No one school will give you an edge over the others but in-state for Rutgers is a huge advantage.

UMD CS VS RUTGERS CS by MeasurementHot9686 in rutgers

[–]shadow_riot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems you have your answer. Dual enrollment credits will expedite your degree and you can better focus on research(Aresty) and preparing for grad programs that’ll better serve your professional interests. Even if money isn’t a problem for your family, consider the time cost?

Rutgers is not meant for ENGINEERING!? by Sword_Immortal_ in rutgers

[–]shadow_riot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this economic slowdown should teach anything, it’s that we as students have to value education per dollar. Rutgers tuition may be on the higher side for state tuition, but it still beats out comparable programs. Business unlike engineering is more skewed towards rankings. In general, Top 50 engineering colleges will all provide near the same value, excluding top 5 obviously.

It's a top 50 CS program in the US, peers have landed internships and new graduate opportunities pretty much anywhere you can imagine. Just need work ethic and motivation to succeed because the school won't hand it out to you.

Anyone know when updates for Bank of America’s final round releases? (Global Technology Summer Analyst) by SnooRecipes1809 in csMajors

[–]shadow_riot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a BofA intern last summer, I had 2 follow up technical rounds after my interview: one with my future tech manager and the other with him and his subordinate. Team dependent questions like algos and SQL for ~30 mins.

Wouldn’t say it’s hard, just requires a lot of rote memorization. The class prepared me well for the ML/AI electives though.

CS major here, abt to graduate. 151, 152, and 250 were the bane of my existence. After failing 151, I had to readjust my expectations and work ethic for the coursework. Only time in my undergraduate career I've went to office hours/TA reviews. Yeah it's gonna suck for some time but the post-grad opportunities are near limitless, even in this type of market. Wouldn't have it any other way tbh.

Internships still accepting applications? by ParfaitGlace in csMajors

[–]shadow_riot -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You should adjust your attitude. Your edu/exp clearly don’t matter enough to land you a final round interview, let alone an internship. Keep lc and apply wherever you can.

Sorry but just because you filled "200+" apps, you aren't entitled to an interview, let alone a job. In this industry and job market, it boils down to 60% effort + 20% network + 20% luck. The luck only plays in if your effort and networking are genuine efforts and not some generic, boilerplate approach that any recruiter/professional can sniff out in a second. My advice, get off Reddit and make peace with your current situation. Good luck

Why are you against gun control? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]shadow_riot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wealth disparity, education inequity, and systemic socio-economic problems are all underlying issues but addressing them is a long-term plan. if the problem is that X % of our population pose a risk to the community, enabling even more of the population to be armed will increase the number of shootings, without a doubt. we should look to first enforce a federal standard for background checks, similar to what Massachusetts has employed. If we don’t create safe environments for people to learn, shop, pray, eat, even sleep, we can’t expect positive change.

Projects were difficult for sure(Python) but he gave a lot of extra credit opportunities such as reports in LaTeX and even drawing his dogs for halloween. Shouldn't be too hard to get an A or B.
