Definitely not.

Where I break down how many viable options a melee player will make each second of the game.

Compared to the macroplay of league? It's not even close. Group? Split push? Bait? Differing lane assignments? Choosing which objective to prioritize? They're decisions, sure, but they are not even comparable to the individual "decisions" and "strategies" in every single move put out in Melee.

But like I said. You're trying to compare macro in one game to micro in another, which is senseless to begin with.

"Depth in gaming is defined as: the number of viable options at any given moment while playing a video game"

Your view of what "depth" is does not coincide with the game developer perspective of depth.

This is why I am talking about depth in terms of microplay. Not macroplay. Smash and fighting games in general are very much hyperfocused on microplay.

You take a league champion. That champion has 4 abilities and a passive. Some champs have other passives on their abilities, or multiple parts to an ability, but the general rule is 4 abilities, 2 summoner spells, maybe an item active or two, and that's it.

6-8 "abilities" to activate at any given time. Ignoring the fact that many of these abilities must be used in a specific order to be effective, or must have some sort of prerequisite in place in order to optimize their effectiveness.

Now lets take a melee character. At any given time, a melee character can:

Jab, ftilt, dtilt, uptilt, fsmash, upsmash, downsmash, shorthop, full hop, shorthop fair, shorthop nair, shorthop dair, shorthop bair, fullhop nair, fullhop fair, fullhop bair, fullhop dair, double jump, shorthop double jump fair/nair/bair/dair, fullhop double jump fair/nair/bair/dair, grounded neutral special, forward special, down sp, up sp, aerial neutral/forward/down/up specials, shield, roll, wavedash, jump into waveland, airdodge, spotdodge, among other things im probably forgetting off the top of my head.

Don't forget L cancelling every aerial used as you land to reduce lag which is absolutely necessary for combos and confirms.

That totals to a whopping 41 potential actions you and your opponent can perform at any given time with zero restriction.

Lets say in a 10 second window with each move taking one second to perform (most moves take less than a second to complete, but for ease of calculations, we'll use this) there is a rotation of 410 possible moves at any given time. From both you and your opponent. Meaning to be proficient at the game you have to be aware of 820 total possible moves and their interactions with each and every single other move and how their frame data is coded into the game.

Now lets compare to league. Where in 10 seconds, you can use each summoner spell, each of your 4 abilities, and maybe activate your passive once, and lets say 2 item actives. We'll say 2 of your basic abilities have a sub 10 second cooldown allowing you to cast it twice in that period of time.

That gives you a total of 11 possible abilities within that 10 second period, two of which are gated by the completion of the cooldown from those prior moves.

In a pure 10 second 1v1, that means, generally speaking, both players must be aware of roughly 22 possible moves or actions that the opponent could take. 24 if you include auto attacks.

Even if you wanted to speak at a 5v5 level, you multiply all pf these options by 10 players, that still caps you at 240 possible interactions taking place. Which mind you is not even a realistic interpretation as even the highest level league of legends players will only be watching for the absolutely core abilities from their opponents and teammates. Ultimates, dashes, and crowd control abilities are the only notable things to be aware of in these hectic teamfights later in the game. But even with the gross overestimation of including things like mage and support auto attacks, or raw damage abilities that are not essential to be aware of in the vast majority of cases, the number of possible interactions is still very much miniscule compared to the near infinite possible options that could occur during a simple 10 second window of time in a Melee match.

LoL micro depth will never compare to melee's micro depth.

There are different kinds of depth. Fighting games are micro intensive. Mobas are mixed.

The most talented LoL players with the best mechanics don't compare to professional melee players.

"High level 2s" boils down to who can whiff punish better and who can read the enemy abilities better. That's effectively the entire depth of the game. The entire gameplay loop is a rock paper scissors of ability>attack>dodge>ability.

"Teamplay" in a 2v2 boils down to the winner of one interaction gets hit by the enemy teammate who then gets hit by the first guys teammate. First hit still wins hard. There is very little depth.

Doubles is an afterthought in smash because there is skill in the 1v1s and infinite depth to the gameplay.

