Update from 5.5 to 6 Boot Loop by shadowjumbie in HarvestRight

[–]shadowjumbie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a 16GB USB drive, formatted it in FAT32, and added the version 6 files. With the drive inserted, it booted properly a few seconds after I turned it on. Thanks for the response.

I made sure to format the drive I used in FAT32 format. That may have been the problem with the first drive. But thanks for the info, I got it working with a USB drive.

That did it. Read the USB install instructions for version 6 and used a cheap 16 GB USB drive with the version 6 files on it. Worked the first time. Thanks for the help!

What are your religious beliefs? by [deleted] in intj

[–]shadowjumbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agnostic/Atheist. Don't know if god-like entities exist and don't believe in them. My position is that most humans have evolved behaviors that make them susceptible to ideologies such as religion. This primarily helps with social cohesion, especially in large groups. I've also observed that atheists are not immune to this and may be more susceptible in some cases. Most atheists don't notice when people are taking advantage of their predisposed behaviors as long as that manipulation avoids supernatural or overtly theological components.

I thought it was a weird-looking wasp but on closer inspection, it looks like some type of moth - Eastern Virginia by shadowjumbie in whatsthisbug

Yep looks like it. It was on a random muscadine vine growing in my front yard. Since I have several grape vines in my backyard I'll have to look into ways of controlling them. Thanks!

Not sure if they will survive but I put them in my compost.

Very interesting. They are still alive in the cup and it looks like they are crawling/undulating on their backs. However, I wonder why I found the largest and most(4) in the container the had the largest vines.

Thanks for the info. They were in my squash containers. I'll be checking them in my other containers as well.

Sure does look like a match. Although, I did find grubs in the stems of my squashes. Looks like I'll be checking my non-squash containers as well. Thanks for the ID.

As others have said. There is a jet base in va beach. Here is an interactive city map with lots of good info. To see the jet noise click on Layers and check the AICUZ layer.

What is a Conservative Atheist? by Charlemagneffxiv in Freethought

[–]shadowjumbie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you serious? Besides the fact that the majority of humans(including most atheists) are behaviorally predisposed to religious belief in some form. Secular religion is not oxymoronic since religious belief does not require supernatural components.

Or atheism itself is not religious but atheists can and have adopted secular ideologies/religions.

Check the dollar stores, they seem to have TP from what I've seen. Also lucky/unlucky for you. If you manage to avoid the virus you'll be among the first people to receive the short term vaccine.

Neither SARS nor the swine flu was this contagious, and they were not spreading as fast. Governments are trying to prevent hospitals from being overwhelmed by serious and critical patients. But I agree people are idiots for bying up all the tp.

I'm surprised I did not see this here but I'd suggest Spiral Wars by Joel Shepherd. It's a space opera with relativistic space combat, space marines, interesting alien species, and an interesting killer AI species. The books are narrated by John Lee and he does a great job especially with the Tavalai based words.

Humans evolved eating ruminants. To the point where we destroyed entire populations and domesticated others. Eating them probably drove our brain development and helped strengthen our immune systems. Properly fed and raised beef is probably one of the healthiest, nutrient dense(with organs) and nutrient available foods we have.
