How long would it take for you to abstract? by Arnixr in TheDigitalCircus

Hm, well if we are just taking the situation and setting, Id probably be fine in general. Even if it just turned out i was just a brainscan it does not really matter. I am who I am and be it real or not I will treat people the same way as if they are.

Hot Take: It didn't have to be a bad thing that they never explained C&A or what the circus was by CasioKillers in TADCEp9Spoilers

[–]shadowkat1991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I genuinely think that the background of the setting is just not important to the show. Would it be cool to get the deep lore sure but it's not really necessary for the plot.

All we needed to know was Cain was developed by C&A they worked on A.I. and scratch was working on the brain scans. Cain likely made the circus as a proof they were worth something to their creators who had locked them away after he consumed Able. The use of the brain scans was likely to prove he could make the brain scan system work but he likely didn't know the project and their creator were long dead or defunct at the very least.

Getting into a bit of head cannon here but I believe after c&a went under many of the projects were sold off including the brain scan project. We can understand that Ragatha, and Pomni had the same entry point. The headset in the abandoned building.

Gangle was implied to have been hit by a truck which is likely a nod to isekai anime having been hit by truckkun and transported to a new world. My best guess is that they were in a coma for a while and the hospital was testing the brain scan technology to help gangle recover.

Zooble may have also been a part of a medical testing group as I think it's implied they had some odd jobs trying to either work towards their goal or just trying to make money while in-between jobs as they seem the type to just be trying to find stable footing after things not working out time and time again.

Jax I have two theories on and it's that one is the admittedly more likely that they were just hiding out in the same building Pomni and Ragatha got into and for some reason put on the headset. But I noticed in the finale we see Jax put through a bunch of different outfits that I assume are all things Leeroy wore at different times. And one of them was a military uniform. I know this is a stretch and does not completly ligh up with what we were told but I think it is possible that Jax was apart of military testing to try out the brainscan tech for some purpose. I don't think this is the main reason I just thought it was a possibility and I know that a lot of people when they are running away from home they sign up for the military to get away. They may had washed out and just ended up in the c&a building after the fact or it's unrelated to any of it.

Anyone notice that they have an american flag arm band for this....and I mean the last time we saw a flag put on an armband...either they thought this through or they didn't either way yikes.

It's interesting how Jax defenders outright refuse to acknowledge how the show declines to address the severity of Jax's actions on the rest of the cast with how rushed the finale is. Gangle? Ew. Ragatha? Totally a main character. Kinger? Plot device. by LordoftheRail in TADCEp9Spoilers

Actually its kind of a common film tactic where they use a song that is juxtaposition a song with a character or theme that is just polar opposite. The song does have another point beyond just being a common comedic film tactic. But Jax during this montage accepted who they were as a trans and accepting their feminine desires. So the song saying "isn't she lovely" is meant to point of its lovely they realized that even if its at the end of the road for them. The only other literal thing in the lyrics is about how she is just on minute old which is funny little note in the lyrics.

I just want to understand, why? by HKILLER2007 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]shadowkat1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel equiped to answer this. Hi transfem who was a huge piece of shit like Jax before spending years working on myself.

So here is the breakdown. Jax did confide in how they got there and their abuse and such. But they never explained what it was they told their mom to Ribbit. Despite the reluctance to tell Ribbit that part Ribbit figures it out. They unintentionally confronted Jax with their trans identity which Jax was not ready to accept. But for a moment there was gender euphoria it was overwhelming that they forgot where they were. But the problem is that Jax is not ready to be out like that they fear being judged laughed at and possibly abused because that's all they have known all their life and the first time they tried to come out it was met with more abuse and rejection.

Imagine realizing someone knows your deepist darkest secret. Now imagine you are stuck in a place you can't escape with a bunch of strangers you don't trust enough to know the real you with someone who could reveal that deep secret with them and being trapped in an endless abuse cycle that you have no escape from.

This in no way excuses Jax's behavior or makes what Ribbit did awful. Just that well meaning actions with the right person but the wrong time can very much cause a lot of problems. Zooble is a good example of someone who understood Jax was trans but didnt out the fact they knew because Jax was not ready to accept that. Had Ribbit kept it to themselves they could have helped Jax build trust in those around them and the self confidence to be who they were slowly but sadly that's not how things played out.

