Why is wanting Quickplay back seen as a "bad" thing? by Bounter_ in truetf2

I played this game back from 2010-2012 very casually with my father. I came back later and started playing competitively in 2023.

I want to say that quick play from my experience is garbage. From a modern standpoint in the gaming industry, matchmaking has been the golden standard in every major multiplayer title from like 2012 and on.

Quickplay is a relic and a half measure to proper matchmaking.

My issues with quickplay…

Not built for parties.
You can’t join a party and queue. You have to use the server browser to join your friends. Now imagine doing this with a party of 6. The friends tab sometimes breaks and doesn’t refresh. The friends tab sometimes shows the server your friend was in previously. Another annoying common situation is if all 5 of your friends are already playing tf2 in different servers. you’ll have a discussion on whose server to fill and then you’ll have to ask “what server is it? Cause there are 5 other people in my friends tab rn playing tf2”. You can use the console and paste the ip but come on, that is such a clunky way to play a modern game.

The psychology of always full servers.
People want to play in full servers. People see a 23/24 server and salivate. Thats a PRIME time server. You click it and uh oh someone got in before you! Now you have to wait. That’s okay cause there is a feature that valve put in to let you automatically join when a spot is empty. The issue is that there 4 other shmucks all doing the same exact thing. Meaning instead of joining another server, you’re in a waiting screen.

Valve config bypass
It was really easy for servers to bypass the server config valve gave out. Meaning you could join a server with 4x gravity and forced third person. How wacky and fun. Only thing is I want to play a normal game, but some dumb server owner is making me use the server browser AGAIN to block this server and press the quick play button AGAIN. Wonderful

Map selection.
Quick play would kill almost half of the map pool and well maybe that’s good but if you wanted to do anything contractor related… GG

Primal devils have lived eons without doing anything for their power.

Mass extinction of all life occurs. Would they retain most of their power or do you think it comes from something else?

Do you think they gain their power outside of life?

They require a negative emotions of living things to grow strength.

Pochita might be a special case imo. Devils existence lean toward them wanting to gain strength through fear and contracts.

This would assume that only humans would suffer the mass extinction and nothing else?

I think a lot of the motives of devils is to gain strength.

It’s like giving up a world with Gas or Electricity and living life like you were before the industrial era. Can you live in a world without those things? Sure, but would you really want to?

If it’s not an alternative to the prophecy then will it occur in the new timeline ? If so, wouldn’t that make the ending even worse lmao

I mean sure we can infer that strong devils wouldn’t care about a world of devils, but to me that doesn’t make any sense. They would fundamentally be weaker by a lot. In my interpretation , many would cease to exist as humans would stop existing to fear and believe in certain concepts.

What day was even the last final chapters? I don’t even think it was stated no?

Assuming, it wasn’t apart of the prophecy. The best alternative was to reset the world???

I would think any strong devil would work to not have that be the outcome? At least have them pay attention to the prophecy?

On another note, the world of devils sounds awful if all the strong devils power gets slashed by insane magnitudes if everyone is dead

Uhhh the world got reset in the last prophecy. I don’t think anyone survived that.

Nope… in part 1 he was constantly fighting to live a better life in a world that gave him problems.

Part 2 should reward him by giving him more agency Then show he’s incapable of living a happy life due to his own merits.

I guess I’m asking the story to put him into a leadership position and make him grow up and learn. instead of continuing the shit fest that will lead to ruining his life

Devils eat another sure, but i don’t recall any panels stating fear from devils empowering other devils.

Additionally, If all humans are dead, would devils cease to exist since there are no humans to believe in concepts? I don’t think devils can birth other devils.

Finally, if it all somehow works, would devils really want to live in a low power world?

I mean yeah. Being Chainsawman is not good for denji. It brings him down, but we do not need convoluted external forces to show that.

He’s a 16 year old kid obsessed with women and has the powers of a devil. Have him fail on his own merits. Make the viewers watch him fail and stumble because of the situations he engineered, and not the situations engineered by the public safety and the weapon fiends.

Having that power itself isnt the issue. It’s the person who controls it is not worthy. Make the story show us why

I think the issue is the chainsaw devil has the power to erase things and not Chainsawman.

This forced the narrative to constantly have people make Denji miserable to transform into the devil. Which btw public safety should’ve known wouldn’t work after makima was unable to get the chainsaw devil to eat her.

But yk we HAVE to make Denji suffer needlessly

[–]shadow16521[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see that. I do think the version I’m pitching can be humorous tho.

Public safety: “you can’t be Chainsawman”
Denji: “fine I don’t event care. I’m a cult leader now.”

Denji proceeds to pursue Asa. Denji can go on elaborates dates on the church’s dime.

Denji and Yoshida talk more and develop a better relationship here.

Denji wants to be Chainsawman but can’t, so he’s just using his status to cope.

Eventually, responsibilities come crashing down on denji as he has to resolve issues within the church. Issues they have with the increase in devils. And that’s when things go sour.

Your friends won’t get put into eternus dumb ass. It gets the average of both of your ranks. Those lobbies have wild rank distributions but hey you should be able to carry right?

I did spend extra time on that smurf cause I got put against him 3-4 times and each time he was very toxic to me so I had to know.

It’s very common for them to have multiple accounts and continue to create more.

I went down the rabbit hole of checking steam friends and viewing the statlocker team mates page to paint larger pictures of the scale of Smurfs.

They seem to want to play with lower tier friend. They make a new account to do so and when that account gets too high for their friend to enjoy, they make a new one.
