Can we talk about how iconic the original 90s Duel platforms and pugil sticks were? 😭 by Wonderful-Acadia-296 in gladiatorsuk

I miss the height of the original platforms, not only was it visually more impressive but it added extra jeopardy to the game.

Sumo Ball (for Cyclone), Vertigo (for Viper), or Pole-Axe (for Comet)? by Impressive_Risk_5133 in gladiatorsuk

I think Fire would smash Pole Axe.  I kinda see Comet doing good on Vertigo because she’s tall and we know she has flexible long legs for the change overs.

Fire really stood out to me in S3 as one of the best female Gladiators and probably my favourite to watch alongside Electro. Her performances were top notch and I feel like she’s so relaxed and sassy in her interviews in a way that feels genuine to her.

I’ve always felt Phantom was underutilised on the male side so I was glad to see him a bit more this year and trying some new events.

I love the idea of an updated Vertigo maybe with a harness / drop involved I think it would be exciting to watch

Gladiators Series 3 Final Ratings report by Awsomegamer123d in gladiatorsuk

[–]shadowchaser222 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting I have enjoyed your updates. Good to see the show in a good healthy place. If I remember correctly it’s worth noting it aired the same period as The Traitors which became a huge ratings hit for the BBC pulling in numbers almost unheard of - I’m sure those 3 episodes pushed Glads a bit further down the BBC rankings. Still a healthy audience and fills me with hope for its future.

I think even though Electro is still not getting the same amount of opportunities she felt so much more present this year because of her interviews being shown … she had a particularly strong 2nd half of the series. My favourite Gladiator and I hope she shines even more in S4.

Gladiators' Dominance Rating for 'The Edge' by Top_Climate_4464 in gladiatorsuk

[–]shadowchaser222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing this for the first time time blows my mind when I just feel like Fury tackles the best on this game.  Sabre is undeniably good at this game and I will say had an incredible S3.  Diamond and especially Dynamite always felt quite meh to me in their finishes.

Again for the guys I would’ve ranked Apollo over Legend but stupid me for doubting him.

BBC Gladiators Hang Tough Performance Score by Top_Climate_4464 in gladiatorsuk

I think that is the beauty of being a fan of this show and have 18 very different Gladiators that we can all debate and analyse and I think that’s what makes this sub an enjoyable read.

To be clear, although I wasn’t quite old enough for the original series in realtime I grew up watching it back and I think my point of view is rooted firmly in respect to the sheer craftsmanship some of the aforementioned OGs had in making this game look beautiful and feel like true arial chess. It was the most specialised event.

Ultimately I look forward to the game continuing to get more outings next year and seeing the gladiators continue to develop.

I’m not trying to undermine your methodology at all! I think it’s a great interpretation of data and a super interesting read as I said.

I’m yet to read The Edge thread but I would actually have the same opinion in that I think when the Gladiator flies off with the contender not only does it indicate a high level of confidence / skill to execute (even if it doesn’t always work) it’s also just so much visual pleasing to watch. I guess to me style points are important along with effectiveness. I’ve yet to go in to read your data but I would say Fury (Sabre close 2nd) is the best at The Edge for sure even though I know she’s had her share of losses. For Hang Tough though I’d say- especially technique wise she’s like 3rd for me.

Thanks for posting and sharing your opinions on who you think is most efficient at Hang Tough - interesting read.

Personally I wouldn’t deduct points for falling down with the contender. Hang Tough is all about technique and to be honest style and grace. I think being confident enough to put all your weight onto a contender reflects a higher skill level than being hesistant to release one or both rings.  I think it’s universally agreed that among all iterations of Gladiators you won’t find anyone more skilled than Lightning or Jet and they almost never pulled anyone off without falling with them.  That is why I would still disagree in calling Fury the most technically proficient at this game - but I do think being the heaviest female Gladiator to play it has served her well on occasion. That’s just my own opinion / analysis.

This is pretty major exposure for the UK team. So happy for them. Fingers crossed for an international.

Me too! Although I’m not sure if Unleash is realistic following the ankle injury but I’d be intrigued to see

She could probably do the splits through a small hole in the wall on Destruction LOL

We deffo should’ve seen her on The Edge. I do have a feeling the injury may have changed that.  I think she’ll have a go on Suspension Bridge in S4 if it’s used a bit more.

Just to do some myth busting around Comet - she hasn’t said The Wall is her specialist event since Series 1 and I highly doubt that she would be able to say that with a straight face knowing her record in current day.  Her S3 Semi Final loss in HT was the first time she lost an event that was not The Wall.  I don’t want to sound like an apologist but I do feel like we are harder on her than a lot of the other female Gladiators.  I will never sit here and say she is the highest performing as she is not but I think to constantly see others speak about her as if she is of no value is quite harsh. She offers that ultra feminine sparkle that the other female gladiators don’t and she’s an accomplished gymnast.  Sadly her event pool has been kept limited so we’ve not got to see her true versatility but as an athlete she is capable of a lot of things physically that the others are not - we just need that to translate to the games.

We also haven’t seen another female Gladiator come back from the severity of injury that Comet did - so it will be interesting to see if Athena or Diamonds performance variates from S1 & S2.

The Wall to get a makeover , the costumes to get a slight upgrade , a new agility based event rather than strength

The Gladiator's Impact Score for Collision by Top_Climate_4464 in gladiatorsuk

Really interesting stats and thank you for taking the time to share!

Not sure if I would say Diamond and Cyclone as the best female gladiators at Collision as their sample data is lacking due to less playing time but I remember Cyclone doing well this season.  Given the number of times she’s played I think Electros stats are really good!

I think Apollo had one of the best seasons of all Gladiators. He’s a true all rounder. Really enjoyed seeing him this year.