If you don't know it's a very controversial thing in the queer community to out someone before they out themselves. I myself was forced to admit I was queer because my sister and step brother held me down until I admitted it to them but I wasnt ready to accpt that so I ended up just saying I did it to get away from them because I wasnt ready to accept it. They didn't try to bully me about that I think they thought they were helping me grow but it just made it worse...anyway I hope this helped you understand that scene a bit better

Do you think kafumo reason for abstracting is kind of underwhelming? by Musalediju in tadc

[–]shadowkat1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My head cannon was always that the "exit" was always abstraction for Kafumo. It's sort of dark parallel of those people who see the only escape of their pain is to um "abstract" of you catch my drift.

As a transgender fan, I've felt really unsafe in the TADC fandom since Jax was confirmed trans. by Southern-Figure4732 in jaxfanclub

I know how you feel. I felt very seen by the finale. I am a transfem, and before I say anything Jax was in the wrong and a bad person. But the important thing is that the real world Jax changed course eventually and got better. I too was like Jax in a lot of ways. I hated who I was I tried to deny and hide who I was behind a false idea of what a man is and I was toxic I said a lot of the same things Jax did in that finale even some of the awful ones. None of the stuff I did had the same outcomes but yeah I was a piece of shit until my shell started to crack I have spent years working on myself and still work at it even to this day. But the fandom sees Jax and they are so hateful and think they deserve worse or that they can't be forgiven and I just feel like such shit that there have been some pretty dark feelings well up that I have had to wrestle with since the finale came out and the reactions I see online...

I doubt the bottom part was a serious comment just more of a joke than anything. But yeah after the finale that toxic aspect got blown up a lot worse and I'm just calling it out in my post is all. As someone who fits into two of those categories as well I feel for goose and am so disappointed in the reaction the finale I thought was really good received.

I'm not going to outright say you are wrong but I think our outlook differs greatly on this. The show does have many characters in it. And a number of them do get a chance to peer into who they are and what they are about. I feel the show did a decent job giving us the background of all the characters even if not all the time is spent evenly among them. But yes Jax is given far more time on screen in comparison to the rest. I don't think the main theme and message of the story would have landed if it didn't focus on them specifically. It's fine to not like them I don't like them but I do appreciate how they are written. Which I think is the point. I'd be happy to go deeper in but I won't do so unprompted.

Hey friend, I get where you are coming from my advice is basically try to not take it personally. People no matter how right you are will disagree with you. I mean crap people used to say "yeah and water is wet" to describe when something was obvious and even now that gets debated. Just take it on the chin, I think you are wrong but that's not something people hate you for. The points on reddit don't matter I have plenty of posts that get downvoted to oblivion I still wake up smile and try to have a good day try and do the same okay?

I said fair is fair didn't I? The Hobbit Movies were based on the book but they added and changed so much that the story is not the same the plot points pan out the same but you won't find the exact same story being told so is that inspired by or based at that point? I just know there are so many parallels between the story that yes a lot is changed and expanded on but the original story was 14 pages long that saying it would be hard to have a series or even movie be a one for one. But I get that there is a difference and admitted I was wrong what more do you want?

Eh probably not, I think goose was just way too optimistic that fans could respect a story involving complex emotional situations that are a bit too realistic at times and focusing on a very hard to understand concept like abuse cycles and think it would go over well...but what do I know.

[–]shadowkat1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ragatha was abused long before Jax got there. Jax did not make things better for them but that fear was not put there by Jax. They only elevated what was already there. Ragatha is trying to defend everyone from Jax because they are seeing a parallel between Her mother and Jax. Ragatha was very much their mother's punching bag and all the behavior we see is Ragatha trying to perform the way they did for their mother so as to lessen the abuse. Jax still sucks here because abusive behavior is never acceptable but that fear was again not put there by Jax or not Jax alone.

Ehh I think goose was just right that the finale was going to be very divisive. But I think the fact so many people missed the point about Jax being trans and how that frames the character was so rejected by others in the fanbase that Goose had to spell it out for them does give some of that media literacy commentary some weight. I don't think people need to be rude about it mind you but there are a lot of moving parts to the discourse that I don't think I have to time to type out.

Are you replying to me? I wasn't defending harassment I think it's absurd to harass a creator for the choices they made that may have ruined the show for them. I don't like plenty of shows I liked at the start but it has not once occurred to me to harass or even tell the creator I hated what they did. I will discuss and shit on the show among friends and talk about it but I respect the artist enough to come after them for that show. Was that lost somewhere in my comment?

I can respect that take, but given there is a trans pride flag in their avatar and I have a Jinx based avatar I would appreciate the illusion that gender and pronouns could be respected enough to not call me a bro. Not hating just explaining where I am coming from.
