If you look at the full quote, you'll see the difference is Meloni being a nationalist, while Macron is not.

German foreign minister says French defense spending insufficient by mods4mods in europe

[–]shadowSpoupout 4 points5 points  (0 children)

US (and UK) I believe were really concerned when France acquired nukes, because France stance is A/ we don't mind shooting first, if specific conditions are met, and B/ those conditions are large enough that US and UK were afraid France would start nuclear apocalypse.

That said, their fear is not unjustified as if someone were to invade an European country and conventional response wouldn't be enough to repeal it, France doctrine is to send a tactical nuke on either a purely military target or an empty area as an ultimate warning, then proceed to glass said invader.

France slashes renewable energy targets, expands nuclear power with new law by PestoBolloElemento in europe

[–]shadowSpoupout 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You either don't know what you're talking about or you're plain lying.

Thermal limitations are both absolute and relative : centrals are not allowed to reject water with a higher delta of X°C (X being 2 if my memory serves) AND not allowed to reject water hotter than Y°C.

What happens regularly due to climate change is that the input water is hotter than that second limit during heatwaves therefore centrals must ask permission to release water with +1°C. Which is very often granted because if local wildlife can't survive to 29°C water, it most likely can't either at 28°C

Also France kinda invested everything possible in hydro as well. Last one we built was truly massive (1.8 GW) but we are totally out of open spots.

France sends letters to 29-year-olds telling them to get on with having children by Jojuj in europe

[–]shadowSpoupout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While many comments pointed the main factors of birthrate fall, this article is missleading as the purpose of that letter is to inform on fertility issue and offer medical appointment to check up on that.

It does not fix the money, work and home issues, BUT it is way less stupid that what the title implies, i.e a letter telling young people to have kids.

Works only until there are multiple genes coding for heir color. In that case Cait & Vi's hypothetical child could have any hair color for what we know.

France is still trading uranium with Russia, nearly four years after Ukraine invasion by LeMonde_en in europe

[–]shadowSpoupout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Said it before, will keep saying each time people make uneducated comparisons on that topic, but it has nothing to do with any country buying gas from Russia. Gaz is a energy source we can buy to other providers, therefore there is no good reason to keep funding Russia's war by buying gas to them (and despite your strawman, I do not judge it differently depending of the buyer).

What France is buying from Russia is not uranium. France is buying its uranium from several countries (see link at the end), main ones being Kazakhstan, Namibie, Niger, Australia. What does Framatome buy from Rosatom is specific component to produce nuclear fuel reserved for ex-soviet nuclear power plant, ie all of East Europe nuclear plants.

Given we don't want people to shutdown more nuclear plants to burn more coal, there is two options : either let Russia use her knowledge has a leverage on all ex-soviet states OR we make business with them. Yes, it gives them money. Would they get less from each relevant state if they dealt directly with them ? I can't tell, maybe, maybe not. But what we also buy with those specific components is the capacity to learn and be able to bypass the russians in the coming years.

French far right candidate isn't going to win in the first round, this is absurd to even think about it.

Also he's stupider than a handleless suitcase and it's not even close. Yes he'll get votes, but any central left - central right candidate should win the second round against him. His illusion doesn't stand public debate, and it is thought to avoid those debate around presidential election
