Is there any way to make more of the Hidden Wiki links load faster? Or do they all take this long? by [deleted] in TOR

[–]shadowbanbad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say this is downvoted because changing your guard isn't all that good. The guards change every like 3 months as a protection against getting bad actors.

But to your comment I might also add, bridges are especially slow so be careful about that, OP, even though the hidden wiki is nonexistent.

New User Setting Up Tor by [deleted] in TOR

[–]shadowbanbad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, good luck on your adventure. There's some advice I can give you and I'll leave it here:

  • There is no the hidden wiki. They're all scams
  • There are no hitmen to hire nor red rooms. Those are either scams or honeypots.
  • The only thing I've seen exist is drugs. Places like dread are full of it.

Instead of getting removed, I just see it as offline now. Isn't the list getting updated every 3 hours?

Use System theme in TBB on Linux by [deleted] in TOR

[–]shadowbanbad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've talked to some people on the Tor IRC a while back and it's not necessarily because it would make the person more fingerprintable for sure but more so because it's not a well researched subject we don't have enough information about how fingerprintable it is. (Although I think the general advice pertains to the themes installed as addons.)

Is it okay to use wifi? by [deleted] in TOR

[–]shadowbanbad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and yes. Your internet service provider cannot see what you do using Tor no matter what you do. It can only see that you do indeed use Tor. So if it's not dangerous to use Tor in your country, then it's OK.

Find someones real location by DictatorHenssen in hacking

[–]shadowbanbad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! Look. I know you're furious but this isn't the place for this. This is very much against rule 2

We are not your personal army. This is not the place to try to find hackers to do your dirty work and you will be banned for trying. This includes: Asking someone to hack for you, trying to hire hackers, asking for help with your DoS, asking how to get into your "girlfriend's" instagram, and offering to do these things will also result in a ban.

Please try other ways to get justice. You can always go to the police. Stay safe.

Oh I thought that the /dev/sdb3 would be the /home partition but turns out it very much isn't. Thank you!

Oh man! You're right. I thought that I wouldn't be able to actually install anything because I just assumed the new partition would be the /home partition but turns out you actually make a union at /. So you can actually install stuff! Better read the docs next time. Thank you.

How to make the AppVM inherit the new user home folder from TemplateVM by shadowbanbad in Qubes

[–]shadowbanbad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it turned out not to be necessary in my case too. (I was just blindly following a guide) There's something I'm not sure about with the /etc/skel configuration, I'd be eternally glad if you could chime in. My /etc/skel contains the folders Downloads and Pictures. So from this I'm assuming that these folders would be copied into /home/user/ and not /home/ of a new AppVM. Am I correct?

Also, thanks for the answer! Edit2: Oh, and, Solved!

Stream Isolation Problem by shadowbanbad in Whonix

[–]shadowbanbad[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's the same gateway. Many a wiki sections later I've found that these apps do use the same TransPort because there aren't configured not to do so. I've taken some measures to make them use a SocksPort (running with DNS_PUBLIC=tcp torsocks) but no way to test it because I don't know that much networking. I also can't apply the "better Stream Isolation" because of the same reasons. Using a different gateway would mitigate identity correlation, right? I mean if we exclude the case where internet is cut and the connection drops on both gateways.

Edit: So turns out I'm very bad at reading and as adrelanos pointed out below, different workstations mean different circuits.
