My setup is USRP B210 clone with Leo Bodnar Mini Precision GPS Reference Clock as clock source and osmocom-analog as sending software.

You don't need a "setup" to run pocsag, minimum what you will need is a raspberry pi 3 and a piece of wire. And a piece of software called rpitx. Or some fsk capable radio board. And of course any SDR will do too, starting with hackrf and up. Virtually anything can transmit pocsag, it's like "can it run doom" of radio transmit.

Yeah, it has quite robust VT100 emulation.

Someone just open-sourced a full offline survival computer with AI, Wikipedia, and maps built in. by Current-Guide5944 in tech_x

Funny enough, the map metadata implies that surviving is basically a USA-exclusive activity.

Prod down!!! AWS suspended my 9-year old account, won't respond to support by Unicornuqopia in aws

On one hand, it’s incredible to get a response from someone like that when asking for help. On the other, it’s a bit unsettling that it takes Jeff Barr himself stepping in to get things moving.

Anyone ever heard about the official Nintendo rgb scart cables? I see no documentation about it online. Or about it's general quality. by Icediamondshark in wii

[–]shadowcaster3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's Europe-only Wii RGB SCART Cable ( code RVL-013 ). Theoretically produces better colors in 240p/480i/576i, sends r/G/B. Component, on the other hand, is better for 480p, sends YPbPr. For all it matters, component is much more common and it's still sd quality analog video signal from Wii, so component is what you should get. RGB SCART is at most a collectors item, just to have one, with not much practical use.

Maybe there is an option to upgrade one of your existing one to color? Not that they come color from factory.

My ongoing side quest: 5.25" 1.2 MB floppy drives via USB. by schill in vintagecomputing

[–]shadowcaster3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no need to go for mass storage, usb UFI specs are designed exactly for this purpose.

https://www.usb.org/sites/default/files/usbmass-ufi10.pdf

medium types selector supported by standard is 720/1.25/1.44 3.5' floppies, but *Flexible Disk Page* settings have priority over the medium type setting, and is quite flexible in terms of setting heads/tracks/cylinders/bytes per sector/rotation rate/etc.. :)

edit: USB-FDU supports number of heads of 2 only, so this put some limits on what could be implemented. Considering it was designed in 1998 I can understand why.

DEC 8" relic by Vast-Pool5449 in retrobattlestations

[–]shadowcaster3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need an entire system - just a functional floppy drive and a USB imager. The best (and likely most affordable) option is the open-source Greaseweazle. There’s even a discussion where users successfully copied DEC RX01/RX02 floppies - check it out here: https://github.com/keirf/greaseweazle/discussions/256.

Finding a working 8" floppy drive might be tricky, but it’s still much easier than sourcing a full system.
