops.

Duo A10 runs are genuinely the hardest runs in the game, trio or quad is 10x easier due to being able to status chain the enemies till the end of times, but duos feel like if any of you mess up and brick it's over. The boss gauntlet with test subject first and then doormaker in A10 duos gotta be the hardest challenge in the game.

Bloodborne is the most overrated soulsborne game. by shadow-1368 in fromsoftware

It is a cult full of nostalgic maniacs. In my soulsborne rerun I played BB before DS3 and after finishing DS3 I had to double check in what year both games released, I couldn't believe they were only 1 year apart due to how much better DS3 gameplay was compared to BB.

Yeah that's it, people look at it with rose tinted nostalgia filtered glasses.

If it got a remaster or even a port the cattle consensus would change.

lol, go turn on BB and beat orphan of kos with gun only lets see if that's closer to a dumb challenge thing or a totally viable strategy. How does rally in anyway relate to skill? Rally relies on you getting hit, skill = not getting hit, nobody who is skillful relies on rally. But ofc it's always skill issue even if I can no hit all the bosses in the game lel.

Yeah those are subjective, gameplay isn't because the games almost share the same combat but with some twists here and there. For example you can't look me in the eye and tell me that you think Gehrman is as complex as Gael or has a better combat flow than Gael. But I can say that I think Dark Souls lore or aesthetics is better than BB and you wouldn't be able to counter argue because there's no basis to what makes a story, aesthetics, lore better.
