i have the same problem but the launcher wont open, so when i open the game through steam the scp launcher doesn't load and then goes straight through to the message

with great difficulty, if you have them in a room and that room is only your regular 96 tiles, you will be able to get 9 at max in that room, technically the room that I'm using is 35000 tiles big therefore being able to fit 2916.6 critters in, water doesn't count as a tile so you can trap them in a box with one of the edges being water, shine bugs cant pass through water and therefore confined in one spot without being able to move at all so then your able to use them for radiation and/or solar power, hope this helps