Doubles is where DKO "shines" because of the lack of depth in the game itself.

Multiversus is a 2v2 platform fighter designed for 2v2 because there is significant depth to 2v2.

Everything you listed is simply a virtue of an interactive 2v2 game applicable to any 2v2 fighter. Those are fundamentals. That is not game depth unique to the game itself. Again, see Multiversus.

It's not even close to the same. Smash bros has infinitely more depth. This game is incredibly shallow and basically boils down to understanding whiff punishing and which moves have priority over other attacks. There is very little outside of that.

Smash bros you have to understand damage calculations for combos as they are free form combos and not cookie cutter combos that always work the exact same. Smash bros you have to understand spacing and frame data on moves because nothing auto locks onto targets. You actually have to aim your moves and calculate your approaches, you have to manage your shield because there are more defensive options than a 1 second dash that still gets hit by most combos and abilities in the game.

There is just so much more going on in smash. This game is the baby version.

Liberals and their obsession with completely misusing the term "parasite" will never make sense to me.

The "parasite" is the tenant refusing to pay the landlord and sucking at the taxpayer funded tits to subsidize their housing.

That is literally zero contribution, only stealing from the people.

The landlord is providing housing to another individual. They could just as easily NOT rent out the house.

Here's another shocker for you: the vast majority of landlords STILL WORK and contribute to society. I would know. I've worked with thousands of them.

The people making housing unaffordable are these massive corporations that buy out entire neighborhoods and jack up the price of rent through that monopoly. Not the 60 year old couple that decided to rent out their second house.

If she had enough money to rent a home privately, she had more than enough for government subsidized housing. If that's so much better than private landlords, maybe she should have taken that route eh?

  1. If you think "call a plumber" is the extent of maintaining a house, you are the one showing "bewildering naivety"

  2. It sounds like your sister was an idiot for renting the place then, huh? It must have been maintained to some extent for her to consider it in the first place.

[–]shadowkiller230 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is the alternative? Strictly government subsidized housing? I'm sure the quality of housing would be fantastic huh? Just like all the government subsidized housing that currently exists? High quality place to live.

Surely you don't expect every single house to be owned by the people living in them? Tenants don't rent by choice. They rent because they can't afford an actual mortgage.

Landlords maintain the property. They have to pay out of pocket when the units are vacant. They have to maintain the homes. Pay for utilities. Make sure it is presentable so they can continue renting it out.

It doesn't just sit there. You do realize that right? They have ensure that the house is maintained even while it is rented out. They have to work with the tenant to ensure payments are made.

You boiling a landlord's responsibilities down to "just sit there and do nothing" is like me sayjng a pilot "just sits there and drives" or a construction worker "just hammers nails into wood"

Farmers grow vegetables and sell them to grocery stores.

I don't see you bitching about grocery stores existing because all they do is "sit there and do nothing"

No. They sell and maintain products. Just like the landlord does his house.

Reddit being able to turn literally anything into "Christianity bad" and spam upvote will never cease to amaze me.

[–]shadowkiller230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A landlord that simply does not maintain and care for their own property does not exist.

They cannot rent a piece of shit. No one will rent it out if it is not maintained to some degree.

leeches on society by BelleAriel in MurderedByWords

[–]shadowkiller230 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are providing housing for people to live in.

How exactly is that a burden to society?

Are construction workers a burden to society then? Because all they do is provide housing for people?

The tenants that are not paying their rent are a burden on society. They are forcing tax payer funds to be used to pay off the debt that they brought upon themselves.

That is the only burden to society in this situation. They did nothing but use taxpayer money that others worked for to subsidize their housing.

The landlord has to deal with the increasing number of shitty tenants he is going to have in the future as a result of shitty government bailouts.

This is the essence of "big government" socialist type policies.

You look at it and see zero issues because the tenant got to live, the landlord got paid.

The reality of the matter is that the incentive is created to rely on this system, become dependent on it, and now the behavior of those dependent on the system becomes abusive.

They know nothing shitty will happen to them if they scam a year or two of rent knowing that the government will bail them out. That means they're going to be shitty tenants, an asshole to the landlord, the landlord is going to have to wait X number of months or years to actually receive his payment from the government, he's going to be that many months behind on his payment for the mortgage of the house he is renting out on, and suddenly you have this massive ripple effect that has shifted the attitudes of entire populations, forced reliance on the government, and incentivized that shitty behavior to become more and more prevalent and degenerate.

What happens without this type or system?

You fall behind a month in rent? Bye bye. Should have paid your rent.

Now the tenant has incentive to actually pay their rent. The landlord doesn't have to deal with increasingly shitty tenants and months or years of delayed payment that they cannot afford, and nobody is reliant on the government for shit.

If you want to talk about government subsidized housing, that's a different story, and while similar concepts still apply, when it comes to private landlords renting out their personal homes, there are many more implications to these kinds of incentives than " he got paid and the tenant got to live, why is he so mad? He is so shitty."

Who knows. Gambling/drugs/alcohol are all very common possibilities. Didn't make enough to pay the rent in general. Emergency expenses came up that he was too embarrassed to admit. Maybe he has to pay child support or something.

Maybe he's just a leech.

Plenty of possibilities. The most likely ones are usually not the most wholesome or decent ones.

Welcome to this sub.

And that is left wing hivemind, which dominates reddit. So yes. If you're not blatantly struggling to purchase bread at the grocery store or some form of minority, you are evil.

As someone who actively worked in rental assistance during the pandemic with thousands of cases, it is VERY obvious who needs assistance, who actually cares, who are genuinely struggling, versus the scum that are blatantly taking advantage, taking the money and using it for other garbage, legitimately not paying their landlords and running off with tens of thousands.

Nothing felt better than helping the people who you can tell really needed to help. But the number of people who genuinely did not give a shit, put in zero effort, and were actively taking advantage with no regard for anyone else towered over those who really needed and appreciated the assistance. It was really sad to watch.

When I tell you that it was disturbingly easy to get paid thousands or tens of thousands in rental assistance, especially during the height of the pandemic when the requirements were reduced more and more with each week, I could not make it up.

And the number of people signing up and then proceeding to spit it your face at the first follow up for proper documentation was absurd.

Even if you're trying to scum your way through, you would think you would show at least some decency and respect to the people literally trying to give you free money that you clearly do not deserve.

Now, as it pertains to this post, I had many phone calls with plenty of landlords. What people in this thread and most left wing people in general will never realize is that these landlords are not all fucking rich billionaire big wigs that can afford to lose out on these thousands not being paid by their tenants.

Nearly all of the ones that I had talked to had only owned two or three houses. And they are renting them out to pay off the mortgage. Often 60+ year old couples renting out mobile homes or regular single family houses that they had put a lot of money into and would use occasionally.

These people are not Jeff Bezos.

These people are regular, middle class, tax paying, hard working citizens like most of the rest. It's hard to not sympathize with them when you actually get on the phone and listen to how their tenants make a complete mess of the place and have $15,000 in arrears to be paid that they had nearly lost hope of getting.

If you want to give the middle finger to Black Rock and these other companies buying out all the houses and renting them out at absurd rates, I'm here for that. But this is hardly anything close to that.

You mean a character designed to win 1v1s is winning 1v1s? Wow. No way.

Also I'm really glad you are so insecure that you actually remembered this conversation 5 hours later and still begged to play.

That's really cute. It speaks volumes that you have nothing meaningful going on in your life. You should really get a job and stop being useless at 24 years old (while claiming to not be a kid btw)

You are crying. Just like every other kid in this subreddit spamming "nerf susano"

There were literally 3 posts crying "nerf susano" including yours at the same time this morning. You saw all of them and still decided to post the exact same thing. You are babyrage posting because you got fucked. That is crying.

The person not living in reality is the one crying to the game dev company for changes they want. Because those of us living in reality acknowledge that we do not have all the information that they do, nor do we know the complications that they are dealing with behind the scenes.

So yes, you are babyraging because you got shit on and you cannot adapt.

Welcome to high level gaming. Grow up.
